10 Years Later: Infamous Dover Traction Freight Elevator B2 - The Westchester - White Plains, NY

10 and a half years after this elevator was originally seen taking a live shit on camera, I get to see it.
This is as most of you know, the freight elevator right outside of Nordstrom. This is by a long shot the worst elevator in the mall. This is the least maintained, and most neglected.
The elevator itself really is not bad at all, in fact it amazes me that it still runs while being maintained like this. Nothing has changed since 2013 aside from a repainted cab. Mechanically, it may have gotten worse? I’ve never seen it overshoot and have to re-level, and also do this thing at the dock where it stops for a period of time, and then opens. But all around a fun elevator.

still a very lovely dover all these years later
That thing definitely needs more light. I believe this one was the one Andrew was stuck in. I could be wrong. It was just repainted pretty much.
It looks like it hasn't changed much since DieselDucy filmed it (and got stuck in it).
I think this was the one he was stuck in.
That motor is so weird the way it keeps cutting out and starting back up. So strange..
That motor's the worst I've ever heard it.
This has to be modernized badly because of the noise
Yall were so paranoid 😭 I would've been too, that motor severely needs a replacement. It sounds like it's gonna completely die out on you guys in a matter of seconds. It reminds me of when a hydraulic motor "airplanes" 💀
We were lmao. I definitely would've tried to reverse it if Nolan woulda let me, but who knows what would've happened if we did. I don't think its the motor itself, possibly it's the electricity going to the motor? If a motor is turning off/on constantly it shouts electricity problems.
@@ElevatorsOfVA I've never heard a motor do this either, so it was definitely alarming to hear. Not surprising for mall maintenance 💀
Could you feel the elevator itself slowing down & speeding back up as you were riding it? I assume so because it's definitely heard by the motor
I've had something similar to this happen to me on a Schindler hydro, but it only stops BREIFLY once going up. It results in 2 large jolts
Last year when I was in this thing it was even worse - it was banging everything and I got even more scared
@@EvergreenElevatorsYeah you can feel it slow down while it cuts out. The elevator is running better than it was last year though, although you can hear the cutting out of the motor better now
It’s also way faster than all the other freights for some reason
Is this the same elevator that Dieselducy got stuck?
yes
What do you and Bert expect out of this thing? This is all beyond end of life equipment that has no replacement parts available (other than “refurbished” salvaged parts which are only going to last for so long). This elevator obviously has a pie plate and the techs probably do not know how to maintain it and/or it’s been rigged to run. But again, I’m not sure y’all understand the degree to which this equipment is not maintainable from a property management standpoint. Luckily, my employer is getting rid of our Dover composite/traflomatic 2 equipment imminently. I’m in charge of the mod.
i dont think a 1994 dover traction would have a pie plate
@@PFElevators the ones at my work are from 1992 and have a pie plate, so it’s not entirely impossible nor unlikely.
Of course, and that's the case for almost all if not all old elevators, but its just small things like at least cleaning it, or replacing the light that make this thing look like shit. Look at the Neiman Marcus freight, at least that one looks somewhat maintained.
This elevator is not in good shape. Was crap when I rode it years back as well.
@@DieselDucyI am still shocked that they have not replaced the light yet.
Wow, this elevator is a piece of crap in my opinion. I say that because of terrible maintenance.
thanks for telling me, I didn’t know the maintenance was so bad. Should’ve said that in the video AND the description
@@ElevatorsOfVA Well, that was just me going off of how the elevator is acting, plus Andrew did state in the video that they don't know how to take care of their elevator, so that just goes to show how bad this thing is
