Loved seeing your week. I batch cut the paper patterns but only cut one fabric at a time. Nearly gasped when you put your fabric in the washer without overlocking the raw edges!! So brave. Wonderful to have family time - such beautiful pictures. Good Luck with your ambitious plans- I am sure they will all be wonderful. Happy Sewing. 😊 Lynne
Well back in the day you just washed the fabric. I wouldn't stitch before washing in case of shrinkage which would lead to the fabric gathering or pulling. Its just me x
@@runningsewandsew I do get what you mean because I sometimes worry my fabric will distort due to the overlocking. I was not taught to sew and have picked up everything from a book and You Tube. I only started overlocking after washing 2 fabrics together and spending an age untangling them 😅
Loved your vlog here! I too cut out several projects at a time and organize them in zippered plastic envelopes. It helps me in so many ways. After I get 5-10 projects cut out including all the prep work of notions gathered and pieces fused with interfacing, I start the actual sewing. I dislike cutting out, and doing many items in a day or two gets it out of the way, I’m not overwhelmed and I get on with the happy sewing part.🙌. Thanks for this video, we are of similar age and disposition, I feel like I’ve gotten caught up with an old friend after your vlogs.
Ah ha! I accidentally discovered that you had just released a vlog! You’re in sewing prep mood and have also done some sewing. LOVE the cover stitching on your top. So professional looking. Such a busy with life girl too! Relatives, friends, dogs, shopping, fabric and gardening. Go Judi GO! Just watching the cruise ship leave the pier and head for Santorini now then off to bed. Hugs!
You gave me some great ideas in this vlog, thank you! After I've washed my fabric I snip off a bit of one corner so I always know I've washed it. About 15 years ago I cut out a BUNCH of blouses from my favorite pattern and they have been in storage ever since. I've lost enough weight to be able to wear them again so now I need to find them and sew them up!
Wow, you have been a busy bee, Judi! Looks like you have some great projects to sew up. I love that printing feature on the Sewhouse seven patterns. It is so useful to know exactly which pages to print! Lovely to see P&M and baby George ❤
Judi, how wonderful to have family 🥰. I like to do all my cutting out at once too, usually 5 - 10 projects. I, too, am a very particular “cutter outer” so I set up, cut and mark, then put everything for that task away. I really liked this diary style! Much love ❤️
So glad you’re happy with Patternsy. I think they’re excellent, but rarely hear them talked of. What a special time to have so many generations together. Seems like you had a good half term all round.
Hi - no I don’t. In the days of no overlockers fabric was just washed. I can usually tell if it’s been washed because of the slight fraying but normally I wash fabric just as I’m about to use it. Fragile fabric is washed in a pillow case. Xx
Thank you Eileen. I have lost over 3 stone but that its now. I've not said too much about it because it was something I was doing for me, or should I say I needed to get back to where I was pre pandemic!!!! nxxx
Lovely chatty vlog Judi. I’m so pleased you’ve had the same experience I’ve had with them over the years - I agree with @sarahel2114 - they don’t get spoken about enough!

Enjoy your videos.
Oh thank you so much for saying xxx
I really enjoyed that vlog :)
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching x
Do you overlock your fabric cut edges before prewashing to prevent fraying? I do, and that way I know later whether I have prewashed!
