What's Going On?! | Multiple Baylor Football Starters Held Out of BYU Loss With "Discipline Issues"

- Baylor coach Dave Aranda announced after Saturday's game multiple starters were not part of the 34-28 loss to BYU with "discipline issues". Sunday, Waco Tribune-Herald reporter Zach Smith reported both LB Steve Linton and TE Michael Trigg were suspended. Linton transferred in from Texas Tech and Trigg transferred from Ole Miss this year, with Trigg having left the Rebels last September.
The Bears once again fell behind at home early in the loss to BYU, down 21-0 in the first quarter. Dave Aranda explains this year's team is different, but why do they continue to run into the same issues that led the Bears to a 3-9 record last year?

I think we all agree that parents commenting and going at fans on social media is embarrassing to everyone involved. It just makes you cringe.
They're probably never going to say what happened for them to get suspended, but I feel it was the difference of the game
Idk about your thoughts cam, but definitely hope fans kinda see why some head coaches are staunchly against the portal, I’d almost bet this is why Aranda was hesitant to begin with. On top of paying Finn, and it just falling apart. I really do believe Aranda deserves only a small part of the blame, these are almost grown men, being paid at that.
Rumour is they like the wacky weed; at Baylor that's a big no-no. Lots of other schools wouldn't care.

I have a lot of respect for coach Aranda. In an NIL world some coaches won''t hold their players accountable, but coach Aranda does. That says a lot about his integrity.. He's a man of character. I know that Coach Whittingham says a lot of good things about him.
We’ve got some work to do. Our issues are greater than CDA. Pained me to watch people walking out @ the 1/2 after succumbing to the 1st qtr Blitzkrieg. Winning cures a lot! Let’s get these guys off suspension, get back on the field, & win some games! We know how to do this! Sic ‘em!
Honestly, we really don't care. He needs to win or he needs to go. This team isn't terrible, but your leader has to have a winning mindset. Dave sadly does not. The transfer portal amounts to more than the recruiting class imo. So byyeeee.
Baylor should win most of their games... that byu game was theirs ...to find out they were missing starters... is a relief.. the team doesn't suck lol

I get it, students have no excuse, but It’s not like the Athletic department is doing anything major to incentivize alumni/ external fan support. (50% of your weekend, $50 in gas to travel, $50 for the cheapest ticket possible to watch your Alma Mater get destroyed in the first half the last 2 seasons is a tough sale). Make the cheapest bleacher tickets $20 instead of $50 (or buy 2 get 2 free, give tickets to the local high school football teams, etc.) and add a free water bottle voucher since our program is only getting 11am slots from here on out. If the AD wants fans to sacrifice time and money for a losing program to “fill the stands” and “save face” they need to make a proportionate sacrifice.
Suspension? Good on ya Coach. Standards. Potentially saving these young mens lives.

Cam - your take on fan support is off-putting. That was the 8th consecutive Big 12 loss at home. And now athletes who get paid and can't abide by team rules result in suspension. The fan support is not the problem. My time and money have limits. I will support the team up until the point where players who are getting paid violate team rules.
Maybe baylor was lucky to not be blown out in Colorado? 😂 is Baylor in hibernation mode?
If we fired Dave who would replace him next year who would even be the candidates
I hope those suspended guys learned their lesson, and I wasn’t pleased with the crowd either. Anyway there was something else that infuriated me more than loss. I literally saw a woman in Baylor gear was cheering for byu when byu was doing positive plays including byu scoring points. She was acting like a fool, and I know that she was drunk for a fact but still doesn’t excuse how she acted because she should know better. The woman was even doing the Sic’em during the national anthem which is so disrespectful. I don’t know she is, but man it was annoyance to see.
But as far as recruiting as long as they are paying it should be fine. You pay you keep up with the bigger name schools the wins will come
Winning breeds culture not vice versa. You have to look no further than the basketball program. With regards to setting back the program has that not already happened based on the performance of the last 2 years?
