The Nutcracker somehow captures the feeling of Christmas so brilliantly. It sounds the way Christmas feels!
Yes😍🎄🎄🎄
Well it is set during Christmas time
@ISABELLA ESCAMILLA what in the actual fuck are you trying to communicate. Neither of your comments make any sense at all.
Late Merry Christmas!😁🙏

Anyone here just because they like Tchaikovsky?
Nope...here because I LOVE Tchiakovsky! :)
bunnstermi haha
bunnstermi He's such a wonderful composer and got me hooked on classical music! We just saw The Nutcracker ballet just this afternoon!
Yes, me!
just_marley I did.
Sometimes, when I was a young girl, my grandfather would dance The Waltz with me. My feet would be on top of his, holding on with my hands, keeping proper hand form, of course. I was prob about eight, I am fourty-one now. I will always remember. This shall be the first dance of my wedding, when, or if, I do marry.
pls update and tell us abt it
Sweet memory
Waltz
😀 Lovely
That's so sweet!
This music perfectly represents the feeling of snow. What a true musical genius. His talent will never be rep
You're right, it's kind of funny to think that it wasn't his favourite ballet (according to Fantasia).
Kelli Medeiros I wouldn't go that far. Kanye has some really cool stuff to listen to. Just kidding
sampea CAML I read once that he did not originally like The Nutcracker, i guess maybe he changed his mind
lol Kanye
Don't you wish the snow never had to get gray or slushy or dirty? That it could look fresh-fallen until it melts?
This song automatically transports you to a snowy wonderland.
Same with "Winter" by Antonio Vivaldi.
@@arcadia21125 Different however: Tchaikovsky is fantastic while Vivaldi is realistic.

Certainly a genius who ranks with the greatest composers.
Tchaikovsky was a genius. Every instrument was precise and perfect. He captured the feeling of what falling snow looks like.
I always get chills when the chorus comes in
is that a pun? 😂❄
hahahahahahhaahhah... good one..
correct me if I'm wrong but is this an all boys choir? or is it mixed children? I'm almost certain there are no adults though
@@LangstonKarabaniit should be an all white voices chorus, so yeah, mostly children, but they can be either male or female
I used to sing it in high school for an international ballet that used to tour - died out after Covid. I’ll treasure those times forever-it was magical
I always loved the chorus vocal in the middle. So magical.
For some reason it makes me think of a Tim Burton movie
KevinLee Music 琴 I had the chance to sing it for 3 years with my local nutcracker! I loved every second
KevinLee Music 琴 You took the words right out of my mouth! Lol
Agreed!!
I heard this on the radio station Discover Classical (Dayton, OH area) in the car today, and I made sure to catch the name when it was done.
"Neptune" from Gustav Holst's "The Planets" also has a nice female chorus part in it.
@@JesusChrist-qd7ye Especially Edward Scissorhands music.
Is it wrong that even though I am a guy, and that the only reason why I ended up here is because of the Barbie in the Nutcracker movie (2001)? This Barbie movie, and all the music in this Barbie movie are very beautiful. *crying*
is it wrong that i feel the same way too and im a girl? hell no. we are both humans , we both have emotions.
have you seen Barbie - Swan Lake? even more beautiful music...
I have. It is definitely one of the most beautiful and best Barbie movies ever made. In case anyone is wondering, what is my favourite Barbie movie of all time, it is Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper (2004).
it is actually the same for me, used to love the shit out of that movie when i was a kid and its probably the main reason i listen to these pieces
Its okay guy, I ended up here from the Care Bear Nutcracker
I am japanese . when I was three, I watch this ballet on TV everyday, and dancing...
This song really is like the musical embodiment of snow…like it’s just insanely perfect…the quick, fun, beautiful, bouncy music goes along with falling, swirling, blowing snow PERFECTLY. Tchaikovsky’s genius is on a whole other level. The way he can musically represent things like snow and feelings like loneliness or joy in his music…it’s insane.
People should really give classical music a chance more often, it's just so refreshing.
I agree.
Totally agree! And it never sounds outdated. It will go on from generation to generation.
Tchaikovsky is my favorite composer. His music is so original.
That's a strange motive. May I ask the why you used "original" as your choice of wording?
