  • In this FreeCAD tutorial for the A2 Plus WB we put together a basic dynamic assembly with two bull joints, wheel and connecting link and cover 3 more constraints; sphere on sphere, circle on circle and axis constraint. This is the second part A2 Plus workbench constraints video and how to apply them to constrain and allow the assembly to simulate movement.
This course is aimed to teach the fundamentals of free CAD understanding the basics but delivering via teaching you different workflows.
We aim to teach you freeCAD in a practical way.

Sir, are you a teacher!? You explain the whole thing so good! Thank you for your time and effort to put it all together! I've been watching the full playlist during the last couple of days!! I started from begining and has been vey good to follow you along! Thanks

Thank you for your kind comments and so glad your enjoying these videos. When I was working as a 3D designer I was also studying to become a teacher but the training company that I did my exams and course work with went bust and took a year of my work and money with them. After that I took a different career path. So this channel is kind of a way for me to go back to my routes and to do what I love 😁

@@MangoJellySolutions wow... you really got the skills! I have two projects going on, although I started a few days in freecad as I serious training, I know how to move around in Blender though! First project try to design a rc plane -DC3. The other one is to learn Arch WB and Draft WB. I'll keep following your channel!

Great tutorial, I didn't know how powerful the inner movement and solver of A2plus was

It's a great workbench, so simple. It does get bogged down a bit when you do a large assembly.

Thanks a heap for all your vids and sharing your knowledge. I'm slowly learning for 3d printing projects, but i can't get anything to move in a2+ no matter what i try, unless following examples. Can't figure it. [edit] I think i finally got it. :D

Glad all these videos are helping. Glad you figured out how to move things in A2 plus workbench. There are some more Learning FreeCAD for Beginners videos coming up that use A2 plus so watch out for those :)

@@MangoJellySolutions I think a fundamental beginner understanding would be, there needs to be at least 3 parts to make a motion in A2 plus. :p -if trying to move in more than 1 plane

Hi, Why can't we union both the cylinder and the sphere and then add it into the cavity in the box cavity? Will that not work? Please guide

I tried fusing the ball and cylinder and it works. Good idea. Add another object to the end of the cylinder to move it under constraints.

Hello Good job. But how do you move the shaft with the mouse at 6m51, mine don't move.

Thank you. It will be worth checking that the shaft hasn't got a fixed position of true in the data tab.

Having used Fusion 360 and coming to FreeCAD in hopes of having access to analysis tools (which I are not available in the hobby version of F360) I'm a bit concerned. The more I learn about FreeCAD, the more fragile it seems. As I learn more, will I find ways to tame it? Are the other assembly workbenches more robust, with collision restraints? I understand it's a completely different beast, but would OpenSCAD be a better option?

Dear Leroy, I've come to this Tutorial long after the rest of you. I tend to agree perhaps this Tutorial was not the best example. It would appear to Me that A2 is a way to test assembly interaction prior to manufacture by whatever process. I can however see uses in my hobby for testing components prior to printing. I suppose One has to remember FreeCAD is Open Source. Generally I've found this series quite illuminating as regards Freecad. Again it seems One has to get experienced with the interaction and use of various work benches to get maximum use out of it. I still think FreeCAd presents good value opposed to more expensive options.

How do we reposition the transform axis of a part? (i.e., to the origin of the part). Do we need to go back to part module and reposition the part to its original position then convert back to an A2 part?
