Why does the strut require the hex bit no.h5 17mm strut nut socket?

    • @autodocuk

There is no way to answer your question, you can find this information in your vehicle's technical repair documentation.

the H5 bit helps to counter hold the center shaft of the strut while tightening the 17mm nut on to it.

@@autodocuk What do you mean "There's no way to answer this question"? There's clearly an answer: it's because you can't stop the shock rod from rotating if you use a normal socket and ratchet. If the shock rod is rotating the nut won't loosen (or tighten when you get the new one on until the threads hit the nylon in the nylon locking nut.

5:56 what was the need to hack up the arm before tightening the shocks?

The mechanic used a hydraulic strut to simulate the suspension's operating position to correctly tighten the fastening parts.

Why do you spray the outside bolts with copper grease ? It is an anti seize compound and is not waterproof!

Idk, why do they wire brush clean threads for 2.2 seconds and then blast everything with WD40? *Shrug*
