Fellow introvert here! Thank you so much for sharing this advice! Being more vocal about myself and my work is something that I'm definitely trying to work on more (esp. in the classroom since I'm still in school for now and I'm learning how to take constructive criticism and give constructive feedback to people who happen to ask me). When it comes to contributing ideas... that's another thing I struggle with because I have that fear that my ideas will be pushed to the side or be told that they're stupid. Oh well, something else to get over right? Contribution or silence, right? Thanks again! 😄
9:07 I thought Toniko was having a stoke there for a second. :D Actually the gag Toniko is trying to imitate is Porky Pig when he has trouble saying something he ends up using an alternate phrasing. "Abe The, Abe The," he can't say "The end." so instead he says "That's all folks!"
Something I hear from another artist that's really good (Ethan Becker) is "Try like you'll never fail". Good advice because it also means you can feel free to do terrible, but you tried your best.
I love how the principles you gave can be applied to any job. I'm currently unable to change my profession, however, now I can see how I can make the whole process more bearable, easier and actually fun. Also, Toniko, your videos inspire me every time! Thanks for your helpful tips! 🙂
You always give such great advice about working in animation and I need to hear that stuff! So duh!!! MORE VIDEOS PLEASE!!!!! :D :D Thanks for the positive advice this time round! You're right. Being an introvert is no excuse to stay silent about what I can offer to the team. I shall speak up more often!
i have been struggling through art like you know limited materials and i am so jealous to other who have decent things to work on like having laptop with pentab but i realized that time is passing every minute so i learned to accept and let the work on. I've been saying this to all of you that you're blessed and to motivate y'all
I've been struggling with being more vocal at work due to overthinking my ideas and not always having the confidence to speak up, although I do think my ideas could have some value and like you said even if they get shot down you can grow from the criticism. (Even typing out this comment my hands are shaking haha) Your videos have been so helpful in improving my animation, and it's almost like every video you upload has helped me personally in whatever I'm trying to improve on. From now on when I have an idea at work I will think of this video and your advice and push myself to speak up more. Thanks Toniko!
Yo thanks for the video as usual! Would you like to talk about for how long you work on an idea before pitching it to peers/colleagues? I feel like I stop working on it after I tell my friends about it.
A career opportunities video would be greatly appreciated especially in the 2D animation industry or if you are someone who seeks to specialise in 2D animation.
Can't be overstated - so many of us are introverts and it's hard, but we NEED to speak up. If you don't let your studio/company what you want and where you want to go, they'll never know. If you want to get better, talk to your seniors and peers and ask how you can do that, and then follow through on it.
Can we get a video about the chances and ways of getting hired at American studios for overseas(asian) artists? Also please talk about hiring process and if freelancing experience (remote work) makes a lesser impression than a full-time studio artist experience during selection.
Best professional advice I could give is: Assume that you are an idiot. If you find out why you are an idiot, you will move one step forward in your career/life/goal. Simple self-improvement cycle that always works... for everyone. You can easily convince yourself, that you've figured out how everything works, but actually you have been a fool all along. And that's OK, because that means you can still grow! I don't know if this advice is wholesome or anxiety inducing.
Liked the video. The Porky Pig, not so much. But hey, it couldn't have been the worst impression ever. At least I recognized it as an attempt at Porky. You were going for Porky, weren't you? If not, you should make an appointment with your doctor. ;)

Could you please do a video regarding how you design your characters?

I'd like to see the different ways to pitch projects or ideas. I'm sure there are a lot of artists including myself that would like to know.
I feel Toniko. I'am hard at work on making something great.

I thought "abandon your dreams to work for a soulless company" was your best professional advice. Can't wait for this!
