And here I thought that Boars Head was a higher-end deli meat. This really makes you wonder how the cheap stuff is made.
Read Sinclairs ‘The Jungle’ about meat factories in new york 100 years ago. Any industry that profits off of dead bodies is gonna stink.
Makes me sick.
🤮
It is high end, and I doubt you've ever had it
It's even missing "A" on their sign!@@markthrasher6770
Totally ruined their brand they went from Boar's Head to Pigs ass
More like maggot head
Truth Fuzzy, Truth....
Our school district is STILL using them for all their sandwiches I can’t believe it

It takes years to develop a positive reputation. Minutes to lose it all…..
Put someone in jail
I used to inspect plants for a living from a job I’m retired from with commercial pest control. We had to service plants like that twice a month and it is very detailed and time consuming. Part of our job was to write a sanitation report which a copy is kept for in-house inspectors to read and well as any government inspectors. A very detailed log book had to be kept. It is mind boggling to read that they had 69 violations. Usually 2 and no more than 3 will cause a big fire drill for everyone involved. Some of those reports list conditions that took some time to become so unsanitary and it didn’t happen overnight, some are outright gross! Clearly the people who run Boars Head had a corporate culture among themselves where sanitation conditions didn’t matter.
We always had Boars Head meat in Jackson Hole Wy. And when we moved to another stste, I beg the store to get Boars Head for the deli & unfortunately, it was turkey which I don't like. I wanted their Roast Beef! Then this happens! I'll stick to making my own.
Where can I see this report ?
I stayed in Jackson Hole this summer for vacation, my family ate boars head meat the whole time… luckily none of us got sick
For $18.99 a lb with their Roast Beef, they're done. They went the way of McDonald's, over-priced trash. Cheaper to just cook the beef and slice it at home.
That is insane!! I guess you are paying extra for insect parts, sludge drips from the ceiling, and mold🤢 I have never bought Boars head and am relieved.
That's what we always bought for sandwiches in Jackson Hole, Wy.
Lots of lawsuits coming rightfully
Sometimes you get bad apples in management and production quotas become more important than visible problems. I never worked for Boar's Head but have been in companies where I highlighted issues and was told to mind my business and worry only about my immediate job. In this work environment, quota numbers become more important than quality.
Sounds like Boeing.
Cheap labor too....
Sometimes to save money you hire lazy ,cheap labor. If they are not healthy people can spread many serious illnesses in premade food. I won't even eat out anymore unless i know the entire staff! Too many illegals.
@@stevek343undocumented illrgal cheap labor. You will see more of this.
Or they'll call you a goody-two shoes or brown-noser for wanting people to follow basic food safety procedures.
I worked in food manufacturing and saw it all the time. It's a mix of poor management, a culture of apathy and higher ups who are more concerned with padding their bottom line than ensuring a quality product.
And they thought they were saving money by cutting corners.
The lawsuits are going to say otherwise.
You would think so, wouldn't you? I'd bet lawsuit settlements and fines are factored into the business model, and they still make a tidy profit.
Boarshead in Virginia is going to close, nobody is going to buy boarshead again, then the lawsuits. It's obvious the management their is the problem and why would anyone trust this brand again would be Russian roulette.
What really gets me, is they're EXPENSIVE! and we still bought them for sandwiches. Never again! If they had that many violations...they simply don't care! I don't care for them anymore!
Ridiculous. You know how much this stuff costs?! And they don’t even care about their food! Food companies need to stop acting like we’re their serfs.
Most people either have no idea about the nasty conditions in most food production outfits or choose to adopt the "out of sight, out of mind" attitude and eat all kinds of gross and very unhealthy stuff. That's why healthier options, like locally-sourced, free-range, etc. are so much more expensive.
Oh yes. The canned food industry is nasty too
@RUclips-tied - even that is a marketing scheme. Not saying there aren’t better options but you really have to check the fine print.
Lately, my local organically raised meats have been at the same price or only a few cents more expensive than nasty store bought meats! You can truly see and taste the difference. I'm paying $5.99/lb for grass fed, locally raised ground beef. The chicken breasts are $7.99/lb. Basically the same as the Walmart, Giant Eagle, etc. trash meat.
So where were the results of the routine USDA inspections during the past months and years. Contaminated conditions as described here do not just happen overnight. Boars Head sales depend on their extremely good image. I guess that's gone now?! Not much left on the consumer market these days. Sounds like corruption here.
amen
Just like the FDA never testing drugs that approved
you think just the deli cuts are corrupt? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
I believe there should be USDA inspectors there daily to inspect the plant. Can’t have those conditions overnight. As you said, sounds like corruption.
When I worked at General Mills the USDA, and FDA would come in around once a year to check the scrambles department and they maybe spent an hour or 2 on the floor if that... we knew in advance when inspections were gonna happen and we were told to keep our areas clean. Processed food plants are nasty, I mean absolutely nasty. We used to go 2 weeks in-between sanitation (cleaning the lines) during busy season and it was down right disgusting. I no longer support GM due to their treatment of me, and any chance I get I will spill the beans on what I saw there within the plant. I'd rather go eat food made in a food trough on a farm before eating anything from General Mills...
Edit: For clarity, I was a full-time employee in the plant and most of the "quality" checks just got pencil whipped to save time
Unfortunate. When Boars Head first came to WA in QFC and FM stores, it was game changing. Some of the best grocery store sandwiches. 2014-2017.
I was tempted to try. Glad, I didnt.

