I guess what bugs me the most is Apple is still trolling its customers with a 64gb version for $999 and $1099! You would think for a grand you could at least get 128gb of storage. But they basically know that 64gb isn't really enough storage in 2018 so most folks will pay the extra for 256gb model. So aren't the real starting prices $1149 and $1249?

The big release for Samsung IMO was the Galaxy S9 because of the new camera and processor. The Note 9 is just an S9+ with an S Pen and slightly larger battery for almost $300 more. The new iPhones are the first new Apple phones in a year so of course they're going to get coverage. Whereas Samsung releases so many phones a year that it honestly just becomes watered down.

Well, the 3Gs brought actually usable mobile data speeds, the 4s brought Siri, the 5s brought touchID, the 6s brought 3DTouch. Now since there is no 7s: the 8 brought wireless charging/10 brought FaceID. So all of them had some sort of new feature. This one has nothing. And no, size is not a feature.
I think it's time we stop releasing phones every 12 months now. This "30% faster" and "New improved chip", "better camera", "brighter screen" and stuff like that are just not that substantial of a change anymore. Apple and Samsung have reached the peak of what is currently possible and maybe they should wait until they figure out something more significant and then release. I mean you wait for a full 12 months only to see what? 30% faster? Probably not even perceivable. I bet they intentionally bump up the performance just by a bit so that they leave the other 30% for the following year. Better camera? Cellphone cameras are more or less the same these days. As a someone who is into the leaks and patents when it comes to tech; let me correct you when you say they have reached the peak,, samsung havent reached that yet since latest leaks and figures suggest samsung has gone far beyond what the market looks like today its a matter of time and everything to be cleared.
Moore's law states that the number of transistors in integrated circuits (cpus for example) can only double every two years, so over a 1 year cycle it's physically impossible to obtain a chip that is 50%+ faster, that's why the S line exists for iPhones for example.

That's not the problem here. The problem is you have three phones that Apple is dropping and mostly all of them have the same specs. Now RIP to everyone who has the iphone x because Apple going to find a way to kill that phone slowly. That would mean people who has a x would need to upgrade and I find that just crazy. I like Apple, but they've gone from "revolutionary updates" to just new chips and better cameras. Don't get me wrong, having a faster phone and a better camera is great, but it's nothing compared from the jump of the 4s to the 5s. That included a fingerprint reader. The 5 to 6. Apple made the design slimmer and larger. 6 to 7. They made they're phones water resistant and added duel cameras, and 7 to 8, added wireless charging. They added new different things to their new phones while keeping they new designs they added from last year. The X to the XS is just a better camera and a new chip. It doesn't feel like a "revolutionary update" as much as it does just releasing the X all over again. Edit: You guys’ have valid points. My main gripe with it is that it didn’t feel like new phone rather than a slight spec bump from the previous models. This is just my opinion. I know where all of you guys are coming from and I agree. There isn’t much to improve with a new phone. But they can make changes to the design. Who would’ve thought that people would ever be able to put there phones in a tub of water. The apple line of products is innovation after innovation. This new phone doesn’t feel like an innovation. I also now know that the S stands for speed and this was a speed bump. Long Le No, the specs are "slightly" better. They will both be fast as shit, but though Samsung does something a point-second slower than an iPhone (except opening apps, a OnePlus does better than that), Samsung kicks Apple's ass in features that actually make a DIFFERENCE.

That wallpaper they keep showing with that planet is so misleading, they're purposefully making it look like the notch is gone. Even in their short promo videos I see on twitter, they turn the phone sideways and zoom in when they unlock the phone, theyre trying so hard to hide it.

No it wasnt. In last year's iPhone you could blur before taking the photo(which was introduced 2 years ago in iphone 7Plus). But now you can edit an already clicked photo and change its bokeh depth.

