  • A piece from CNN's "Showbiz News" on IUMA, the Internet Underground Music Archive, from 3/9/1994 with founders Rob Lord, Jeff Patterson and Jon Luini.
While Deth Specula is not mentioned by name, the intro and exit "bumper" music is our song, "Careening Continental". Also, the band's info on IUMA is shown at 40 seconds and our very own Yam is shown in black leather at 2:28.

Brilliant. So happy I stumbled across this. I knew of this scene and knew some of the characters upstairs across from the bus station downtown Santa Cruz ~1991 or 92. I downloaded tons of content from the site too. Peace.

I'm still waiting for that "on-demand cd creation". That honestly could have saved the CD industry - and still might.

"You can download it (computer term) and copy it to a cassete..." Ahh the bronze age...

Man I loved IUMA back in the day. Wonder what happened to all that music when they shut down? Be nice if it was archived someplace else...

Talk about a flash from the past, if only they knew what it was going to be like today.
