    Actually you can use this rack with bikes that have fenders. You just remove the bolt on the side where the spool will hit the fender. Next select a lower location where spool placement will not hit the fender and reinsert the bolt to mount the spool at this new location. Finally, place a strap around the wheel to fix it down on the rack if the spool is below the wheel. This will prevent the wheel from bouncing up if you hit a bump. I use elastic TPU tensioning straps with metal buckle, but many other straps will work.

      Have two ebikes without fenders and about to get a fat tire one that does. However, the new bike has a rear rack like the one in this video so I will immediately remove the rear fender since the rack will serve the purpose. If there is not a rear rack, a tire-hugging rear fender can be replaced with one of the numerous inexpensive ones that clamp to the seatpost and provides plenty of room to clamp the tire. You don't need to forgo the best bicycle rack just for the sake of a rear fender.

    Thanks for your review - it really helped when setting up our 1UP super duty rack for two bikes - love the ramp! Our bikes weigh 74 lbs each (they are monster fat-tire e-bikes) and with the ramp system, I can load and unload them by myself - and I'm a 67-year-old mom.

    I was e-biking with 6 friends today. They were in 3 vehicles and had 2 bikes per vehicle. I loaded my 75 pound bike on the 1up rack in just a couple of minutes. They had racks with several parts, tie downs, etc. It took them at least 15 minutes to load their bikes. This was the first time they had seen the 1up, and were really impressed. I don’t have a ramp and that’s my next purchase.

    Great review as I was in the same situation as your Mom not being able to lift my new heavy eBike onto the rack I already have so I just ordered this rack in black and the ramp. I also ordered the foam Fender Cushion accessory to protect my back fender and 2 wheel locks! Your detailed review helped me make my final choice on what rack to buy so thank you! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🚴‍♀️

    I just used my new super duty 2" hitch rack. IT REALLY NEEDS A BETTER WAY TO UNLOCK AND SWIVEL. 1up wants you to spend $90 more, on top of the $665-$715, for their extremely poor implementation of a latch and positioning thereof, that allows swinging rack up and down!

    You can still use this rack if you have fenders. It will just affect the back fender. You just have to adjust the spool a little lower, so it clears the fender when you swing the arm up to the tire. I have a Juiced E-bike with fenders and I just ordered a Quickrstuff Mach 2 bike rack.

    • @stevec.5273
      @stevec.5273 2 года назад

      No need to guess. I've moved my "stopper" down to the 4th hole from the top to accommodate the rear fender on my ebike. Works great by loosely clamping the rear wheel first with proper positioning under the bottom 1/2" of fender, then loosely clamp the front wheel. When both clamps are in proper position, I tighten each in turn by holding the frame and gently pushing the guide(s) onto the tire to slightly depress the tire, ensuring a tight fit. I use a ramp, my tired back doesn't complain at all! Great rack!

    We purchased this Vivi 27.5” electric bike and a Tentaquil 26” electric bike for our 13 and 14 year olds. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ The Vivi was much easier to put together. With the Vivi, there was a video link to assist with assembly which made the process easier to follow (we did put the handlebars on upside down, but it was a quick and easy fix). With the Tentaquil, the assembly was not as simple to follow, but after we messaged the company for an assembly video, it was easier and they did respond quickly. The other major differences were that the Vivi has a grip throttle on the right handle (like a motorcycle) and the Tentaquil has a push throttle that you use your thumb to activate. The monitors were also different, so if you’re looking for something specific in terms of changing the bikes functions, pay attention to what the monitor offers. We were really impressed with the overall quality and functionality of both bikes, but if you’re looking for more power and an easier assembly, definitely go with the Vivi!

    It looks nice, but not $400 nice.
    Me and 2000 other low income qualified Colorado residents are buying an ebike in the next 60 days with a rebate from the state. My rebate is for a cargo bike, so I'm probably going to get an Aventon Abound. It's 80 pounds or so.
    I expect to pay $400 for the bike (not counting accessories of any kind) after the rebate.
    My plan is to use a dirt bike ramp to load it right into the back of the Prius v. Hopefully with the back seats folded down, the bike diagonal, the front tire turned sideways (maybe taken off), the steering tube folded down, and maybe the seat post removed, it'll fit.

    What a wonderful son you are and great RUclips. I have watched many RUclipss on this rack but this one hit close to home.... I am the same size as your mom. Presently I am a road bike rider now but wanting this to be my last bike rack I buy and thinking at some point in my life the Ebike is in my future. With all that said.....I am curious the ease of the release handle and what it would be like with 2 bikes on the rack? The EZ pull on the Equip D is very appealing to me as is the ratchet system BUT the weight limit is a deterrent. A case of wanting my cake and eating it too. Any insights you might have would be appreciated.

    Wouldn't a fender in the back work out if you put the spacer lower, causing the back rack to rotate more to the right and downward?

    • @bjnslc
      @bjnslc 2 года назад +1

      I'd guess it depends on how far down the tire the fender covers. You'd need the spacer to engage above the 3:00 (or 9:00) position on the tire to have any resistance to upward movement. I may email 1 Up and see if the rear fender on this bike is short enough to work. A lot of touring bike fenders come down lower.

  • @brucesummers7448

    The 1UP ramp is poorly designed. It will stay in place only if on perfectly flat ground and it is too short for use with a heavy e-bike. Even with the walk assist mode of my fat tire e-bike the ramp was too steep due its short length. It is also too narrow for tires 3.0 inches or wider. I returned the 1UP ramp and bought a motorcycle ramp from an Amazon seller and used conduit clamps to hook the end to the 1UP rack which has been modified using the 1UP kit for wide tires. There are also folding motorcycle ramps if you do not have room for a long ramp inside your car.
    The 1Up ramp attaches to the back of the 1up rack but if this is done then there is no way to attach the 1UP license plate holder to the rack. I added a piece of aluminum to the rack and a stainless steel piano hinge so the license plate is visible both when the rack is raised up and also when it is in the down position to transport bicycles.
    As a side note, Hollywood sells a Rack Valet that is the best way to keep the rack for storage when not on the car.
