    Thanks for highlighting hair sensitivity. My hair gets brittle when stylers have protein and aloe causes extreme flash drying. So tired of hearing people say I must just be using my stylers incorrectly.

      YOU ARE NOT ALONE ♥️ I had terrible reactions to coconut oil on my postpartum hair; its been 4 years and my hair accepts it in tiny quantities but anything more and thats it, its frizzy brittle junction.

    I've made two mistakes that you highlighted: Using too much product and this lead to build up. Then my scalp got itchy and I thought it needs a cowash! I was so wrong. Now I only use a leave-in on all wash days, if I feel like styling (which is now rare) I will use a foam or a light hold, completely plant-based gel. No hard hold gels with synthetic polymers - that stuff builds up on my hair like crazy. I also get face acne with creams and hard hold gels. Also, I so agree with you that creams and gels build up on hair a lot and we need to use tiny quantities of them. I guess when I started my journey I thought let's put more product maybe it'll make my hair wavier or give me curls. It only gave me build up 😢

    scalp health is a tough one.. hard to keep up with but I stopped plopping my hair and hardly if ever use hydrating shampoo (I need cleansing ones) but unfortunately I don't know how sustainable it is for me (in terms of how much time and energy I have) to wash my hair every other day which is what my oily scalp needs... and as a college student it gets my parents annoyed and makes me look like I spend too much time on my hair..

      using strong shampoos every other day is what is likely making your scalp oily. and your parents are right to feel that way, its unhealthy use of time and also damaging for curly hair to be washed and style ever so often - especially when you’re using unsafe hair products (judging from your previous comments) Thank you for sharing your experiences with me. I suggest alternating clarifying shampoo with cowash, and using silicone-free hair products to start with. If you’re a student living with yoir parents, you must be so young, and stay encouraged, young people have better hormones so you’re in a stage where you likely don’t need a lot of products for upkeep once you’ve figured out the right ones. You are also welcome to try the DIY stuff- some of them work wonderfully for my low porosity hair - you can find DIYs on my blog - here is a link 🔗 honestliz.com/?s=diy

    I feel like sometimes if I used too much curl cream or gel and it got on my scalp it irritates it so Ive been more careful to only add those about 3-4 inches away from my scalp. Yet I still get some root lift maybe its the way I dry my hair at scalp first to prevent scalp issues

    Can I use a condition as leave in conditioner???

    • @HonestLiz
      @HonestLiz  Месяц назад

      unless it’s specified on the bottle? some conditioners are ok to leave-in. But others that are suggested to rinse off, those really build up. So check the brand instructions and take a judgement call♥️
