    This just give me goosebumps. They went to far far away in the war and we know hows it ended. RIP

    The Stalingrad transmission was a fake. Radio transmissions had been cut off a week earlier.
    It was chilling to think what was happening to the men at that time.

      Correct! To me, the whole broadcast is suspicious, especially when they sing in unison from thousands of miles away. HF radio does not work that way - there would have been time lags over those great distances.

      The singing was all pre-recorded several days prior to the broadcast, and spliced together in editing.

      adding to that : any confession or "revelation" while in allied custody i wont take it seriously .

    This was the very same song that peacefully united the Germans and English back in Christmas eve of 1914, I can't hear it without associating it to that last major humanistic moment in history of modern wars 😭💔

    Thank you so much for the english translation. The fact that the original video with the same purpose....christmas recording that had translation on the screen was removed simply because of historical politics is sad.

    Imagine being a German soldier, sitting in a dugout in Stalingrad in -40°, starving, knowing that the breakout was just a false hope and you are going to die in the next few days or weeks. Then you hear this radio broadcast, knowing its fake and pretending that the situation is actually okay in Stalingrad..

      @@marcuskuhnert6191explain? National socialism was always about smashing Bolshevism. After Churchill declined every peace offer he still went ahead to try and free Europe from the communists. Russia was planning on attacking Germany anyway so he thought he would beat them to the punch.

      Перед тем как попасть в блиндаж Сталинграда, это немецкий солдат прошёл немало городов и деревень, где, в первую очередь, искал евреев и коммунистов. Расстреливал их, насиловал, шёл дальше. А потом был Сталинград. Надеюсь, что этот солдат-нацист горит в аду.

    This explains how far the German military and the Nazis have reached by that point, making a greater German reich from the mountains of Norway to the deserts of north Africa and from the Atlantic coast to the Caucasus.

    Vă salut..!! Sunt din România. Bunicul meu luptă în Caucaz cu armata germană. Poate și el a cântat în acel moment de crăciun 1942. Era vânător de munte. De Crăciun germani și români au cântat împreună. România era aliatul Germaniei. Bunicul meu în timpul războiului a învățat limba germană de la germani , deși el era român. A luptat cu Germania împotriva Rusiei sovieticii. R.I.P pentru cei căzuți la datorie. "Crăciun fericit..!!,,

    The broadcast from Stalingrad "the Front on the Volga" was fake, it was from a studio in Berlin.

      @@dieterh.9342 I think they said that when it was shown on The World at War, however, at that time of the war things were going so badly in Stalingrad it seems unlikely they would be able to co-ordinate such a broadcast from there, and they faked everything anyway

    Песня замечательная, а вот последняя картинка совсем не "вне политики". Вне политики - это послевоенный лагерь для военнопленных. А это - попытка вспомнить как вы, ребята, воевали со всем светом. Радует, что многие немцы это понимают, и как сказал мне один дойч - "надеюсь, третью мировую начнем не мы".

    I’d like to see accounts in soldier’s’ diaries like ‘We had to sing along while they made a recording’. There aren’t any? Then it’s fake. After all, why go to the trouble of organising it when you can fake it?
