I really hope Julia Levchenko finds herself again. She was so amazing before covid. I wonder what happened to her. Apostolovski is a true queen, winning a medal despite injuring herself.

Such a heartfelt comment. Olyslagers would be truly overwhelmed by your support and admiration. And your ammended Aussie chant is too good. But her name is Nicola Olyslagers. In your excitement you keep calling her Christina.
It sure would. Olyslagers is now only 29 points behind Mahuchikh. Not sure how many points she received for winning the event though. Mahuchikh: 1476 points Olyslagers: 1447 points

Congratulations to Nicola, and a nice effort by Christina. It would have been interesting to see if Lia could have jumped two meters had she not been forced to retire.
High jumping is all psychological at this level. Remaining uplifted is critical. How can you expect an Ukrainian to be in that condition? I would give them a medal just for showing up.
The Fosbury Flop lives. Fosbury won the Olympic high jump Gold with the flop in 1968. The Fosbury Flop could only be used after the development of the soft foam landing pit.
The sand pit of yesteryear had its drawback: I developed a cyst in my right wrist, which suffered repetative strain in landing. The foam padding of today lets the athlete try new techniques, though it is hard to imagine a more efficient method than the Fosbury flop.
24:16 I HOPE SHE IS FINE AND RECOVERING WELL AND I WILL PRAY FOR HER SO THAT SHE COMES BACK WITH TEN TIMES THE INTENSITY IN HER FUTURE CHAMPIONSHIPS 😣😣😣🙂🙂🙂🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️🫡🫡❤️🤝🤝🤝🙏🙏🙏🥳🥳🥳😣🙂🥰🫡❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

congrats to the Australian on winning. Also, congrats to the silver medallist Ukrainian for bouncing back to win in paris olympics. Thats what true champions do- rebound stronger in the next event to ensure they are at the top of the podium. They dont give up and let second place finishes deter them from future performances. The Australian did the same with this event- after a string of seconds, thirds etc , bounced back to win. I do wonder what she writes in her notebook though???
I saw an exhibition high-jump with Mahuchikh in Ukraine. She could not clear 181 cm. Then her coach went to the table of the judges and the bar was put on 191 cm. She cleared that 191 with great ease. The bar had been set too low for her and that is as difficult as a bar that is too high, in her case over 216 cm. LOL

It's quite obvious that both Mahuchikh and Topic were in monthly trouble time when they couldn't match their top results.
Great commentary. A quick question: will this boost OLYSLAGERS world rank to be #1? Cause she was just a few pts away from the current #1, MAHUCHIKH.

We used to do the 'Straddle' in school in the 1960s. Before the flop was invented.
