- A collection of Teds
The subculture came out of a wave of revivalism since, in the early 1950s, wealthy young men in London started being interested in the style of the Edwardian period: the name 'Teddy' is in fact short for 'Edwardian', and was coined in 1953 by the Daily Express newspaper.
By the late 60s the Teds were slowing moving on, Then in the 70s a new generation came along, Rock`n`Roll became popular and these new Teds were Rockin the 70s and 80s, and causing as much trouble as their predecessors. today these same Teds are still the teds they were back in the day.

Old Age Teddyboy love it, I go back a long way, loved all of it.
Hi, I am pleased to hear from someone who were there for the ken Russell series, do you know what happened to Jean and the others, wonder how they fared in a rapidly changing world after those pics were taken, would love to read more but cannot seem to find anything more.
rockin roller those were the days, about 1956 Photo’s taken (ours )in Nth Kensington W10.. twin girls Rosie and Elsie, Mary and Jeanie. Elsie passed away some years ago, had moved to the coast, Jeanie has passed also. Rosie is and Mary was ok when I last saw her a couple of months age. Events at the Spits,G, Teddies ( st Edwards school) oxford and Burberry H/Qu followed. Interesting . Whole families of revived Teds were at the Spitz Spitalfield, all the gear and camera’s out, good fun, Ken Russell was there too.
@@Teddyb1939 very pleased to hear from you, yours and your childhood friends memories have been preserved now and even after we're all long gone, these cherished memories will remain for many to see and wonder in amazement. Hello. A very stupid but very earnest question: over here in Canada we only heard about mods and rockers. Where did the Teds fit into that? Were you the guys with the winkle pickers?
Its a good question if you dont know, The Teds, or Teddy Boys and Teddy Girls came along in 1953, long before Rock`n`Roll hit the shores of England, the Teds were the very first subculture to hit the Uk, and did they hit it, pretty much from the get go they were rowdy and causing trouble, the clothes they were were special, we call them Drape suits, the shoes they were would have been brogues or Chukka boots with thick crepe soles, the clothes were designed on the Edwardian era, hair was combed tight on the sides with a Quiff at the from and a DA at the back, Im a revival Ted, we started back in the 70`s, and caused as much trouble as those 50s Teds, only we didnt fight each other, we had punks, skinheads and mods to contend with, my condensed version doesnt do it justice, but if you google Teddy Boys you will find out who we are and our place in Rock`n`Roll, i have been a Ted now over 40 yrs.
Coldlake the Teddy Boys dressed different, often wearing Long drape jackets, had slick hair, thick crepe soles ,often had a rebellious demeanor and could be very aggressive and violent at times.
Cool days didnt we have a good time? And we are still rocking to this day
Today 13-11-2023 yessss we're still Rocking around. There is no stopping the Teds and Rockers. We don't die,we only smell that way.😂😂😂😊😅
