This is slow-burn appreciated creativity; not accessible to those of us with only mediocre talent to discover from the score alone. Huge gratitude to all involved.
There is much to love in this performance but what I admire most is the utter clarity of rhythm, something Liszt was reportedly adamant about. Particularly in the second fourth movements, the ear was never in doubt. In many other otherwise convincing performances, impetuous virtuosity runs roughshod over the finer rhythmic gestures, creating a thrilling but somewhat undifferentiated texture, and therefore a less engaging one. But here, with equal facility, this pianist achieves what Liszt strive to impart to his students: true virtuosity.
Elias Durzi No kidding. What a disappointment !! Thematically and pianistically this coda is supreme. It didn't have the panic of a memory slip, which almost makes it MORE alarming, but three viciously hard pages were omitted. Medtner needs a wider audience in the West.

I know that all-Medtner concerts happen quite often in Russia - I wish they happened in the UK too... This is a lovely sonata, well played.
Quite frankly "quite often" is an overstatement... And Medtner's music does get played in the UK quite a lot!
@@ClassicalRaritiesChannel Please do let me know the next time you see an all-Medtner program advertised in the UK...
Absolute Beauty .... could listen forever

Fantastic !
I just found out about Medtner and his music is so beautiful! He isn’t that well known after all but this is a gorgeous sonata.
Andy Milsten he has many marvelous sonatas. I’ve also just found out about his music for 4 months and digged out almost all of his sonatas.
Divine !! Thank you Mr Dubov
обожаю метнера и березовского!прекрасное сочетание!
Нельзя говорить - обожаю .
обожаю говорили "генеральши" когда-то. Читайте русскую литературу.
@@elizabethgrachev6954 Berezovsky may not be a Field Marshall like Franz Liszt, but he is surely an excellent General.
Though you skipped the coda in the finale but I still like your performance! I wish you played the marvelous coda!

Да вот шёл мимо дай думаю зайду сыграю непринуждённо так подумалось ну и зашёл и сыграл
Memory slip at 19:23?
He should not have skipped the great coda
It could have been a pie, but it is soup !
great but hamelin is far faster and musical from 7,06
Hamelin is faster, yes.
Do you really think that speed is anything but a choice for Berezovsky?
Pensive.
