I think it is a combination of things. Shock, since this is not a normal thing, and possibly insecurity about being ''loud'' in public or simply showing emotion. A lot of people, when in public, are intentionally reserved to not draw attention they aren't currently seeking. i like to think on the INSIDE these people were screaming.
Squier were pretty good when I started playing 27 years ago as long as you didn't buy the Chinese ones and started with the South Korean ones. I still have mine.
Honestly, Squiers are damn good. I was a little disappointed when my BIL plugged his Squier Strat into my stack and it sounded nearly identical to my American Standard Strat. The only real difference was mine did feel a bit better, but honestly it wasn't around $1K worth of an improvement
I did say knock off squires. I think squire is a hell of a deal. Most of em just need some new pick ups, and maybe some attention to the neck, but if your good with sandpaper and can switch out pickups, then they'll play like a 2000$ guitar. I'm nota snob, I'm just surprised at how nice the guitars he was giving away were.
I work at a long and mcquade and there’s no better feeling then getting to be the person who someone trusts as the information guy for their first guitar. I can’t imagine how nice it would be to be able to just give people guitars. Merry Christmas Sammy G

I think some people are just kind of in shock, no one was expecting it and then to have cameras in your face too kind of surprises you. I ended up talking to almost all these guys after the fact with no cameras and they were all beyond excited and grateful when it set in.
Most of them were really young and they don’t have the full range of human emotions yet. Bet they learned a couple very quickly when they got their prizes!

I love how some youtube channels are all about how many guitars can a person have and why you NEED a new and different guitar, when in reality one nice guitar would be a dream come true for alot of people.... Thank you for doing this. I tried to buy a kid a guitar in GC yesterday. He was playing a few chords, and told me he didn't have a guitar yet. He was playing a inexpensive Kramer. I told him I'd buy it for him if his dad was cool with it. His father responded with "We don't need the charity, We're not broke" My response was that I just wanted to do something nice to spread some holiday cheer. He gave me a dirty look, walked off and worst of all, the kid was disapointed. So, I bought two guitars and amps and found some music teachers today that needed the instruments for their students. Days like that it's almost hard to have faith in humanity.

His father responded with "We don't need the charity, We're not broke" My response was that I just wanted to do something nice to spread some holiday cheer. He gave me a dirty look, walked off and worst of all, the kid was disapointed. So, I bought two guitars and amps and found some music teachers today that needed the instruments for their students. Days like that it's almost hard to have faith in humanity.
