Definitely. Most Wes fans I know usually choose Smokin at the Half-Note (which is indeed incredible, especially the later released takes of "Impressions" and "Misty" not originally included -- possibly his greatest playing ever) or Boss Guitar. But, to me, there's something undeniable about the interplay between the Wynton Kelly Trio, Wes, and Johnny Griffin. The latter of which plays his ass off as if it was his own leading date. Lol. The crowd is also so happening on this album. :) @@scottspinner1
I'm listening to Interstellar Space right now on RUclips music. Drums and sax....that's pretty sparse, but you're right - it's listenable, it's not too far out there. lol I'm sure that's a misprint on the Rollins Plays For Bird record. Seems incredible that an error like that could make it thru production. But I listened to a little of that one online too, and Dorham is definitely playing trumpet. lol The look on your face when you read "Kenny Durham - saxophone??!!" lol I love that Clifford Brown record....well, I pretty much love anything by Clifford. Thanks for showing the records George!
Hi randy we all think the later Coltrane is difficult but not so. I’m sure there will be tho. Yippee definitely a misprint but it through me. lol. Great lp Yes a great Clifford brown lp well worth the money.
Kenny Durham did also play sax. Many musicians doubled, even tripled, on more than one instrument. Richard Williams also played trumpet and sax, although I've only heard him play trumpet.
Hi yes the early Coltrane are sweet. So if you’re not fussy for Coltrane will take that blue trane off you. Will be decent profit in it if I give you £2. Lol
George, you cracked me up as you frustratingly tossed aside the inner sleeve to Coltrane's Interstellar Space. I fell out in laughter, as I too have experienced it many times myself. By the way, you've added a number of great additions to your collection! I too picked up the The Complete Full House, along with the two Prestige reissues (Coltrane and Rollins). Really enjoyed this segment, as always.
Hi Tony. Thanks for that. Does my head in when they won’t slip in. That’s why I pre take of the outer sleeves. Save time. The prestige issues are all quality. Full house really good lp but probably for me didn’t need the triple.
I recognize the name Courtney Pine, but I can't say I know why. Did he do something mainstream that I would know? You got some great jazz records there George. It's been a while since I played jazz to any extent. I used to dedicate all Sunday afternoon to it, which is a nice way to end the week.
Hi John maybe it was a great way to start the week. lol. Yippee Courtney pine was in the uk scene back in the 80s can’t recall any pop records he was on. He always done jazz.
The Clifford Brown sounds great George. That is one I will have to look into. I have a lot of Sonny Rollins and the one you showed is kind of a sweet spot for me Great looking stuff
Damn record sleeve! Ha! I have not got any of those new Prestige releases but they look very nice. Ditto for that Wes Montgomery LP. Great picks as always!
Cheers Bradley. Too many sleeves lol. Wes Montgomery is a real good lp don’t think I needed the triple tho. The analogue productions prestige series are really good right up your alley street. Buy now or cry later. Haha.
Nice one George on the OG courtney, not see that Coltrane. I try and put the new inner inside the original inner if worth keeping. Love that Clifford Brown, need to order. So sad how and when he died. Rollins needs a listen. Great haul from Chad, is it cheaper to buy direct?
Hi mark must remember that about the inners. Clifford brown cool lp. The sonny Rollins is real good. I’m in a jazz bums /discord group. A few guys in the uk. Buy in bulk together to reduce the postage etc. it’s a mini group within the jazzz bums. Can probably invite you in. They buy craft. Vmp etc.
@@scottspinner1 I recommend them highly, super friendly independents, really nice bunch of folks that own jt and they always manage to get me to want something. I think they've learned what to play when im in, as there was some Lou Donaldson on last time :)
I've just picked up a really nice copy from Oxfam, original pressing on Steam. Do you want me to send it along? Really seminal British jazz LP, but I've already got one!
my parents were at that wes montgomery show.
Wow that’s amazing. True jazz fans.
Man, so lucky. I used to live in South Berkeley quite close to where Cafe Tsubo used to be (later called the Jabberwocky).
"Wes' best album" I AGREE! :)
Hi yes. Probably. He has another couple that are up there

@@Perhapsy yes a very unique lp in lots of ways. Similar in some ways to art pepper lp.

@@Nikosi9 thanks for that
Nice set George. The Analogue Productions looked lovely. Still struggling with John Coltrane, so might give that one a listen...

sonny rollins album, very cool, i only have one record by him!!
Hi Dave. Can’t go wrong with with sonny Rollins. One of the best.
Have you checked out umbrella vinyl in Edinburgh? They specialise in jazz/blues/soul etc
Might appeal to you! Im forever picking up stuff
Hi where are they based.
@@scottspinner1 just off Tollcross on Valleyfield street. They have a website which shows some of the rarer stuff they've got in.

@1061shrink1061 sign of a good record shop that plays the tunes when you go in. In town tomorrow. Maybe try go past. Cheers.
Now then George. Have you got a copy of Under Milk Wood by Stan Tracey?
I don’t james. Am I missing something a trick here.

Nae bother! Same address as before?
@jamesgriffithsmusic yip thanks so much James. I need to hear more uk jazz.
I bought Full House on CD, it's just getting too dear for me.
Yip I didn’t need it. I had a good enough copy for occasional playing. Lesson learned
