Pooh my mother has it and it’s something that can be present in your body but inactive. Triggers like lots of stress or going on gluten-free diets without needing to can cause it to become active. She didn’t have hers become active until she was in her 30’s. All of her kids, myself included also have the disease but it is dormant.
A lot of times doctors just don't believe you when you try to explain what you're going through. Especially with female patients. Or maybe they just aren't good enough/care enough. Many times I've just been told I was being "dramatic" or it was "just anxiety". I almost died multiple times because of doctors like this.

@@silnovak kneading regular pie dough makes it tough because the gluten is activated. I don't think handling gluten-free dough a lot would cause the same problem.
@@fullerv1 You are right about that, but he was supposed to use cold water and cold coconut oil so it doesnt melt into the dry ingredients, but he used room temp stuff and then totally melted it further by kneading so much with warm hands, that's why the dough wasnt nice and flaky 😕

Sandra Curiel nah man the dough didn’t work because his method was wrong. Should have used cold coconut oil and cold water, and slowly pulse in the cold water in the food processor until the dough just comes together. Then you flatten it out a bit, put it in some plastic wrap and refrigerate for a few hours.
Yeah, sparingly pulse into almost ball is the most wonderful trick. And whenever it's still slightly crumbly for whatever reason, I like folding crumbly stacks and rolling out a couple times over kneading. Helps preserve whatever fat flakes there are.

The key is to add ice cold water when making a dough with coconut oil so it helps solidify the coconut oil again and hold the dough together
And maybe a bit more liquid in the mix (more coconut oil or ice water) to stop it being quite so dry
Marifer Leb he also need to chill it before trying to roll it out/ put it in the pan.
The amount of water to add changes depending on the weather, so I usually ignore the recipe and add until it's just right

@@SandraCuriel-mr1qn Yes, it matters. You want to use the flat side of the knife so that it perfectly levels off the flour/sugar, etc. If you use the curved side it's going to create a divot in the surface of the flour.

Then one of the authors came out and said how it affected them as they were in the process of getting their story published but with J&J reading the entire short story for free, it negatively impacted the actual author. They basically weren't aware of when things were fair use or not, and apologized. They took the vid down and took down I think some older ones where they read stories as well but no author came forward really. Basically the summary of it but you can get a better grasp of it on their podcast channel. I'm assuming they still have the apology video still up. So now i think they're more aware of what they use and put in their videos. If Julien had said the whole recipe for free to us, then it's hurting that chef's book profit. Like the reddit stories.

When he pulled out the strawberry pies I teared up a little. My grandma recently passed and she was an avid baker, whenever she would try something I made for her she would say “ooh baby” JUST like that 🥺
Something to remember about pie doughs or breads: The water and starch amounts vary WIDELY by the humidity of where you live and the time of year. Something that works where the recipe was developed may not work where you live. I find that I always have to be ready to adjust doughs for moisture.
