    The 100 nF ( 0.1 μF ) mains rated ( X2 ) capacitor from ( most ) mains input noise suppressor units will give about 6 mA current , ideal for constructing simple LED night lights , using method shown ( tried - n - tested ) ... DAVE™ 🛑

    This circuit is dangerous in so many ways. Nothing for amateurs or permanent application.

      About the _only_ thing it is suitable for is "permanent" application where the entire system is properly electrically insulated to protect users against electric shock. I have quite a large number of commercially made and safety-agency approved devices that use such a circuit. I have had to replace the electrolytic capacitor in many of them after a couple of decades of continuous use.
      There should be some sort of fuse to protect against fire if the film capacitor fails short-circuit.

      @@ExperiMentalRaju I have mistaken to write 105J instead of 824J not 104J. 225J as u replied , is 2.2 uf whereas 824J is 0.82 uf . I require only 6v for 2w spot light which is used on false ceiling. Plz advise.

    Yes it's work . But only in pure sign wave 220v inputs. I try 220v square wave from inverter and the capacitor get hot and the output was higher than 12v the LED damage

    It is rare capaciti.
    Xc=1/(2•pi•f•C) = 1/ (2•pi•50•834•10^-9) = 3862.98 ohm
    Ohm's law: I = V / R = 230 / 3862.98 = 0.059539 A
    It is necesary to substract 2•0.65v of diodes.
    Ripple voltage is: Vr = I / (2•pi•2•f•C) = 0.06 / (2•pi•2•50•3.3•10^-6) = 28.937v

    Howdy.
    Fargin' dangerous. The capacitor does not provide galvanic separation (floating potential) as a transformer does. If plugged in the wrong way the whole circuit will carry 220 VAC against ground. Please, do not publish stuff like this.

      Esse treco é uma fonte de corrente, os LEDs são a carga e eles na saída funcionam como zeners e limitam a tensão, tipo um Led de 3V limitaria a tensão dessa fonte em 3V, e um conjunto de LEDs COB de 100V limitaria a tensão em 100V, ao menos ate um único LED queimar ou o infeliz ligar a fonte no 220V sem os LEDs na saída, dai a tensão sobe pra 310 V e explode aquele capacitor de 250V🙃

    ABSOLUETELY APPALLING in every respect
    Soldering is horrible. Construction is crap, no explanation. no details, part parameters are not discussed. the circuit is not even described [mains capacitive dropper],. Even the design is a problem [no inrush current limiting resistor to prevent the LEDs from being damaged].
