There aren't many lady bands outside of japan that play heavier rock music, are still active and are/were somewhat successful - here's a short list: CRYPTA, NERVOSA, Thundermother, Vixen, L7
Check out BLACK WIDOW, HEXENHAMMER and EXECUTED with Seraina Telli the first Singer that left the band almost two years ago. Then move on to CIRCLE OF FIVE and FLIGHT OF THE VALKYRIE! You won't be disappointed!!! Burning Witches are originally from Switzerland, yet the singer was replaced with a Laura Guldemond from the Netherlands.

Funny you guessed Italy...you almost had it...it's actually Switzerland. The drummer obviously has some Asian in her though as you can see. I think she may be Filipino come to think of it.

OMG, 90s? Mercyful Fate? Well, maybe a little on the latter, but this is just straight up Traditional Metal, with a slight occasional Power Metal galloping riff. But if anything, I'd place these ladies in just modern [post 2000s] Traditional Metal. When one talks 90s, the only thing I think of is Grunge, Alt Rock, and NuMetal (post-Grunge). Sure, there were a few bands from the 80s that persisted thru the 90s, but their releases were hard to find before the age of RUclips and Amazon. And to be fair, Mercyful Fate did have their 90s run after their reunion, but King Diamond was also doing his own thing then too.