Robin Ramstedt
Robin Ramstedt
Sometimes you can say that in the music of two composers there are some common elements that you cna point on. In case of Tchaikovsky I cannot say so.
You and me both.
Rafal Plaszczyca Actually he was not respected very much by his contemporaries in Russia. Read all about in the book "The Lives of the Great Composers"
It's a shame that Walt Disney didn't produce a animated short for this classical masterpiece. It would have been exhilerating watching a parade of snowflakes gliding through a frozen, wintery lake amidst a snow covered forest as the lovely chorus mellifluously hummed in the background!
I have my own idea of a short for this particular composition:
A young girl in a wheelchair befriends a female winter spirit. The two meets every winter, the spirit's magic allowing the wheelchair-bound girl to dance with her legs and with the winter spirit every time. Over the years, romance blooms between them...Until the human girl's parents finds out and chases them out in the cold, until both spirit and girl go through a magic wall, into a springtime meadow, the snow spirit turning into a spring fairy, as they both beam at each other and kiss lovingly.
Well I mean, now there is!
@@sampeacaml9307 fucking gross. Why would you try to destroy every possible art ?
@@adam422 it seems interesting and its art. How is that gross?
He did. It was a segment from Fantasia
I cannot get over the brilliance of human beings such as this man, this composer. HE would be rolling in his grave if he knew the magnitude of the nutcracker now!
Laura Gaudet imagine if he came back to life. people to this day still doing the same ballet. he hated it but today people love it

THIS SONG MAKES ME SO HAPPY
IT'S A PIECE
@@DaviSilva-oc7iv fine, this PIECE makes me so happy
@@emilydas OK BUT WHY YOU ANSWERED AFTER 4 YEARS?
@@DaviSilva-oc7iv youtube notifications!! also this piece is still great :]
my ballet teacher was a principal dancer in the Boston ballet and now teaches and choreographs he says that this is probably the only music from the nutcracker he will never get sick of hearing
tinydancer71301 I love a good ballet! Especially the nutcracker
Christmas is the most beautiful part of western culture. The most beautiful part of Christmas is the Nutcracker. The most beautiful part of the Nutcracker is the Waltz of the Snowflakes and the most beautiful part of the Waltz of the Snowflakes is 1:48 when the chorus starts sing and the ballerina begin twirling in a circle.
It was driving me crazy, trying to remember where I had heard this song before....
Finally remembered Barbie in the Nutcracker from when I was a little girl.
Beautiful Song!!
OrihimeRockz tu é feia demais.
Born and raised in Florida and have never seen snow. Listening to this makes me imagine what it would be like to be in a real winter wonderland. Thanks Tchaikovsky!!😍❄️❄️
Every time I hear this, I think of long hours spent at the studio during Nutcracker season, tired muscles from so much dancing, excitedly watching other rehearsals, despite having seen everything a billion times, and knowing that Nuts is getting closer. :) I love ballet.
PigPenguin91 isnt it time for anAMERICAN christmas ballet? i shall compose the music
elvis presley Sure, I suppose, but that wouldn't negate how wonderful The Nutcracker is.
PigPenguin91 It is great, but, it is time for an American composer to write something as timeless as the Nutcracker because Peter does not have to worry about paying the rent anymore
elvis presley That's true, I can't really argue with that. Although I think if you're just looking to pay the rent, being in the arts isn't the best way to go, your chances of being able to make enough to live off of are very slim. There's the term 'starving artist' for a reason! :P
PigPenguin91 I am a very conservative fellow but sometimes I wish the artists in the USA were compensated more like they are in Europe
Wonderful Russian music...
brian lucore τον:: θα,?! θο
I've not heard this before, loved it. Tchaikovsky had such a gift that he no doubt composed it one morning while brushing his teeth.
john godfrey It really does not work that way! Wish it were that easy
Brahms composed 1 fuga every morning while drinking his coffee though
I remember seeing this ballet and when hearing this song the chord progression really shocked me in the best way possible. That with the choir- it's absolutely magical!
Glad to see you again, I agree with you.
