Thanks Martin, this video helped prevented me from making what would have been the wrong decision on a car I was planning on buying as I hadn't realised there were differences in the lighting trims. After watching this I noticed the car I was going to buy didn't have this nor the 'Air care' which I thought was standard, so I've gone back to another ID3 which I had already reserved which has both. Also I went to check the car over for the first time today and was pleased to discovered it has a panoramic roof which was not in the photos, nor description from the dealer:) Usually when I buy a car, the surprises aren't so pleasant! Hopefully it'll continue this way;)
Hi, thanks for reviewing the IQ headlights. Most reviewers seem to just leave them out. I agree with your remarks. I have an ID3 Max, have been driving it for some 20 months now. The only issues I would comment on are as follows. When the dipped beam pattern looks correct, the high beam pattern looks to high. In effect that high beam now lights the upper area of trees on the left hand side of the road. However when they are adjusted "adjuster is on each headlight housing", the high pattern beam now lights the road ahead correctly. Solution was a compromise. Now dipped beam is OK and high beam now not so high. Needed half a turn of each headlight adjuster. After 20 months of night driving, A roads and motorways have never been flashed. If VW improve them, need more individual LED segments, with more light in a narrow beam, plus the ability to spot road signs and dim the light to them. Again thanks.
When I got the car I had an issue where one of the lights was completely out of alignment (pointing into the sky). A Volkswagen dealer aligned them and all is good now. Never felt the need for higher pitch and haven't been flashed once.
To me the more infamous turn signals are the ones on newer BMWs and Mazdas. It is supposed to present a smoother blink effect but ended up looking like the bulbs are under-voltage and struggling 🤣
I used to drive an older car with a lower seating position, and the ID-3 was without a doubt one of the most annoying cars to share the road with. Early on I was convinced that these people were driving with their main beams on, until I blinked at one of them and I saw how much worse the main beam actually was. I have since driven the ID-3 a couple times and my opinion of the model has not improved. It's probably a decent fleet vehicle but I couldn't imagine buying one personally.
Longtime VW drivers may be used to older xenon moving lights .. those calibrated both vertically ( i assume for correct beam height) and horizontally - basically looking outward with each light like a chameleon (always thought it was for good sync of the electric motors turning them ) everytime they were turned on
It does not. It's the 58kWh battery version. Honestly, after having driven a Cupra Born with the bigger battery on 20" wheels, I am perfectly happy with this simpler setup.

Now that you say it, I won't be able to unsee it. 😅

Another good video,Martin, Do you do product review? We'd like to invite you to do a review for our air pump
Hello, sir, your video really helps a lot! we have a CarPlay product that you may be interested in, would you like to make a video for it?
I believe that the matrix headlights do need to be coded.
Does your ID3 have DCC?
It does not. It's the 58kWh battery version.
