    We think the best way to test a boat, is to rent it for a week and experience real sailing conditions at the sea.
    The NEEL 47 is one of the boat we wanted to try. Here is our adventures of 6 days cruising from Saint-Tropez to Cinque Terre in Italy.
    In 1997 Porto Venere and the villages of Cinque Terre were designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
    We leave Saint-Tropez sailing direction Italy in Alassio for the 1st night.
    Then the second night in Porto Venere where we have a great italian breakfast and then sailing direction Cinque Terre.
    Visiting the 5 villages including: Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, Monterosso al Mare.
    Stunning scenery from the sea while flying the drone.
    Waking up in Portofino and arriving at night in the bay of Alassio where we put the anchor and have dinner and sleep.
    The last day for crossing back to Saint-Tropez with strong wind and high waves. The Neel 47 trimaran offer a very smooth and safe ride while cruising at fast speed.
    So far this is the best sailing experience we ever had. We just wish we could have went longer :)
    What we like about the NEEL 47 Trimaran ?
    - Confort of navigation
    - Great speed in low winds
    - Easy to maneuver
    - Feel safe while cruising in strong sea and winds (+35knots and 2+ meters waves)
    - Great office area for laptops and electronics
    - Love the main deck owner’s cabin
    - Galley with panoramic view in a must
    - Easy access and huge garage and technical areas
    - Beautiful look
    What we dislike about the NEEL 47 Trimaran ?
    - Lack of storage
    - No fresh water outside to wash the boat at sea
    - Float suites accessible from outside is not for us
    - Tender 6HP was too small
    - Some of the accessories mounted on this boat was low quality
    - No radar installed on this model
    - Not enough time :)
    What's next ?
    We are looking forward to test the NEEL 51 that looks more adapted for our project.

    We are a family of 3, Lithuanian and French couple currently living in Dubai UAE with our daughter born in 2020, with the dream of circumnavigating the globe with a catamaran sailing boat. In 2018 until we decided to focus on our project sailing TELLUS (Latin word meaning “Earth”).
    We had the chance to visit and live in many beautiful countries including China, Hongkong, Thailand, Romania, Lithuania and France with our previous jobs, that made us realize how fast the world is changing and how fast the life is going and there is no “later” than “now” for the project we have in mind. In early 2019 we took a one-week sailing courses that opened our eyes of new ways of travelling and changed our life style.
    In June 2020, we decided to sell everything we own, house, car and lot of stuff that we do not need anymore so that we can buy a sailboat and go for an undetermined voyage around the globe.
    We bought a catamaran Lagoon 450s delivered in France in July 2021.
    We invite you to share with us our adventures of learning, exploring and making our project come to life. Through our videos we hope to inspire to explore, seek alternative options of living and to spread ocean awareness.

    Great 51. We looked at the 47 at Annapolis and like you we think the 51 is for us. The amas are too narrow and I can’t get past that outside access for them in unpleasant weather climbing days an that narrow ladder.

    Great video. Would love to know more about the light wind performance. You say you liked it and in the video see numbers for 15kn + . Any performance numbers you can share for lighter winds?

    • @SAILINGTELLUS
      @SAILINGTELLUS  4 года назад

      Thank you for your feedback. Cruising at 9 knot with 10 knot of wind at 90° angle. The Neel 47 doing it much better than all the catamarans we rented before in terms of speed.

      @@SAILINGTELLUS thank you for the quick response. Very helpful to see comments by somone who has gotten out and sailed it in many conditions. One more question... how well/easily does it tack? In my experience it is certainly a Neel 45 challenge and can be a trimaran issue in general.

    • @SAILINGTELLUS
      @SAILINGTELLUS  4 года назад

      @@jkreitlerinsf With the trinquette it is easier to tack as you don't have to do anything. With the Genoa need to be 2 person and need to be fast to pull back the Genoa and send it on the other side.

    Really great video - I appreciated your artistic video talents too. Looks like a lot of fantastic drone footage. I would just consider stopping the camera movement when recording the GPS / Sonar unit.....unless the seas were so rough it was impossible to be still. Anyhow, fantastic job buddy!

      That goes for any multi hulls under 50 feet it just going to happen going directly into swells.

    • @jamesaron1967
      @jamesaron1967 2 года назад

      @@dasimparmy2289 I've seen videos of multihulls in the 50' range and they also do it. Interesting that racing multihulls are much less prone to hobby-horsing. I think it's less a factor of hull length and more the design compromise for a greater buoyancy need in a cruiser. If you look at each hull of the Neel trimarans, you'll notice they're not really prioritized for wave piercing. The hulls bulge downwards around the waterline, and this design probably induces a tendency to lift rather than pierce through the waves. Just some thoughts.

      The rental company said no reef until 28 knots. A bit scary at some point. We learn from it everyday.
