      Yeah, definitely not normal. These 2018s/2019s mustang gt's definitely have a factory defective gen 3 coyote engine. I have one, and I'm pretty much stuck with it at this point. My 10r80 went out on me two times and I haven't put 4000 miles on my car yet. My engine ticks, and I'm looking to get the motor built by L&M before I supercharge it. I should've kept my 2016 GT. Hey Street. Interesting how you and Chad think differently. You guys took different paths. Truthfully if i knew then what i know now i would have used the power up from the first day. Power up is different than ceratec. power up is a preventative type product. ceratec treats damaged engines better.
      Warranty or not, power up treats the oil not the metal. it could be drained out easily. nevertheless i am not ticking and i am happy. I understand where you are coming from. I think you are a good guy and i like your video's especially when the family gets involved. If you do get a new engine i truly hope you don't end up like sinstr productions. his second engine went bad in 100 miles. There is a problem with these motors. but what is the option? A camaro? Not for me. Happy New year street! Hoping for good things going forward.

      @@coyotecarguy2076 yeah that seems to be the way of the replacement short/long block. I've yet to see anyone with a replacement motor not tick again. That's why I haven't gone through with a long block replacement. It's disappointing but I also feel like they've been using the old motors in stock and maybe now that guys are starting to get newer built motors for 19s we'll see some results.

    The tick directly correlates to an oil change. Only logical conclusion is the issue is oil flow or capacity related. 11 quartz of oil seems to solve it for me, which also happens to be how much oil you need to top off on the dipstick. The only reason I believe Ceretec works is because people are adding more oil over the standard 10 quarts, and it’s possibly improving oil flow.

    Thanks for posting. I completely agree with you. I took my car to three different dealers. All of them termed it as a normal characteristic of the engine.Changed oil at 1500 miles and no metal in filter or oil. Opened a ford corporate case and talkedTo the regional manager. Also uploaded the video to his email address. According to him he talked to ford engineering Who said that this is a normal but “undesirable” Characteristic of the engine.They also offered me a five-year comprehensive warranty which I ended up taking. Unfortunately I don’t think we have any choice. The car runs great. The Tick goes away in about 5 to 10 minutes.Overall I am not satisfied with the car but I have just started to get used to it and I’m enjoying the car now. A part of me actually wants the engine to blow up so that we may get answers or I can go the lemon law route.
    Anyways please keep the videos coming and i will update if anything happens to my car. Thanks

    • @streetridaz
      @streetridaz  5 лет назад

      Thanks for watching brother. Yeah mine only ticks now when it warms up. It started only at cold start but now doesn't tick when cold but after it's warm it ticks gloriously. LOL i'm not too worried about it. Like i said in the video it's a problem but i'm not going to fret over it anymore. I've got a warranty on the car for 5 years and i'll have it paid off in 2 or 3 years. If it's becoming a problem i'll sell it and if not then so be it. I love the car and wouldn't be happy with anything else. I'm going to send it and i've always got the option to take the extended warranty if i want it.

  • @Condor1970

    If Ford does not have a way to fix the tick, then using a proven oil additive by a reputable oil company (LiquiMoly) is not going to void your warranty. The reason they have a statement not to use oil additives, is because an awful lot of them are nothing more than snake oil. Even Slick 50 has had lawsuits against them for causing excessive sludge build up in the oil pan causing the pick up tube to get clogged. So, Ford has a blanket statement saying it "may" void your warranty, because even Ford knows many of the high end additives are actually quite beneficial. Heck, Ford used to add XL-17 years ago to quiet down this very problem.
    I even told my local Roush dealer I added 1 bottle of Ceratec, since neither myself, nor they really wanted to tear my engine apart to attempt a fix. The lead mechanic just smiled and said "Yep".

    • @Condor1970
      @Condor1970 5 лет назад +1

      @Anthony Hales Just to clarify. My tech didn't tell me to use it. He just acknowledged the fact that a lot of people do, and it works. If you ever need to take it in for any kind of work, and worried about it, just change the oil and filter before going in. I doubt anyone will care, and even Ford used additives in the past. They know the stuff works, but I don't need to give them a reason to get all snooty about it if you end up needing a new engine for some reason. If you had the thing boosted and blew a rod, that's one thing, but for Ford to deny a claim after you tried to have them fix it, then they denied you twice, once for a supposed normal noise, then again said no because you added an additive, is just downright rotten, imo. But never hold some corporate bean counter to task, or they might just try to screw you over, just for spite. The people at Ford wouldn't... but some useless but greedy jerk at the top with an exorbitant salary just might.

    there are some legit issues, like I know you have had. like I said in my video, if you have issues, yes- report on them, but non mustang owners or ones with no experience need to stop staring the pot. Ford NEEDS to be held accountable but it needs to come from those people WITH legit issues. some f*cking how, a number of people only watched like half of my video and did not get the full message and where all pissed off thinking I told ppl to hide the issues. that could not be further from the truth. everything you have said in this video is great and I support.

