Tobias Walker Check out Brian Keele, you will think Johnny is back from his grave. I always loved Raul's voice and still do, but I haven't come across anyone that sounds more like Johnny than Brian does ... check him out and see for yourself if you don't believe me.
Brian Zaborowski "The Mavericks" were pretty huge in the 90's, he was the lead singer. To say he hasn't yet been famous is wrong. Unfortunately not enough people want to hear the kind of music he sings anymore.
Yes they were and guys like me still love that kind of music! I have one of their cassettes, but nothing to play it on nowadays, lol. I knew he was the front man for the Mavericks, just didn't realize how much he did on his own after they split up years ago. I had drifted away for a while and kind of forgot about him/them ... then the other night he popped up somehow and I had a good time listening to him. Raul always had a killer voice and still does.
Raul Malo, Chris Isaak, both very talented individuals . Backup excellent. What you are hearing in this posting is nothing but the greatest Rock n Roll / country performers that ever picked up a guitar.Treasure it! Your not going to get any better.
I'm enamored by Raul's voice. Thanks for posting this. I'm a fan of his solo work, The Mavericks, and also his duets and background vocals. Chris Isaak, Raul Malo, Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison... I love all these crooners!
i own this tribute on dvd and of all the tribute acts raul does the best cover of the masters songs he is totally fantastic his vocals are fantastic love you johnny and raul thanks mate

The applause at the end of Raul singing "Man in Black" says it all! This is awesome - you get two great numbers by Chris Isaak, followed by Raul at his unique best. What more can one ask for. As for JameaMatchboxLee & Joe O'Hara, gentlemen, your powers of observation are truly amazing - if only you had watched the whole clip before putting your foot in your mouths. Certainly not the brightest stars in the sky.
Two really good US singers (Raul Malo is the best, IMO), RM usually sings tenor, I was really surprised at how well handled "Man In Black" in a key well below his tessitura.
I wish someone could post this entire show. It was a great one. Especially Marty Stuart and the Fairfield Four doing Belshazzar together. That was just electrifying!
This version of "Man In Black" and Those Poor Bastards' cover of "I Walk The Line" are the only two acceptable versions of Cash songs that weren't done by the man himself. This is an absolutely perfect rendition. Raul's voice is criminally overlooked in the pantheon of greats.

Raul, did a great job. He is so underrated. He has the most awesome voice and he is more versatile than any other singer, I know of.
I can't get over how many people Raul can sound like, he is absolutely amazing and an unrecognised wizard in the music industry!
