      At least you can enjoy them here close up without someone noisily unwrapping a sweet behind you and another whispering loudly next to you in a theatre. Watching from home does have its advantages...

      @@nightnyungwe5945 trust me when I say that live orchestras sound WAYYY better than on RUclips. I’ve been to orchestra hall in Minneapolis and it’s soo beautiful and I would love to see this in the theatre

    I was taken by surprise when I saw ballet the first time. As I watched I was overwhelmed by the grace and the amazing performance. Not one word was spoken yet there was so many things that was said....

    Music is my first language, English is my second 👏🏾
    Every time I hear this song it gives me chills. I thank God for the ears to hear such beautiful melodies! From the birds singing every morning to rain hitting the pavement there is music everywhere. Ballet 🩰 has been a favorite of mine since my first play in elementary. Opera, symphonies, drill teams, battle of the bands, jazz, country, hip hop, R&B, classical, brass, string, piano 🎹, poetry, cultural/native dance, and nature/God’s music 🎶....I love it all 🥰

    misty has been and will always be an inspiration to me. she doesn’t have to be the best principal ballerina to have ever touched a stage but shes proof that girls who look like us can do anything we put our minds to! not for anyone else but ourselves too

      @@adrianaclark8498 I agree. Just the other day I watched Allegretto in Orlando ballet co. with a black young girl and she was totally naturally effortless joyfull born ballerina and so light.And the difference with Misty came into my mind.

      It’s not a victim card when people need advocates… I read something from the Royal ballet director that said he wasn’t willing to break up a line of white in Swan lake… It’s really ridiculous and ballet needs more beautiful dancers if color regardless if the current dancers don’t say anything… Ballets also need to be more culturally sensitive in general and the San Francisco ballet’s Nutcracker proves this can be seamless… so happy for all these beautiful people adding to the beauty of ballet… ❤

    I Love Swan Lake and thought at last i had the chance to see it in person but it was cancelled due to Covid until next year, hope i get to see it then, love the ballet and think the dancers are superb.x Anne.

    I look up to Misty Copeland so much I wish to be a broadway star and dance like this one day too any day I feel like I’m a bad dancer I watch her and it lifts my spirit so much she inspires me to practice 😊

      Swan Lake is a classical ballet, not a Broadway performance. Even though Misty’s performance resembles more a Zumba class at the fitness-studio

    My parents took me to see Eric Bruhn in Copelia when I bwas 5. I saw Nureyev and Fonteyn in 63 and Barishnikov in the 70’s. If I could see Polunin, I would die a happy woman

      Misty is my favorite ballerina and I think her darker skin contrasted with the white ballet outfit is absolutely stunning. She is a gift from god and let's look at her genius and ballet beauty and nothing else

    All the motions are there but the swan part is missing. I don’t think Swan Lake yet suits her. She seems intimidated by this repertoire and is still focused on the steps/positions rather than the lyricism.

      Yes, gnomatic reverie, this is not a role for her she is not a swan type, there is not the light fluidity and grace light body of someone like Svetlana Zhakarova.
      She is more suited for an athletic role or a gymnast.

    I’m no big fan of ballet, and I don’t know the first thing about,but I’ve compared this to a few other dancers doing the same piece after seeing how divided people are in the comments. I have to agree with those who do not like this version. I don’t think she has the same grace and talent as the other young ladies I saw.

    She has such beautiful lines and grace!! I absolutely love her! 😍😍😍 I did ballet up until I was 16, and I wish I could have done it longer like Misty. I’ve always been a ballet fan though! She’s definitely one of my favorite ballet dancers 😍.

    I danced,my daughters danced I have been part of Ballet since I was a child in Cuba so believe when I say that this lady dance but, she is not a Ballet Dancer! which it’s something totally different. It is sad to think that she has been given the rank of “Principal Dancer” when I am sure other dancer were a lot more prepared for such rank.

      I’m sorry you feel so strongly about someone else’s career. I don’t think everyone is blind or stupid by having ranked her that way. Maybe times are changing, maybe there’s a bit of envy on your part or a bit of both. I just had to respond as I grew up surrounded by Cubans and for some nothing is as good as what they can do. A sense of grandiosity runs in their veins. Sadly all that talent and knowledge couldn’t save their Island.

      Well everyone has the right to evaluate anyone’s technique. As someone who was a professional dancer and teacher...and an American not Cuban which shouldn’t mean anything? she is simply not ready for this rank as principal. It is a technical thing. Not a personal thing. I do however think it’s sad that people of color are so rarely given their due reward for hard work in the ballet world...then Misty gets this rank clearly for other reasons besides her technique. There’s a real lack of inclusion for those who can truly handle something like a principal rank.