At that point you either get praise or hate. I agree with what you said in your video but being that i was one of the original people who really delve deep into documenting the issue on youtube, i felt that i needed to at least comment on it and give my final thoughts before i drop it from my channel. The Jeep inline 6 cylinder engine was strong, reliable, and bullet proof. It had been in production forever and was well proven. Then Chrysler bought Jeep and all of a sudden the engine was ticking. Dealers were replacing engines right and left and nothing seemed to help and No One seemed to understand what had happened. Eventually it was found when the bean counters looked at the 6 cylinder casting they found they could save a couple cents by thinning out the casting around the crank.
    They caused their own tick and it was not harmful to the engine but sounded bad. Unlike Ford, Jeep stepped up and started putting in windage trays that were just strong enough to stop the tick. This is unlikely to be the problem with the Ford engine but they still need to figure it out ( actually I am sure they know what it is by now) and take care of it.

      Because of all the new controversy around it in the mustang community I felt it only right that I give my two cents after I helped start much of it while documenting my issues.

    Nothing wrong with talking about the tic everyone is trying to down play it now it's a definite problem that needs to be talked about

    Using ceratec will void your warranty??? Since when? Lol

    • @streetridaz
      @streetridaz  5 лет назад

      It can yes. Says right in the manual using oil additives will void warranty.

      My Ford service adviser also told me that Ford is aware of people using these additives and will be looking for a reason to deny an engine replacement.

      Street707 - Mustang Vlogger, FPV Pilot & PC Gamer Hmm well I did use ceratec two oil changes ago before I switched to amsoil. I doubt they would be able to trace it if something happens. Luckily I don’t have the loud tick. It does have the tick when cold but nothing compared to what I’ve seen in some videos.

    So my 2018 Mustang had the 2200 RPM rattle and typewriter tick that sounded like rod knock. Finally I had Ford open up the motor and they found camshaft and rod bearing damage. Metal all through out the engine. New long block ordered and installed. I requested a buyback and was accepted. For you guys who just add Ceratec you're basically just covering up a legitimate problems with these motors. I only had 5652 miles before I got a new engine. Stop making excuses for Ford. Start a case with Ford at Ford customer service and tell them you want your engine opened up. They will do it then.

    Thanks for the advice. Waiting delivery on EcoBoost Convertible. Praying the tic issue is hype and not a problem.

    Just watched this video
    Had to go and watch the Michael Mac video he refers too...
    I think we have all been there (more or less) if you have changed your own oil for any length of time.
    Anyways, the reason I am writing here is I invite you to go to the Michael Mac site and find that video, its older but my reason for asking you to do this is I have a somewhat lengthy write up about oil there, wish I had copied it to place here, but NO
    It is an education on oil so that YOU can make the right choices to protect your engines.. Thanks

    The fact that CJ Pony Parts is making a video about not worrying has me worried. They make money off of Mustang owners(which is all good). They know there's a problem. Ford knows there's a problem. If we as Mustang owners bring up the problem they both lose money. There is a problem. RUclipsrs with voided warranties wouldn't be so relaxed if they still had warranties.

      Nightwing, it is because it is NOT a big problem. When the "shift forks" on the MT82-D4 manual trsns on 2018's became an issue (48 to 58 complaints), Ford investigated and found a problem. A TSB was issued and 58 MT82's were replaced. That's still very minor, equal to less than 1/10th of 1% of all MT82 V8 2018 Mustangs sold in the US. Yet there are only 10 to 14 official issues logged in Fords database about the "tick". Plus the infamous tick has beem a "known thibg" since the 2005 V8 Mustang's. So until Ford gets over the 40+ logged, inspected, verified issues, it is a very, very minor thing. If it was a big deal people would not keep on nodding their cars. Putting a non Ford tune on a vehicle is the quickest way to void warranty outside of adding a supercharger/Turbos (not installed by a Ford or Ford/ROUSH dlr. Headers would be next. All of those csn be reversed except the tune. One can remove the tune yes, but now can NOT lock back up the now open ECU, plus a tune leave various sensors and other parameters in a "breached condition" which the dlr can see and now all manufactures check for on all their vehicles that are not economy vehicles...

      Sure there are about 17-20 RUclips videos but 3 or 4 of those are not the infamous inconsistant, metal on metal typewriter tic.

      @@08turboSS I had a 2010 GT and a 2015 GT. Neither one had the tick. More people would speak up if they didn't void their warranty. Mine is completely stock. The dealership that will look at mine told me that they have had several customers with the tick issue. They told me that they have replaced one engine so far.

      And yes Nightwing, there are many, many youtubers with voided warranties, many that think they're ok that have no clue. Even a Roush supercharger put on at a Dlr does not have a full 5yr/60k power train anymore. In some cases its 3yr/36k and others it is 2yr/24k. And it is all this moding and being dumb enough to post it online that is making the manufacturers start heavily cracking down on people. And btw, the dlr does not have to advise a customer that their vehicle jas been flagged in the system and the Federal EPA also gets notified of all of a customers info.
