Without doubt her best solo song. Her voice is haunting, and her eyes are mysterious. She's ethereal and other worldly and a humanitarian. Love Annie Lennox - a true artist!
@@jayjaybee I prob wasn't even aware of Hugh "House" Laurie when this 1st came out~(Here in the states) Malkovich & Lennox are too compelling to look at anyone else~😊
This song is for anyone in a relationship whether it's friendship or Romantic or married...."I don't think you know what I fear." Very very Deep!!! Love me some Annie!!!
In Annie's autobiography she said that Aretha didn't like her and refused to even speak to her. She thought she was a lesbian. When I watch that video now I see how Annie looks at and sings toward Aretha but Aretha never looks at her. I think that whole interaction has colored my opinion of that song, or maybe my opinion of Aretha because I love Annie first and foremost!
Annie Lennox ... one of the best female vocalists of all time. LIsten to her and watch her, I'd bet she'd also be an amazing actress. Brilliant performer.
This video is criminally underrated. As she puts her Womanly armor on… the lyrics get more raw/vulnerable/true. She’s gearing up to be taken down by the catastrophe that is the love she’s in. Genius. Epic. Annie is timeless.
Annie and Aretha my two favorite female vocalists and the Queen of Soul herself gave Annie the highest compliment after they had done a couple duets together, not a small thing coming from the Queen herself. Rest in peace Aretha.
All time favorite concert memory. The Eurythmics at Red Rocks. It starts to rain, and Ms. Lennox walks to the edge of the stage and starts singing "Here Comes the Rain Again!" The band was like "WTF??" but they got on board quick. Beautiful moment.
To me, that’s one of the most emotional songs out there. Losing the love you had for your significant other is a heavy burden too many people experience. It’s just sad. This song makes me cry every time I listen to it
I love Annie Lennox she has a beautiful voice but hearing this song right now has definitely struck a nerve with how I'm struggling with everything that's going on in my life at this moment & it's making me cry right now
I was, and still am, a fan of Annie Lennox and The Eurythmics from the start. I had tickets to an outdoor festival in 1986 to see them, but I never did. That was the night I realized Some thing was very wrong in my marriage. He decided not to go to the show and go golfing then dinner with his friends instead. He then told me ''you're not going there alone'', put both tickets in his pocket... and left the house. I cried like a baby all night because I would't be seeing them...then I cried even more realizing what my husband had done... to me? This song hits me hard and deep... but I used it it was my first step to get out of what became an abusive situation. I finally got to see Annie perform in 2003, when she turned 50 on her new world tour ! I was gifted a ticket, a tee-shirt of my choice and refreshments. The concert was... WOW ! Since it was a premier concert, the press were outside... and I was interviewed for the late evening news ! If I ever find that clip... I'll send it over. ;)
The other day you said you feel better when you make videos. Just wanted to let you know that you make a lot of us feel better with your positive energy and love. We appreciate it! Sending the love and positive energy back to you. ❤️ PS. Annie is a humanitarian and great person.
The song is expressing the difficulties in relationships which call complicated, especially when two people are still in love but have over the years matured different from each other than when they first met which makes them grow apart and each is going their own ways....LOVE Annie Lennox!!!! Absolutely A Legend!!!
Iconic, legendary, timeless. And she is every bit as beautiful on the inside as on the outside, and as her craft. Her charity work and advocacy makes her an idol truly worthy of adulation.
This is one of my favorite songs. Annie Lennox voice is touched by God. When you can't tell the difference between her live and studio version...you know you got the goods.
Saw her perform this at Live 8 London... not one dry eye in Hyde Park! She sounds even better in person... the emotional performance she delivers is unmatched.
One of the truest musical artists EVER. She’s a classically trained flutist and pianist with one of the most unique and identifiable voices in music. She’s just a genius.
Annie, man what a voice, and what a performer either with Ian as the Eurythmics or as a solo artist, I have NEVER been disappointed by anything I've heard
Annie Lennox is basically about 2 things in her music, soul and depth. Her music ages like wine and gets better and better with repeated listening over the course and years and decades. As a man in my forties I understand and appreciate her music far more than I did when I was younger. To come into her music is to come into your own maturity.
The lyric "But I can still read what you're thinking" gets me every single damn time. The simple truth in knowing the life partners we have truly let in is that we can cold read each other almost instantly. Even after the relationship ended. It both comforts and unsettles.
I LOVED Annie solo and the Eurythmics! GREAT artists! Annie had a powerful voice and presence. I thought she was wonderful in her solo career. One of the other cool things about her besides her amazing voice and creativity was that she was the first androgenous female artist to go mainstream and she did this decades ago. She was a trailblazer.
This relationship is finished and I am grieving, the ultimate hopeless loss song. And she does it from the bleeding heart, and it's real and not some one sided breakup, just an acknowledgement of hopeless lost love. And it's so bloody sad.
this is the first time to you listening to the Majestic Voice of Annie Lennox...she has a long Carreer, Huge Talent, beautiful Woman with great Sensitivity for melodies and this song.....this song is as fragile as strong in its statements...being able to sing it and get the point Clear ,like she did,it is what Real Stars can do...i suggest you dear,to go and check her catalogue with Eurythmics and alone....you ll find an incredible and Iconic Singer/Performer,who empowered Women back in the 80s and destroyed the cliche of the Woman Look back then
Goddess. Pristine tone, control, breadth of register. Faultless lyrics and depth of feeling. Ladies and gentlemen if you feel down Annie Lennox can bring your lasting comfort.
Annie’s voice is part of my DNA at this point. It has been since I was 12. She also took full advantage of the music video medium and used image in a beautiful and artistic way ❤️
One of the most powerful vocalists to have come out of the UK. I respected her as an artist even more when a "rave" outfit called Utah Saints used a Eurythmics sample in their track "What Can You Do For Me?" The track charted in the UK and Dave Stewart tried to sue them. Lennox disagreed with him stating she thought it was great and creative. The case, I believe, was subsequently dropped - then the Utah Saints went on to do legitimate remix work for Lennox. Legend!

