I didn't have to be worried about staying away from the T.V until the age of five because at five is when I could finally start hearing. By the time I was five I could start remembering events so I remember the first time I could hear myself say a word...turned out that that word was "backpack" from Dora. I'm glad I can hear now because since the time I could hear I listened to classical music, it was among my favorites. I was born in 1999 but luckily I had an childhood that remained unscathed by today's technology. I can't imagine having had a childhood with a phone in front of my face at all times. That's why I don't have one now either.
Your early hearing problems might have given you an appreciation for sound that most of us take for granted. I agree about the cell phone craze - it is not only about the bizarre life but the cancer too
I'll definitely try this when I have kids. I'm not letting them see a phone screen for more than 30 minutes total until they're over 7 or something late like that
It's funny how half of the classic songs we heard are German. Even Silent night and the lullaby we love so much was originally from Germany. I love these songs so much.
Tschaikovsky, Shostakovich, Rachmanninov, Mussorgsky, Stravinsky and roughly a billion more incredible composers from the old Motherland would wish to object to that.
Funny, true classical music story: Mrs. Strauss asked Brahms to autograph her fan. He did--writing a few bars of the Blue Danube on it with the inscription: "Unfortunately, not by Johannes Brahms" No one could ever accuse Brahms of not having a sense of humor--or admiring the gifts of other fellow composers.
Sabrina Ribeiro Bacelar Yes, I like the part where the music plays when Squidward makes Spongebob do the dance until he got it right. It happened that Squidward was sleep depriving Spongebob so he can win the dance contest.
My mom used to sing this to me when I was like 5 whenever I went to the swimming pool with her, and one time, but she always forgot the name of the song. Thank god I finally found this ❤️
Dont know why but when I hear this song, all I can think of is over 100 people in a room with green clothes being instructed that a next game is about to begin
This waltz is so familiar to a lot of people because it has been used so many times in so many different shows/movies. On top of all the cartoon references already in the comments section, this song made its way into several old time Looney Tunes cartoons. It was also in the movie "True Lies" (in the last scene but before the tango).
This was one of the first classical pieces I really listened to in its entirety. I was 13, and 10 minutes was considered to be way too long for just one "song". But I just couldn't stop. I guess I have Johann Strauss Jr to blame for enjoying almost every waltz by every composer. This waltz was also one of the best parts of Kubrick's 2001, but not only by itself, naturally also because of how it was used in the film. Great pieces of art work well together, even if one is film and the other music.
I hardly ever get teary eyed by anything, but if I do, it's because this song is playing. One of my biggest favorites for as long as I can remember. Most likely since I was a baby.
