This is great, and the write up you made was so helpful. How close to the edge of the wood did you do the grooves for the wall? And then how deep did you make those grooves?

Do you know how much wood (board feet) you used for the shell?

Nice build, thanks for sharing! How did your router hold up? That’s one helluva a hot supper you put it through!! Also, what did you use for the circumference straps?? Thx again.

Hey James, router did just fine! I did end up getting a shaper to make things easier though. Used steel straps from Fechmetal on recent builds, steel cable from Home Depot for the first build.

What’s next? I’m really curious how you do your door.

Thanks for this. I got inspired from the video of your first sauna and am planning on building my own this coming week. I bought the router bits you mention here and on your webpage. But I noticed on other videos about bead and cove joinery that most people leave a lip on the edge of the bead. Have you tried that? I wonder if it makes for a tighter seal. Also, I’m a beginning woodworker too and haven’t made anything as accomplished as this, but might still suggest making a stop block for your miter saw. It would save you all the time of measuring each board and ensure perfectly consistent lengths. I learned about them from Steve Ramsey’s video on miter saws. Thanks again. I hope I can see the subsequent parts of this build before I get there with my own.

Hey Bryan, yes definitely leave a bit more of a lip than I did! I would go somewhere between this video and the first one. Agreed on the miter block, thank you! Best of luck on the build

Which other videos mention the lip? I am at beginning stages of doing my research