    Carrément pas un cygne... pas faite pour le classique . Un répertoire plus contemporain lui irait à merveille. Le problème du classique, c’est que la technique ne pardonne pas. La sienne est ... perfectible . Une sympathique artiste , une femme forte et courageuse mais elle ne donne pas le meilleur d’elle même dans ce répertoire .

      Forgive my reply in English. You are right. She is not right for the role. Much of the joy in watching a ballet like Swan Lake is marveling at the magnificent lead dancer so swan-like in her movements. Misty C is lovely, but not in this role. One need only watch this alongside many other versions to see the difference.

      Наши пока держатся, но тоже не все радужно в русском балете. Американцы хороши в модерновых постановках, вот туда ей и дорога, а не лебедя изображать в классике. Но такую попробуй тронь, вой будет на весь континент. Она даже Большой театр умудрилась в расизме обвинить и с ее подачи в сети затравили русских балерин, которые танцевали в Баядерке. Постановке, которая и до Мисти шла, и после нее будет, когда о ней самой забудут сто раз.

      I also think she is a strong woman, underwent injuries, pushed hard, kept on going, got the publicity as the first woman of color in a major Theatre, ABT, but in the wrong profession.she would be possibly great as a gymnast. She is not a born ballerina like Zhakarova, Osipova, Kaptsova, those are Swans, etc.
      you either are it or not. And she is not,she probably has to work twice as hard.

      But we shouldn’t be downgrading ballet to appeal to a wider audience. In truth, Misty is an incredible athlete, but she is not a great dancer. Her promotion was a publicity stunt.

      Can the replies just stop? Never compare ballerinas. Everyone dances differently, and that’s what’s so beautiful about ballet.
      If you expect everyone to dance as beautifully as Svetlana Zhakarova, she wouldn’t be a unique ballet dancer anymore. And that’s what’s special about ballet, the uniqueness of everyone’s dancing.

      I agree! I am also black... So my comments is not based on her skin colour or ethnic. I do support anybody regardless of skin color when it comes to dancing as I am a very passionate dancer myself ...
      I think she should focus mainly on contemporary ballet, she is far better at it... Classical ballet is just not for her... Everybody are differents and have different natural talents. Surely she is talented but not in CLASSICAL BALLET. it's just not for her. Hope that one day she humbly, finally realised that fact before she retires...

      Она Волочкова номер два) Только той партии давали за деньги "папика", а этой за цвет кожи. Сделали из неё бренд "Первая чёрная прима в ABT", была бы белая, танцевала бы третью лебедь в пятом ряду всю жизнь. Но попробуйте объяснить это американцам (я пыталась!), сразу обвиняют в расизме...

      There are highly knowledgeable people about this beautiful art who with their knowledge help new dancers or educate the not dancers.
      I think she would have been a good, even excellent gymnast.

Heres a hard truth, you’re just being a flat out hater! You think she’s terrible but guess what she’s doing what you will never be able to do and if you have done it, you won’t do it again. She’s living her dream while you are just being a flat out hater on RUclips. Her technique is better than yours, she’s lighter than you, she’s a better dancer than you, and more successful than you, she has inspired many black girls which is more than you’ve inspired, she doesn’t have to sit on RUclips stalking comments about you because 1. You will never be as good as her and 2. Your level of talent is nonexistent compared to hers. Do better!

      Oh yeah. She's so close to the audience, that's why. In ballets in a theater the dancers are father away from the audience and often have bigger/louder orchestras, that's why you don't hear them.

    Misty Copland-is not the best dancer. In the worst theatres in London,Paris and Moscow we can find better ballerinas than she is. Strong,heavy,not plastic. She could be good fitness instructor.

    Como es posible que ABT, después de Baryshnikov, Makarova, Kirkland, Herrera y pare contar pongan Misty Copeland como principal dancer y darle el rol de Odette., que envés de un cisne parece un pato. Se ve pesada y sin gracia., prácticamente no entra en el personaje.

      Porque es la que más entradas vende. Cuando canceló por lesión, la gente se levantó y se retiró de la sala, quedó sólo un tercio del público para ver la función de su reemplazante. Es una celebrity, y la compañía necesita vender entradas y la publicidad que atrae Copeland es asombrosa. Es un fenómeno de marketing...La calidad de la danza... no le importa a casi nadie.

      It’s because of social engineering which really picked up in 2020 with the fake, planned by the cabal B l m movement. They have been purposefully trying to divide Americans by causing strife between the races. They’re using this Misty as part of their project.