Still have the X, but I also own the 2018 12.9 iPad Pro so I’m contemplating selling the X as I can still use my iPad Pro for the Apple Ecosystem. Chiponmashoulda I’ve had the Note 9 since release and have yet to experience any lag, I use it a lot daily. I’ve been with Apple since the very first iPhone all the way up to iPhone X, this Note 9 is my very first android device.. What I can do on it blows my mind when compared to the extreme limitations of an iPhone. iOS is so boring it makes me bang my head against the wall. The customizations on the Note 9 with the skins, and interchangeable true live wallpapers are incredible unlike Apple’s so called “live wallpaper” which you have to 3D Touch for it to be activated and work until you let go.. LOL! When browsing websites and watching any media on the Note 9 it is SO MUCH BETTER than iPhone it’s insane. I don’t see anything better on an iPhone at all, after now owning the Note 9. It’s flawless. I can even download torrents right on the device, and moving files back and forth from PC to Note 9 is all drag and drop unlike apples prison cell of an ecosystem. The Note 9 is a much better phone and this is coming from a true Apple sheep who is no longer blind. Cheers.
Chiponmashoulda keep in mind that the phones in the stores are running in demo mode which makes them run like crap. You can play with laptops and PCs as well and see how they run much slower with the demo. I even had a guy working at Bestbuy say he hated how they had to put the demo on the products
They killed off the iPhoneX & don't sell it anymore because they knew this was a no-substance upgrade & it would literally eat up all the sales of iPhone Xs, Xs Max & Xr. I fully support incremental upgrades, it's much better than buying a product with 1 or 2 year old tech inside when newer tech is available, but don't hike the price & pretend it's a new revolutionary product because it comes in 1 more colour option! Also you just know that Apple won't bring the improved portrait mode to any other phone because they're just like that. One thing I've noticed quite surprisingly is that the Max is much easier to hold than the 7 Plus or 8 Plus. This isn't only because the previous models used slippery aluminium, but the Max is ever so slightly smaller, which makes it significantly easier to hold for me. It's not top heavy like the Plus and I can click icons even up to mid top section comfortably with one hand. Also I noticed the White Max sides are pure metal (cold to touch) whilst the Black and Gold have a resin coating or rubbery feel (and not cool to touch), which is great as it adds more grip. Little nuances that count!

The big release for Samsung IMO was the Galaxy S9 because of the new camera and processor. The Note 9 is just an S9+ with an S Pen and slightly larger battery for almost $300 more. The new iPhones are the first new Apple phones in a year so of course they're going to get coverage. Whereas Samsung releases so many phones a year that it honestly just becomes watered down.

I think it's time we stop releasing phones every 12 months now. This "30% faster" and "New improved chip", "better camera", "brighter screen" and stuff like that are just not that substantial of a change anymore. Apple and Samsung have reached the peak of what is currently possible and maybe they should wait until they figure out something more significant and then release. I mean you wait for a full 12 months only to see what? 30% faster? Probably not even perceivable. I bet they intentionally bump up the performance just by a bit so that they leave the other 30% for the following year. Better camera? Cellphone cameras are more or less the same these days. So there's AI on the image processor. Meh!
I guess you can just choose not to buy the phones. I rather have this business model, as there are a lot of people that jump versions, waiting two or three years to get a new phone. As a someone who is into the leaks and patents when it comes to tech; let me correct you when you say they have reached the peak,, samsung havent reached that yet since latest leaks and figures suggest samsung has gone far beyond what the market looks like today its a matter of time and everything to be cleared.
Moore's law states that the number of transistors in integrated circuits (cpus for example) can only double every two years, so over a 1 year cycle it's physically impossible to obtain a chip that is 50%+ faster, that's why the S line exists for iPhones for example.

