    This make it look slower than my Lagoon380.

    I have not seen any of the speeds they say can be done on the charts. Better do that before and then i might get interested. So far all i have seen is not up to par on speed. Comfort maybe yes.

      Sorry you feel that way. Indeed we had very little wind for our seatrial but the Neel was moving along nicely when many other cruising boats would have been motoring...in terms of average speed the Neel have won many Arc rallye so I guess they do better than other cruising bosts but you re right they are not racing boats. The designers objective is to make a cruising trimaran that offers incredible living space and is fun to sail. From my humble point of view it s a success ...we also have some pure racing boats if you are interested...just drop as a mail at contact@sailtahiti.com

      @@SAILTAHITI sorry i do not want to seem critical of you. I have not see one do the speeds they say it can do on the charts made up by some engineer. On the outreamer catamaran i have seen 10 to 16 knots average speeds and i have not seen any of that on a Neel. They say its supposed to be faster than a cat but I am not seeing that.

    I keep hoping to see some good performance out of these Neel Trimarans, but everything I've seen shows they're quite a bit slower than a comparable catamaran. Neel should really put one of these in the hands of a popular RUclips sailing VLOG so people can see more of how these things perform. Everything I've seen so far shows them dragging along at 5 or 6 knots. I think this one showed it up to 9 knots. I guess that's fast for a Neel tri-hull.

      Yep 6 knots in 10 knots of wind and 9 knots in 13 knots of breeze sure is slow. 🙄

      Meadmaker 452 Dude 5 knots of boT speed out of 10 knots of wind is not exactly bad.

      @@gregoryscher8045 - No, it's not bad. I just keep hoping to see someone sail one in something other than a mild breeze, so we can get an idea of what Neel's idea of performance is. Someone said the people from the channel "sailoceans" have had one up to 16-18 knots, which is encouraging, and definitely speaks more to the performance they keep hinting about, but not showing. I've seen La Vagabonde's Outremer cat up over 20 knots in the right conditions, and that's the kind of thing I'd like to see the Neel trimaran do, to see what she's really made of.

      @@meadmaker4525 bud Neel trimarans aren't race boats they are cruisers first and foremost. Your pissing in the wind on this one. These boats are really designed to cruise at 10-9 knots in light winds which is comfortable speeds for cruising more then fast enough and should get you around 200 nortical miles passages which is flying.

    • @meadmaker4525
      @meadmaker4525 5 лет назад +1

      @@dasimparmy2289 - The race boats I've seen out there are doing stupid speeds, over 35+ knots, so I definitely wasn't confusing a Neel trimaran with one of those. Having said that, the founder of Neel trimarans has classed these boats as "performance" trimarans and brags that they will out-perform a comparably-sized catamaran. With that in mind, a comparably-sized cruising catamaran would be the Outremer that La Vagabonde sails. They've had their cat up over 20 knots, and regularly plod along at over 12 knots. This was the kind of performance I was hoping to see out of Neel trimarans, which is what he's claimed his boats can do. I just have yet to see any evidence of it. However, since my original comment, I've been informed that the channel "Sailoceans" has one of the original Neel trimaran prototypes and has had really good performance and speed out of it, comparable to the numbers I listed above. Will have to check them out and see for myself.

    So try here: ruclips.net/video/bS8Xv60ufhA/видео.html Cruising couple with kids, boat loaded, this clip shows solid 12 - 18 knots for extended periods. Ideal beam reach, but lumpy seas. This thing is hauling! Try that in a Lagoon 380!

      @@randalladdison537 Yes, Donald is correct - this was the prototype Neel 50, the very first one built. I am not sure about sail area and weight, but the basic design is similar to the boats that followed.
