Compared to that Thor run a few years ago, there’s something else about this Spider-Man run that is just so incredibly biased in its writing that it’s unhealthy in its own straightforward way. It’s also kind of a shame cause the art style is perfect for a Spider-Man comic, but given the ‘pattern’ seen above, that’s possibly intentional, too.
At least Jason Aaron made a very poor attempt to hide that he was a prick and a dumbass. This is just so damn singleminded, something that makes me think the author should see a therapist or a doctor.

And even if they are small in number, I do not think that is a reason to discount them. My feelings on this run are basically:
Is it the worst Spider-Man story? Debatable but definitely up there. Is it a terrible Spider-Man story? Oh absolutely. There is not a saving grace I can think of with this and I genuinely get the feeling that it only gets by because it’s Amazing Spider-Man, a book that is guaranteed to sell no matter what. If this was happening in a side Spider-Man book, sales would be drops g like flies
Only good part of the book. 3:03. I like new Osborn, and I like that there is equal potential for him to stay good for a long while, or be evil this entire time.
It’s stories like this that make question why I ever liked superhero comics to begin with.
Because originally, they were meamt to entertain and inspire those who needed a little pick me up during hard times? These days... I... I don't even know what they're really going for. Maybe for clout on twitter, but that seems about it.
@@Mike_Dubo I was actually complaining about the broad histrionics and laughable melodrama that’s as old as comics. The intentions, both good and bad, have not changed. I think the real problem is that of perspective.
Now that these characters are cultural touchstones and not just “silly”/fantastical drawing, we imbue them with a self-seriousness that robs them of their tongue-in-cheek charm. Stan & Jack wrote ludicrous but also sincere stories of people with godlike power doing their best for the world. They’d often come up a bit short but they’d never stop trying. There’s something so sweet, sincere, and powerful in that base concept. I think the real problem is that we’ve grown so cynical of these characters and have such an inflated expectation for these stories, I think that “sincere silliness” at the heart of Marvel can never shine through

Kamala's not only going to come back to life, it's going to change her power set, so that it matches the screen version of the character.
I was curious and looked some stuff up and sure enough you are 10000000000% right, it hasn't released yet but it's confirmed they're dropping her being inhuman and making her come back as a mutant instead. I mean it's not that surprising looking at how the Guardians of the Galaxy changed to match the movies
So how is Ms Marvel death supposed to be Spider-Man’s fault? She died in the line of duty protecting a civilian like a hero is supposed to, it’s not like she died from Peters plan or due to his failures, it could’ve happened to anyone. None of this is his fault, yeah he didn’t get to her in time but neither did the other heroes. I just don’t see the point of it all

Kamala's plan is so needlessly risky and she was using a power that CANONICALLY she couldn't use anymore. Like what if Rabin just followed and stabbed the other MJ? It would have entirely been her fault for leaving her unprotected.
In short, Zeb Wells did some trash writing and the Spidey editors are so out of touch.

If the plan was to reboot Ms Marval as a mutant with MCU powers, wouldn’t be easier just to have a mini series of her losing her powers, self reflect on what makes her a hero and then getting her new powers rather than fridging her in someone else’s series and causing backlash? She didn’t die in her own series, not in a “Death of” mini series like Wolverine and Dr Strange had that built up the tragedy, or in a big comic book event like Civil War. She did in someone else’s series where she had served more or less as a background character. She was fridged just to make Peter more miserable than he already was.

That's probably part of why they killed her off, but I think we need to disect why they killed her in this particular book. Miles Morales has an ongoing right now and she's got loads of history with miles. If they wanted to give her a death that felt resonant and had any sort of weight, that's the place to do it. Or given her her own miniseries even. Or hell, find a way to put her in the Captain Marvel book. Instead they did it in a book with a character she has very little history with, during a run that's already super divisive among fans. Or you know what? If the end goal is to make her a mutant, have her die in the X-men book. She has a deep history with cyclops and her first team-up was with Wolverine. I can only think that Marvel did this quite deliberately to boost sales for this book, as much as because of anything they wanted to do with Kamala herself.

I wouldn't mind that considering that Miles canonically had a huge crush on Ms Marvel. He literally told her his secret identity just to try and have game. Even after that, they became really close friends and used to hang out from time to time. Even had an issue where they played basketball with her and they sort of had the "lets just be friends" conversation without having it.

Other people who covered this story arc inputted to much of their opinions in their reading or summarization of the material, but I thought that yours was still well read and dramatized as good as you normally do
I think that the story is actually a bit better than what I may have thought upon initial confrontation with it And through other sources, but if you were a new Spider-Man fan because of the movies or something like that, you might not know anything better, and this is not that bad, considering that that there are other worse times of Spider-Man history one could be less fortunate to be subjected to have during their youth (I was a kid when clone saga came out)

Wouldn’t it has made more sense for her to die in the Miles Morales version of Spider-man? Arent they like beat friends?! Her dying here feels random.
They killed Ms Marvel to bring her back with energy powers like in the movies. I believe that because of the movies they are getting rid of the stretching power. I could be wrong, let's wait and see.
This is straight up insulting to Ms Marvel, first they forget she exists for several years, now not only does she get killed off in another character's series, but also by an insignificant villain with minimal fanfare and build-up. It could have been literally anyone in her place, with the exact same result. This whole story line was bad on a conceptual level and only proves that Marvel would do anything except let Spider-man status quo evolve
I wouldn't say they forgot she existed, more like they didn't have a plan for her. She has actually been doing stuff.