That's not the problem here. The problem is you have three phones that Apple is dropping and mostly all of them have the same specs. I like Apple, but they've gone from "revolutionary updates" to just new chips and better cameras. Don't get me wrong, having a faster phone and a better camera is great, but it's nothing compared from the jump of the 4s to the 5s. That included a fingerprint reader. The 5 to 6. Apple made the design slimmer and larger. 6 to 7. They made they're phones water resistant and added duel cameras, and 7 to 8, added wireless charging. They added new different things to their new phones while keeping they new designs they added from last year. The X to the XS is just a better camera and a new chip. It doesn't feel like a "revolutionary update" as much as it does just releasing the X all over again.
Edit: You guys’ have valid points. My main gripe with it is that it didn’t feel like new phone rather than a slight spec bump from the previous models. This is just my opinion. I know where all of you guys are coming from and I agree. There isn’t much to improve with a new phone. But they can make changes to the design. Who would’ve thought that people would ever be able to put there phones in a tub of water. The apple line of products is innovation after innovation. This new phone doesn’t feel like an innovation. I also now know that the S stands for speed and this was a speed bump. I guess I expected more, which is my fault.

To be honest, if I had the cash, I'd upgrade my 7 Plus to a Note9 instead of the XS Max. I'd still keep the 7 Plus though, cuz Apple Ecosystem.

Joey Castellon I upgraded from my 256GB iPhone X to the Note 9 and absolutely love it. Still have the X, but I also own the 2018 12.9 iPad Pro so I’m contemplating selling the X as I can still use my iPad Pro for the Apple Ecosystem. It’s ironic that even the New iPhone XS Max doesn’t have the split screen that my Note 9 has! 😂 Fuck Apple.

Chiponmashoulda I’ve had the Note 9 since release and have yet to experience any lag, I use it a lot daily. I’ve been with Apple since the very first iPhone all the way up to iPhone X, this Note 9 is my very first android device.. What I can do on it blows my mind when compared to the extreme limitations of an iPhone. iOS is so boring it makes me bang my head against the wall. The customizations on the Note 9 with the skins, and interchangeable true live wallpapers are incredible unlike Apple’s so called “live wallpaper” which you have to 3D Touch for it to be activated and work until you let go.. LOL! When browsing websites and watching any media on the Note 9 it is SO MUCH BETTER than iPhone it’s insane. I don’t see anything better on an iPhone at all, after now owning the Note 9. It’s flawless. I can even download torrents right on the device, and moving files back and forth from PC to Note 9 is all drag and drop unlike apples prison cell of an ecosystem. The Note 9 is a much better phone and this is coming from a true Apple sheep who is no longer blind. Cheers.
Chiponmashoulda keep in mind that the phones in the stores are running in demo mode which makes them run like crap. You can play with laptops and PCs as well and see how they run much slower with the demo. I even had a guy working at Bestbuy say he hated how they had to put the demo on the products
They killed off the iPhoneX & don't sell it anymore because they knew this was a no-substance upgrade & it would literally eat up all the sales of iPhone Xs, Xs Max & Xr.
I fully support incremental upgrades, it's much better than buying a product with 1 or 2 year old tech inside when newer tech is available, but don't hike the price & pretend it's a new revolutionary product because it comes in 1 more colour option!
Also you just know that Apple won't bring the improved portrait mode to any other phone because they're just like that. It was the same with Animoji only being on the iPhone X despite not using the faceID sensor. You gotta buy a whole new phone if you want the new software

Tech guy i can get iphone x which doesn't differ from xs anything but slightly slower performance and not obsolete like xr. Before the release you would get x for 1000 now you get it for much less

One thing I've noticed quite surprisingly is that the Max is much easier to hold than the 7 Plus or 8 Plus. This isn't only because the previous models used slippery aluminium, but the Max is ever so slightly smaller, which makes it significantly easier to hold for me. It's not top heavy like the Plus and I can click icons even up to mid top section comfortably with one hand. Also I noticed the White Max sides are pure metal (cold to touch) whilst the Black and Gold have a resin coating or rubbery feel (and not cool to touch), which is great as it adds more grip. Little nuances that count!

So let me get this straight. Samsung does an iterative upgrade with the S9/Note 9 and people wonder where the innovation is, but Apple does it (AGAIN) and it's passed off as simply, "the classic iPhone S upgrade."

What makes an iPhone different from "Just another Android phone?" Android & IOS are both standardised platforms. Thanks to Qualcomm the Android chipset is mostly standardised, just like iPhones are with Apple's A series. Your "point" is moot.