You got to be crazy to ever buy a boars head product again.
The thing that's scary too is that it's cut on the same machines as other meats. So even if you don't buy boars head in particular, it could still contaminate things.
I'm going to keep buying. It's the best deli meat out there. I haven't had a problem. They already removed the tainted meat from the market. There's other plants. This didn't scare you all away from Chipotle. Which had 5 lysteria contaminations between 2016 and 2018....
@markthrasher6770 funny example...my local Chipotle is a cesspool. Running joke on how soon board of health shuts it down
@JCL1023 Yeah, one time, my friend really, really wanted Chipotle (i didn't want to go, but i knew she was craving it and gave in), and I just got chips. Never went back since and never will. There are way too many horror stories.
like a bud light
I literally thought that Boars Head was a trust worthy brand for deli meat. Bought it many many times, but no more. That trust is shaken beyond repair. How could they just ignore such things? Boars Head is no more.
We have done away with the American standard...and we have replaced it with feelings and wokeness! We are producing sub-par workers and it is coming back to haunt us. Look at how even the military has lowered their "standards" to except sub-par soldiers......
Seems like that plant has not been cleaned for at least the last year.
Why didn't USDA close it earlier ⁉️ they had at least 69 violations and they were still open ⁉️
Agree. We don’t know how often they were inspected… I don’t know if the violations were over a period of inspections or after one inspection. To be shut down, a plant has to have a certain amount of violations. I have no clue what took so long …
@@DK-rk4qswe had just had an inspection a few months ago and passed with an A
@@TimReed-q1lan A what? I used to inspect plants from a job I’m retired from. Reading those reports the unsanitary conditions didn’t suddenly happen overnight, the one mentioning “meat film on walls” took some time to quantify for that one!
@@steveblankenship5474 yea that just show how corrupt the system is wen it comes to capitalism. Us as employees didn’t understand how was we passing. As employees we didn’t understand why we wasn’t shut down a long time ago. This particular plant bends the rules a lot to keep production going
@@steveblankenship5474 also our sanitation department has been short of help for months.
I used to haul meat to various meat packing plants and they all had on site USDA inspections and what I can tell you is the whole USDA inspected label is a joke.heres the deal, the inspector is assigned to a plant and has an office and everything there.they go to work there every day and do their 9to5 thing and go home with a decent paycheck and government benefits and it's all good.if they see a bunch of violations like we see here AND REPORT THEM guess what? the plant gets shut down, sometimes permanently, and they're reassigned to the nearest plant that needs an inspector which sometimes means packing up and moving to another state or something.or just find another type of job in that area, most likely not as cushy as their USDA inspector job was so guess what? THEY DON'T REPORT THE VIOLATIONS so it'll be business as usual and they can continue to go to work each day and do their 9to5.its not in their best interest to upset the apple cart if you know what I mean.theyll reject a load of meat if its bad to prevent an outbreak or something and make it look like they're doing something, but to make a fuss about stuff like rats and roaches aint happening.if you're a lab tech working at the only lab within 500 miles you're not gonna do something to get it shut down same with the inspectors.
It’s hard to believe this. That meat is so expensive.