1:50 the most magical thing i've ever heard
At the age of three I was put into a ballet program, except this wasn't your normal princess little girl program, this was the russian method. I worked very hard and ended up in the Nutcracker, Swan Lake, and Cinderella, my favourite role will always be a little snowflake dancing to this song.... Sadly my family could not afford to continue my ballet and I was forced to quit, but I will forever remain a ballerina at heart
Tchaikovsky is the greatest of them all because he was the most versatile. He excelled in concertos, symphonies, grand opera, his magnificent Capriccio Italien, 1812 overture, choral and chamber music and of course, his specialty, ballet. The Nutcracker never fails to amaze no matter how many times it is heard. For pure entertainment he is only rivaled by Rossini.
I completely agree! Tchaikovsky was always described as a true professional, in that whatever the commission may be, he could write a piece to satisfy the demand. The good thing for those clients was that they were hiring someone with literally God-given genius, and I’m not even religious!!! I love Tchaikovsky🤩
I remember when my grandmother took me to see this ballet as a kid. I was never into that kind of thing, but it still stuck with me. Even at such I young age, I could tell that there was something special in the music. I may have even left the theater humming a few of the melodies.
This song makes me feel so calm and free.
This man was a musical genius
A flock of snow geese used to live on the shoreline of the creek behind my house and this music always makes me think of them so beautiful and tranquil
One of the best of many terrific melodies from the Nutcracker.
My favourite song on the Nutcracker. Has a very 'transcendental' feel to it.
+Tom Park for sure, you think he was smoking some opium when he wrote this?
jimmy page he didn’t make it he just composed it
Tchaikovsky is so perfect....
My sweet winter..
His music is pure magic
I love this...it is so beautiful and romantic. I can listen to it all year round.
Rassy Shasta you are right it is now the end of July
+Rassy Shasta Omg I love your profile picture, One Night with the King, Queen Esther
Rassy Shasta hey, like that Esther profile pic.
So thankful to Barbie Nutcracker movie for introducing me to classical and Tchaikovsky at such a young age. I really believe it influenced me strongly in my appreciation of music as a young adult.
The artist captured so well through this music the flying and flurry and movement of snowflakes during either a gentle snowfall or the most blusterous blizzard!
Tchaikovsky composed the magical music. His music I associate with New Year and Christmas
Just sitting here enjoying the brilliance and artistry of this piece. Ugh, Tchaikovsky, you genius.
the most sensitive composer of all time, i love his genial music!
The first time I heard Tchaikovsky, I was eight years old, and it stuck since then with me....
In the winter, when I was a very little girl, the best place in the world was to have all the lights off and watch the snow fall, at night, with my Mama. This music would have been a perfect accompaniment.
I think of Christmas while listening this. It's 30 degrees outside.
what country do you live in?
Bulgaria!
Idk that’s winter for us americans
@@Irenelovesnoodle The rest of the world uses celcius. that's about 88 in freedom units
This piece always brings tears to my eyes, particularly while played during a well done Nutcracker ballet featuring “snow”.
I feel in love with this.
the best feeling is when you're on stage with the bright lights, in front of the audience and get to dance with this music. its an unexplainable feeling. you feel like you're on air. its like your in another world with all the other dancers. you feel their sweat, hear the orchestra. i LOVED doing snow.
Tchaikovsky realmente foi um dos melhores compositores da época , é realmente uma pena não termos compositores assim atualmente 😔
I love all the little drama I hear in his music and the rush. It is very powerful.
When I hear this and think about the tormented life of Tchaikovsky I feel touched up to tears. It seems that he the only place he found beauty and peace were within the wonderful pieces he composed.
Do I only think that this masterpiece begins with a mystery and cunning vibe then becomes petit and cute and charming and then again cunning and then again sweet and delicate. And the last part so intense like a blizzard! A storm of snow. I love it!
1:48 is my favorite part it’s magical
My all time favorite piece of classical music...its delicately scored, but, as you will note, written in a minor key which gives it an air of mystery and yet still childlike-quite a feat. Just like a real snow fall which can turn bad if one does not watch it. The addition of the children's chorus confirms Tchaikovsky's orchestration genius. Makes me appreciate anyone who has to dance to this elfin music.
I adore Tchaikovsky. Magic music
this music is just so beautiful and I'm beyond excited to sing it
Captures the jolliness of Christmas morning so flawlessly.