You are clearly a very dear person. You really are putting the effort into trying to understand another person's experience and point of view. We need more of this in the world today.
Annie is a true Diva. She's fierce and fearless of the dark or the light. I'd love if you reacted to her rendition of Nina Simone's "I Put a Spell on You" that she performed at the 2015 (or 16?) Grammys. She sings with the Irish fella, Hozier. Annie is from Scotland. She's just fabulous and has never been untrue to herself. That's what respect is really about. Great reaction! Thanks, India.
Anniie Lennox is a musical icon. She hasn't made new music in a very long time, but her body of work is incredible. And this video also proves that she could act better than half of the actresses in Hollywood. Just insanely gifted.
Annie Lennox is one of the best women to ever come out of the British music scene and this whole video is breathtaking yet so simple
Yes and Kate Bush
Sade Adu also
For sure Annie is alongside Shirley Bassey, Amy Winehouse, Adele & Leona Lewis
Musnt forget Enya.....peace touch.

i saw her live in tennessee, her voice was just incredible. even better in person!
Wonderful artist and human being.

"Dying is easy, it's living that scares me to death, oooh yeah..." (Cold)

The whole Diva album is genius but "Walking on Broken Glass" with John Malkovich in the video is pretty great!
Allison Young And Hugh Laurie!

Too right! One of the best albums by a female artist for sure, some real deep and gritty lyrics.

Can't even begin to count how many times I've listened to this song. There's no one like Annie Lennox.
Annie dueted with Aretha Franklin on "Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves". The measure of a great vocalist is the company they keep on a duet
Yes! Love that song!
And with David Bowie ruclips.net/video/fCP2-Bfhy04/видео.html
I was just thinking of that song. I recently saw someone react to this song.
Linzi Rainbow pretty sure Sincerely KSO did a reaction to it-

Song suggestion - "All cried out" by Alison Moyet.
How many times do I have to try to tell you
That I'm sorry for the things I've done
But when I start to try to tell you
That's when you have to tell me
Hey, this kind of trouble's only just begun
I tell myself too many times
Why don't you ever learn to keep your big mouth shut
That's why it hurts so bad to hear the words
That keep on falling from your mouth
Falling from your mouth
Falling from your mouth
Tell me
Why
Why
I may be mad
I may be blind
I may be viciously unkind
But I can still read what you're thinking
And I've heard it said too many times
That you'd be better off
Besides
Why can't you see this boat is sinking
Let's go down to the water's edge
And we can cast away those doubts
Some things are better left unsaid
But they still turn me inside out
Turning inside out turning inside out
Tell me
Why
Tell me
Why
This is the book I never read
These are the words I never said
This is the path I'll never tread
These are the dreams I'll dream instead
This is the joy that's seldom spread
These are the tears
The tears we shed
This is the fear
This is the dread
These are the contents of my head
And these are the years that we have spent
And this is what they represent
And this is how I feel
Do you know how I feel?
'Cause I don't think you know how I feel
I don't think you know what I feel
I don't think you know what I feel
You don't know what I feel
So glad you're reacting to her; she's incredible. Don't let her go by without listening to "Would I Lie to You?"
