The 3rd trailer shows a scene like the red/blue pill in Matrix

It's moreso about the talent behind the movie. They got Greta Gerwig to direct, and she along with Noah Baumbach are writing this.
They're two of the best writers in film today, they made Lady Bird and Marriage Story respectively. THAT'S why people are hyped, they're wondering what such brilliant people can do here.

This is a perfect example of how you do a trailer. You’re not getting a synopsis or plot of the the entire movie, but it perfectly gives you a setting and a vibe. That’s a trailer!!!
That said, I do wish I got a taste of the plot because there a lot of wrong ways to do a movie like this, and I'd like to know where the writers' heads are at.
If I had to take a guess something abouf Barbie going to the “real” world. Something about that Will Ferral scene screamed Mattel Execs. Especially how the room she’s walking out of is white and sterile. Doesn’t fit the Barbie world vibe

And have a nice plot twist where it’s a girl playing with her dad’s collection of boxed toys that she unboxed and devalued and then he gets upset until he sees how much fun she is having. And yes I said the dad’s collection as I have never seen a woman collect Barbie’s to keep in the box plus my great grandpa collected those things and never let me near them because the Harley Davidson Barbie had to stay sealed….

I love that they stayed within every thing that makes barbie barbie. It wasn’t just a glamorous blonde girl , they got the bright colours , the over the top outfits , plastic body poses and names etc. I feel like I’m watching the dolls and sets I played with as a kid come to life and it’s FUN

Nowadays, people are hyped for weird and unique things, or they just follow trends. That's why people are so hyped about this movie.
These Barbies and Kens are living out the narratives I used to create for them as a naive child and I find it endearingly wholesome and hilarious! I cannot wait!

I understand why Aqua's "Barbie Girl" wasn't chosen for the trailer originally. Barbie is an American super popular brand, a real era. And the Americans, perhaps, are simply offended that Scandinavians - not them - created such an "eternal anthem" for Barbie.
In the trailer alone you can tell that the cast had a fun time playing in a barbie world. They probably let their inner child have so much fun on this set.

As fun as this looks, can we please acknowledge that the colors are wonderfully pleasing to the eyes. Despite being so bright the cohesive palette and bright lighting brings everything together so well.

I have a feeling this is gonna be way better than what people think it’s gonna be. I feel like it’s gonna be a very meta comedy and I’m here for that. Also casting Margot Robbie as Barbie is possibly one of the best casting decisions I’ve ever seen.

Margot is the lead but all the girls are Barbies. They’re all based off actual Barbie’s that get made and then become part of Barbieland.
*very meta comedy* is what's concerning here. Ever since Deadpool every other comedy has tried pushing meta WAY too hard without understanding what it is and why it's funny (and I honestly don't think Movie Deadpool gave them a good standard).

Honestly, most people seem to think it'll at minimum be very fun. And I have to agree. I HATED Barbie as a kid (stereotypical boy vs girl thing) but this looks like a blast.

I think the story is set in the eyes of a child playing with their Barbie dolls. It's innocent and balanced out with a tiny bit of psychological horror (knowing that they are not real and they are in a fantasy world).

The ending is so emotional
I love that the Barbies all have proper jobs in their descriptions like "This Barbie is an astronaut" or "This Barbie is a doctor" or "This Barbie is the President"
But the Kens are just "This Ken is Ken" and "This Ken is also Ken" and "This 'Ken' is Micheal Cera, we don't know why he's here and neither does he", it's just perfect

This trailer looks so refreshingly colorful and fun. Even Disney movies now are all dark and gloomy, but this just looks like such a breath of fresh air. Actually excited to see this in theaters.

This is such a good movie!!!
The sets are unreal. It's like something out of a toy chest. The dialog fits so well, it's both childish and somewhat adultish. This movie look like it'll be both relaxing to watch but also keep you entertained. The cast is incredible and the plot seems interesting. Maybe next, we will get a hot wheels movie, since the creator of hot wheels is the actual husband of the woman who created barbie.

Since they cast an over 35 Ken, Henry Cavill would've been perfect. Otherwise, I agree.
Everything about there being a Barbie film suggests that it would be a failure - young girls is a very small demographic for such a high budget film. From that, I can gather that there is more to this than it seems (STILL is everyone else going to see it?), or whoever funded it is a pillock.

The way they opened with the feet still in high heel position makes a real statement. Not only because that's how we remember the dolls as kids but what it's symbolic for. Brilliant direction I can tell already..I can't wait to see this movie.

She seems skeptical about them hanging out. She sighs in frustration when Ken joins her in the car and seems frustrated by the roller blades he's excited about. My guess is the film is about them reconnecting or finally forming a friendship behind a relationship that started only because it's what's expected of them.

This feels like it came out in the 90s which is great, I hope films are starting to move back to highly stylized stuff like this. This is breath of fresh air compared to what represents the film industry these days
I have scrolled through these comments for awhile and I feel like you have said it best. Lets hope that, for all the young kids going to see this movie, that they do a good job and the movie is just as good as the trailers.
Yes. BIgger, louder and more crowded. doesn't add to one's experience. It becomes noise we filter out. I fast forward through action and fight scenes because they all feel the same. When there are too many, I stop watching. Too much noise is disaster.

Films set in unique worlds with unique sets and visuals, and remember how visually striking puppets, animatronics and practical makeup looked? CGI has took it's place. Those things still exist but no where near the level they did. Barbie stands out from the crowd of recent mainstream films for me

I laugh at the "If I weren't severely injured" line, because the Ken I played with as a child was missing both legs. When you're the youngest, all the toys have taken a beating by the time they get to you.
I love how cheesy this movie is. It genuinely seems like what a kid would make up, and everything just seems fun to watch. It's not inappropriate or dark comedy, nor some gritty action film, it's just fun.
This gives me vibes of The Brady Bunch Movie crossed with Lego Movie 😄
Kate McKinnon as the Barbie whose hair has been chopped off, face coloured on, and you’re constantly moving into the splits for no reason 👌
Her character is supposedly Gymnast Barbie, but I find it interesting she is not wearing a leotard and leggings, plus it looks like her dress was not made for her, unlike the dolls 🤔

reminded me of when I used to have Barbie and Ken sleep in the same bed & then when I got older (I played with Barbie’s until I was 11 or 12!) I remember posing them on top of each other under the blankets in the bed, then I’d leave them at it while I went to eat or something. Almost certain I made sound effects (for whatever I thought they were doing when I was that age) sometimes too 🤣. Only if my parents weren’t home. 😌😆