Buy an infected plant from grocery store, USDA knocks on your door within a week to retrieve the plant. But tainted deli meat, ... CDC and FDA hope you watch the news.
What they did if flat out disgusting and criminal charges are justified! They should never be allowed to open again!
Stores selling this often are not keeping equipment clean and sanitized also dates should be checked regularly and rotated:
Disgusting. This is what greed eventually leads to.
Jesus be with the ones that is sick
I worked in a food processing plant in the 70's just out of high school. I worked the steam hose which cleaned the processing machines each night. We had a huge USDA Office on the main floor and they would take swabs to test each morning after we cleaned. We were always nervous we might fail a test and did not hold back in our efforts to make sure that did not happen. My mother worked in a local meat processing plant and that was the same. If hot water from the coffee maker spilled on a stainless table the line was shut down. When did this stop?! I always assumed that was the standard and always would be!
So…no regular inspections? Or paid off inspectors?
Paid off
So sad such a high end product ends this way. Won’t buy any of it again.
How did it get to be that bad in the first place wasn’t anybody checking or cleaning for that matter?
Buy small, buy local.
Typical food processing. It’s not as clean as you think. Ever see the deli worker clean the slicer,,,,properly?
Sad, that people have died from contaminated food. Young, old and immunocompromised individuals most likely, but food companies have to do better to protect customers.
I work in a supermarket that sells that brand. In another department they turn off the fans in the room where they prepare fruits and vegetables for sale. Their reason is that the cold temperature is to cold for the employees. Stupid.
Top Shelf Deli Brand just buried itself… we will never buy their deli meats ever again.
*Brand Reputation Destroyed*
Well done.
Ive been saying their quality has gone down for a while now. I blame mass production. It dilutes the quality when you try and serve too many people at once.
Ive always heard about the company but never tried them and now probably never will
The 15 dollar per price tag is crazy
They have prioritized hiring of illegals and firing locals for them , don't purchase them period

It's too bad all the regulations and inspectors were cut back a couple of years ago. Maybe if we had a proper working system of oversight this could have been avoided. The majority of businesses cannot be trusted to monitor themselves because it's an expense and it cuts into their profits. For a business profits will always win over people.
Why was this plant allowed to stay open with so many violations? Our government really sucks that they allow all of this to go on and put the public at risk for serious illness or death.
Yeah they are all pretty much detached and not doing anything of real merit. Fkrs just raking in the monies.
Why weren’t all these issues not addressed immediately and in a continuous manner? Why did it have to take the gov to step in to make them fix these issues? I’ll tell you why. These companies put profits over safety & quality. They put profits over the consumer purchasing their product. Why haven’t they been fined for lax sanitation? So many questions unanswered!!
what a disgrace this brand if finished
If any food processor is knowingly in violation of food processing regulations. They shouldn't be in business ever again. They need to be criminally charged, they need to be forced to sell the entire business.
I'll never eat that again.
Golly, they said the problem was taken care of. Believe me, I don't trust them as far as I can shit them.
Why is Safeway still selling it in there stores
Thank God for the FDA.
My heart and prayers out to all affected.
That's sad. I've eaten this for the last 4 weeks since they brought a sprouts to where I live. I felt sick but added to what else I ate that day I thought nothing of it. Kept eating sandwiches from there. But now this is so disappointing.
Oh dang, you may have dodged a bullet.
Their knockwurt hot dogs are life changing.