You just gotta love the beauty of music. Hello from Houston, Texas ^^
his music just so beautiful
Tchaikovsky takes me to wondrous worlds that I have never been before...
Elsa from frozen. This fits her perfectly ❄️❄️
***** what?????
Violette Noir he meant 'fuck frozen'.
Thanks
I hated Frozen, but I agree with you. It totally fits her
Violette Noir Thanks for ruining this piece for me.
For me, 0:36 is where the magic really begins. I never have quite been able to describe the floaty feeling inside of me right from the first note that hits at that timestamp 😊❤️❄️✨💫
My mom took me to see The Nutcracker back in 2017, and it was one of the most wondrous things I've ever witnessed. I've always loved this ballet, but seeing it in person, hearing this performed live.... It was exhilarating!!
Everyone’s commenting about the chorus sections, but I’m just happy that I get to play the bass trombone solo at 1:20.
That is a nice solo!
The one and only transmuter of pain into pure beauty
Toni Cornejo incredible stuff, right?
+Thomas Anderson why pain?
+Thomas Anderson lol even more pain when you do pointe
+Lucas Alcazar Tchaikovsky's sister passed away while he was writing this music...listen to the Pas de Deux from this work and you'll see it more evidently.

This music, is so beautiful
This is just one of the best piecies of music...!
thankyou i love you Tchaikovsky.
This is so magical it's hard to even describe this.
Those harps *O* Tchaikovsky you genius, youuu...
It almost seems impossible that a human being could have created such perfection. This is divinity in purity.
Tchaikovsky is a god.
Max imuss WAS a God
Gods cannot do this
You're all peddling lies and clownery. Tchaikovsky would want nothing to do with you, given that he was a devout Orthodox Christian.
Oo, I love the "ahhh"s. Beautiful composition, one of my favorite ballets! :D
I've never heard this one before. That was incredible!
There was a Christmas Special with this song and I was totally captivated, through Earth, water, up and down I Shazamed thousand times this song but no answer, I gave it up really, but until now while listening to Mozart, this came as my recommended and I FREAKING FOUND IT!!!!, I was looking this song everywhere, and now in just a single recommended this popped out, I am literally jaw dropped!!!!

I’m Floridian, what is a snowflake
Southern California here, I don't know what's a snowflake either 🤷🏻♀️
Im irish I'm wondering too
Ok idk if this is a joke or not but a snowflake is a little piece of snow that falls from the sky, each snowflake has their little design, we like it when the snowflake falls on our tounges. Or eyelashes. Snowflakes are beautiful. I know this cause I live in NJ
I admire how nature form snowflakes. I know what it is even though i am in a tropical country where there is only wet and dry season.
there are 100000000000000000000000000000 snowflakes on the ground outside of my house, on the roof, and everywhere. I in canada. which means there's a lot of white : /
This songs makes me shiver. Its like the snow is trying to decide what to do and in the mean time is going from blizzard to little bits of snow. To capture that in music would be like holding thoughts. But Tchaikovsky did it and its amazing.
I love Tchaikovsky !
Je me rappelle quand on a dansé "Les flocons" avec la même musique pour mon premier spectacle de danse classique, avec le tutus blancs à paillettes et les diadèmes...
😍😍💖
C'était magique!
What a magnificent piece!
One ironic thing I find about the classical music I like is that even though movies and cartoons are excellent for popularizing it, when I listen to the music itself I find I have to put the movie or cartoon I got it from out of my mind - otherwise it slightly detracts from the music.
And what is best... IT'S SNOWING!!
Lucky you ❄️🌨❄️🌨
I got a chill down my spine for the vocal in the middle. It is so unreal.
Good music to ease my anxiety
The fast part are the snowflakes melting
Lovely.
Alison Hawkins I agree! This soothes me mentally! 😎
Me too.
It's finals week. I absolutely agree.
This particular waltz from the Nutcracker is one of the most hauntingly beautiful and unique pieces of music ever composed.
It finally snowed where I lived. It has put me into a classical and romantic music mood.
I went to see the nutcracker in New York and the thing that struck me the most was how brilliant the music was!!! Listening to the Orchestra play Tchaikovsky was perfection.
Its incredible how music can transport us thrue time. I imagine myself in Montreal on 2013. Such a good time...
