Paulo Silva I think it’s really the whole package. It starts with the player and his way of playing and phrasing. That’s massive. Amps do sound a lot different although I think a lot of that depends on how the amps are set up. High gain tones add a lot of compression which makes differences somewhat less noticeable.

Hey I have a question. So I have a Sawtooth ES series (yeah I know, it’s a knockoff). But I’m trying to make it sound as much as a Fender Strat as possible. I think I have a theory thought that with electric guitars in particular it doesn’t matter what guitar you get if you mod it to get the right tone. Would y’all agree with that? What upgrades should I get on it to sound more like an authentic Strat? It seems like the two deciding factors as far as I know are pickups and the type of strings. Does that sound about right? Or do I also have to upgrade some of the electronics inside? Give me some ideas on upgrades I should get pls
Umm... yes and no. Upgrading pickups and wiring will make a big difference. However, there's alot more to a higher end guitar than just a few things that can be easily swapped. Wood and build will never change and generally, cheaper guitars are cheaper wood that aren't as well put together. The question to ask yourself is whether or not its worth putting alot of money into this guitar, or using that same money towards a nicer guitar. I can understand wanting to mod a cheaper guitar particularly if it has nostalgic value, so that answer may be a big yes. But if you really want a Fender Stratocaster, you should get a Fender Stratocaster. Coming from experience. My $.02 ~