Self regulation is great
It should be closed permanently
And it did
There is no excuse for this, they present themselves as a premium brand and then cut as many corners as possible! Will never buy anything with their name on it again!
Lol when your FDA is as corrupt as the Italian mob and cheap labor forgets to wash their hands.😂
Lawsuits. This company wont last. RIP.

Of it in the last 2 months and I've never had a problem.
Tacking numbers and a street name to it does not "address" the problem.
Boars head is 100% to blame but where are the inspectors are tax dollars pay for at?
I’m done with BH!
Who did they hire to work in these plants and who were the managers? One wonders.
Mostly 13%

Last two times I bought and ate their American cheese from the deli, I got super migraiine headaches that were so bad, I'm never eating anything from them ever again. Felt like knives in my brain.
Factories can’t run unless USDA inspectors are there ,it’s up to them to check out any issues
@@deerhunter7482 I used to inspect plants for a living as a third party vendor. We had to do this twice a month and it is very detailed and time consuming. Sounds like dei and " newcomers" hired there. What could possibly go wrong.
What are you talking about? The owners and the employees are Trumpers.
first off on fully disgusted. How the hell can they get away with this if they’re supposed to be a health inspection. This tells me one thing that the plant, and the inspector are in each other’s pockets. Somebody’s getting a big kickback because this would not be loud if it weren’t so. I’ve managed bakeries, deli, fast food. And if any other restaurants that I managed were found several things we would’ve been shut down. Why was that not happening here here? This is what really the important thing. Do United States government no longer cares about our food supply this is why everything so freaking expensive, and people can’t afford anymore. This is also why I’ll make my own boneless skinless turkey breast, and flying on my meat slicer, as well as other luncheon meats. I won’t buy them.
This is disgusting. I always thought i was buying the highest quality sandwich meat for my family. Now that i think back...what about the service at the deli counter where they dont clean the slicing machines in between different products at my grossery store?
How did it get this bad? Where were the inspectors? 🎶Am I blue?🎵

At my grocery store, Boars head is always the most expensive compared to the rest. We’ve been duped. Thinking all along we were getting top of the line product. I won’t EVER buy from them again.
I have eaten boars head more in the past three weeks than i have in the last 3 years... at publix in Va moreover. Thank God im still alive. Nothing is safe i guess
Boars head is owned and operated by an Italian mafia family. They used to run gambling in new York in the 60s moved to the trash business in the 70s and started controlling boars head operations in the 80s. New York delis that didn’t sell boars head meat started having set of unfortunate events happening to those businesses. It’s how they got so big.
oh god. when did that start?
I will never purchase this brand again. I thought it was supposed to be good deli meat
Not trying to be rude...but how many immigrants were working there?
I can speak from experience....they usually dont give 100% when it comes to disinfecting and/or cleaning sufficiently 😮
Its the truth
Truth. Especially Mexicans. They don't never wash their hands. Thats how they live.😅

When in doubt close it down.
Why would I have deli meat in my fridge, and not know where it came from?
Tried it once many years ago and it was disgusting then!
How are stores still selling BH????? I see their products in every store.
Boars head has always been a good brand ive used and prefer. Is someone sabotaging them
if they were addressed immediately as reported none of this would have happened....... this kind of neglect of a food facility doesnt happen over night in happens with bad management over weeks and months ..... like a plane company im only 47 but for me boards head is relatively "new" I have a suggestion put Kennedy on the case...... he is a Dem after all :)
They'll just rebrand and get back to it when the heat dies down.
no catch up to that clean up !! shut it down. they let it go to far.
Isn't it already disgusting regardless?
They’ll close, settle and rebrand
Where's the A in the boars head sign lol?
If only there was some sort of government entity That was supposed to make checks on these kinds of buildings and companies to make sure we're not poisoning americans! Oh wait there is! I think we need an investigation as to why someone in the government was not doing their job here. The buck doesn't just stop with the company, because government is supposed to inspect this facility regularly
Listeria? That's what Boarshead calls flavor 😂
Boars head won't be sued out of existence?
