Man, I loved this series. Played the 1st VN when I was young, then just went with the animes (had less game time as I grew old). Spoilers: It was astonishing to discover that the setting is actually set far far into the future of our modern era. Basically, the earth became inhabitable, so scientists went underground for many years. They artificially created humans with animal DNA in hopes to acquire bodies that can survive the surface (hence the animal features). They created a lot. The MC has more backstory, but to make it short he was discovered later by the scientists and studied upon. Some sh*t happened, he made the underground labs go boom. And all the animal people were set free into the world. Hundred years later, Earth's surface became normal again, but all humans have perished, only the animal people remain. They were not taught technology, hence why they have feudal era practices.

I find world building with varying levels of technology fascinating. Imagine a mech attack on a feudal village. It would be mind boggling to the villagers. One of the most memorable examples of this for me was in an indie animation where a bounty hunter was traveling through an uninhabited location on a map called “Gods’ Descent”. She had a D&D-ish level of technology: sword, leather armor, perhaps a magic trinket or such. When she arrived at Gods’ Descent, the place was revealed to be an ancient extraterrestrial crash site littered with the ruins of several crashed and long abandoned starships. The level of technology of the ships was so beyond that of the local people that they couldn’t even bridge the gap and adapt it into their society. Instead they just looted what they could and left the the ships there as ruins.

The game is better.
Animation is quite decent but oh boi did the english voice acting was hella lacking. It was so bad, bot as bad as old hentai dubbing.
@@ChaolaoFueChi you don't know bad until you've seen Tears to Tiara bad...the japanese version made him sound like the badass he is and Rhiannon like the gentle but competant priestess she is. the dub however made Arawn sound like some highschool simp bitch and Rhiannon like some whiny school girl who you just wanna smack in the face and tell her to shut the fuck, and her brother is just some dude who won't shut the fuck and screaming Rhiannons name all the time to the point you want to shoot both him and yourself just to make it stop. as i said in my other comment, i played a game called Aquapazza and it put a lot of famous characters from many different but well known series in japan together ( ToHeart 1 and 2, Tears to Tiara, Utawarerumano, Kizuato etc.) and they all sounded awesome but the english dub absolutely destroyed them...and i normally don't mind dubs.
But the show is good, wtf
In the original game, the dude have had sex with most of the major ladies in the story and Kuon in the sequel series IS his daughter
What's the name of this anime?
that anime description lol, my god people have ears
I still recall season ones ending song.
Not a twist I anticipated I watched this a long time ago and just thought it was a rural Japan anime.
I want watch this so badly
Where can i watch it tho??
utawarerumono is great and beautiful
for those who did not watch this they have to, this is amazing anime but ending is sad
What is it called
@@tate2558 read the video description :)
Holy shite Batman that was complicated. 😂😂
Those beast forms are rather ripped and beefy. Sad that the main hero had to sacrifice himself to bring peace.
some of the fits in this were very nice
I made it about midway through and realized I don't understand anything about this... I guess this is why I avoid politics like the plague.
Brings back memories
i loved this anime, i started playing the VN after watching it though i didn't know it was +18 game at that time......
so mask of truth IS a sequel series. I was wondering because i was so lost when i tried watching it.
Just gonna say, title is not 100% accurate. He wakes up in a strange world YES; but he ends up ruling 1 country in it. btw there is a continuation for this storyline if anyone reading this is interested.
what about "Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen"?? is it a rebooted series or what?
MAL says its a sequel but the character looks almost the same
i just like how everything end with aru or eru
I remember watching this I never understood the other one similar to this anime
