Dude thank you!!! I would've never found these extra bits if you didn't upload them. I'm stoked, wished he had done more originally! I've already taken some bits from his production style and applied it in my own way and it spawned a new song which is awesome :D His use of an Auto Filter on the main lead chords is soooo perfect for getting some emotion and movement.
“They don’t know they’ll never get out. They don’t know their way around (Welcome to Trench) They don’t know they’ll never get out [????]” can’t figure out that last part
Maybe he knew about Overcompensate and the Clancy album from working on it, he knows it's a cycle and we never get to actually leave Trench. It's an inside joke, welcome to Trench, welcome back to Trench. Being forced to revisit darkness or trauma, to pull emotion and experience to pour into lyrics and music. Trench is a metaphor for "Migraine" splitting your brain in half like a trench, at war with two sides, polarized. Nobody can leave Trench and everyone has their own personal world in their head, built for escapism (cognitive dissonance) and is a part of our identity, like a shadow at our side. Well, that's my opinion at least. I could be crazy. Hotel California - "You can check in at any time, but you can't never leave"
as a producer this shit made me realize that i don’t utilize EVERYTHING to get an insane sound. opened my eyes a whole lot more
this guy is a fucking genius. i'm so hyped for the new album
I don't understand a single thing about music, but damn am I glad that Paul Meany helped with Trench because this is amazing.
Love the little "Paul voices" sprinkled throughout Trench :)
