  • The official Wind and Truth chapters 12 and 13 just released. In this video I go over my thoughts of both chapters, the things I noticed while reading through them, and theories I have for later in book 5. Hope you enjoy!

    • @nyaatama8529

That is the part that most stories seem to get wrong and I love Brandon's touch on it, hating someone and not forgiving does not make you hateful, it makes you human.
Some people do not deserve our forgiveness and Moash is the type that fits into that category.

I really like seeing that. I'm hoping there's no Moash redemtion arc. He's too far gone imo.

If you compare that illustration to the map at the start of Rhythm of War, the indicated oathgate is the one that leads to Thaylen City, which Shallan spent several minutes negotiating with the other end of back towards the end of Oathbringer. Possibly this indicates the spren from the paired platforms are the same somehow, or twinned and look identical.
Also notice that in that drawing all but a few of the oathgate spren are colored black and gray instead of black and white--the coalition-held gates are the only white ones, and Azimir seems to be turning grey, perhaps indicating all but a few of the gates have been enlightened.

Nice observations! I think you're right about the gray coloring indicating which Oathgate spren are touched by Sja-anat.

Szeth is the knight of Truth. He was exiled as a truthless when he was not. He is on a crusade for truth.

If I haaaaaad to put money on only ONE-PERSON being the writer of the W&T epigraphs, I think that Sigzil is the best bet. (Which is why I like the bridge 4 thing)
    (1)
I think that the writer of those W&T epigraphs talks Akin to how Sigzil does. The author says words like “however”, “regardless” & “perhaps”, that sigzil quite often uses at the beginnings of his sentences. The author also breaks up their sentences in correct-but-backward ways (think Yoda, except instead of breaking up a single clause sentence like yoda does, the W&T mystery writer has a sentence that is comprised of 2or more *full* clauses that are correctly worded clauses, but awkwardly switched.)
    (2)
Sigzil is one of the few men who can write. Which puts him in front of half of the cast.
    (3)
Doesn’t the writing itself sound very dry&informative, kind of like a military report? (Maybe from his current company lord?)
    [ Other Sigzil totally-not Reverse Confirmation Biases ] :
    (5)
sigzil survives these books’ events. (aren’t sigzil and hoid the only narratively-confirmed survivors of this book?)
    (6)
mystery writer knew about important information/events/plans as they were going on, yet didn’t seem to be TOO close to the action/characters
    (7)
whomever is writing these epilogues sounds super candid towards Stormblessed & the assassin in white, like he knows both Kaladin and Szeth. (Sigzil knows them both personally as yet Book 4) … the “candid” thing also circles back around to the epigraphs kinda sounding like a MILITARY REPORT.
    (8)
the mystery author mentioned the “philosopher”/“historian” in themself. Sigzil is, in fact, a historian - one who tells stories. I also think that he is a pretty philosophical thinker. (I personally think that ‘historian/philosopher’ probably fits him better than most, even jasnah)
Honestly, it could be anybody.it could be all the radiants. It could be Bridge Four passing W&T around like a birthday card as they all write in there… it could be Pedro Pascal -he’s in everything else, why not?
But i digress.. Nobody is a lock at this point. However SIGZIL is my best educated guess.

      @plaecholder Месяц назад

I could see pedro pascal playing a really good Teft I'm ngl.
Sigzil was my first thought, brandon convinced me otherwise, but now I'm back to thinking he's the guy. I was almost fully onboard the Syl's the author train, but that was cleanly falisifed in the first of this week's chapters.

    • @zenrythebard5587
      @zenrythebard5587 Месяц назад +3

Funny you should say this. because I think this week's chapters are practically a confirmation that it isn't Sigzil.
"I was not with them. I did not know of their quest." in the same chapter when Kal told Sig and the rest of Bridge Four that he was going to Shinovar on Dalinar's orders. The author can only be someone who found out after the fact. This also leaves Renarin out. Shallan would also be told of the quest when (or if, I guess, still in the middle of reading chp 13) she meets up with Kal.
Jasnah is the last outstanding candidate. There's a non-zero chance that Dalinar hadn't told Jasnah, but I doubt it honestly.
There's one name that I think it could be. It's really out there, but there's a possibility it's actually authored by El. I'll have to open my copy of RoW to truly check the voice, but I don't think you can discount him.

Literally released a video about the most likely suspects on who wrote Knights of Wind and Truth a few days ago only to have to put out a whole new video today covering the fact that, now, NONE of the obvious candidates qualify anymore. Lol. What a quick fucking turnaround. That is what I call Sanderson Whiplash, lol. Stuff like this is why it's so fun to read the weekly releases. Glad to see so much of the community digging into each new chapter as it comes out. It's so much fun!

the windspren looking more like in shadesmar makes perfect sense. I mean the spren commit to bonds because they get pulled in the physical realm. This should apply to armorspren aswell.

This has to be Wit writin the book, chapter 13 screams at me that this is the way Wit would start off a story.
First... Friggin Adolin seemed to be the one throwing up the death flag here, I may have yelled at him as I read that.
I did love how Shallan ot jealous of Adolin getting a longer hug though.
A couple books ago I would not have minded Adolin waving that flag, I would have expected it, still do. The issue is, he was the one left out of that promise.
The next part that gets me is the Champions of the Wind, I was just waking up when the chapters came out but this smacked me around a bit. For they were her Champions.
This is most likely stating (or at least how I take it) that this section of the book, this cleansing of Shinovar has nothing to do with Odium, this in turn will likely cause the Wind and the Heralds to disappear off the face of Roshar.

I always thought knights of wind and truth was simply referencing the current era of knights radiant. Wind referring to Kaladin and Truth referring to Shallan because they are the founders and have the most influence on important events. Also they have progressed farthest with oaths and have the most squires. I feel like you wouldn't refer to two people as the knights of wind and truth. It would be the knight of wind and the knight of truth. There needs to be several knights of wind and several knights of truth.

Kaladin saying goodbye wasn’t as emotional as I thought it’d be for me. I think all the depression and self loathing stuff has ruined the character for me
    Much more interested in Shallan.

That's really sad to hear. That is just kind of what having depression is like. I'm super happy Sanderson made it as redundant as it is even though it is annoying, sometimes bcuz it is EXCELLENT representation of the illness. Still. At least ur digging Shallan. She is the one I normally hear ppl complain about.

@@TheDiabeticGameMaster Shallan has always had some humor in her chapters to balance out the darkness and its felt very authentic / genuine to me. The Formless stuff in RoW was def approaching the max limit but I’m glad that got some resolution with Veil being integrated. Although I don’t like how she’s still being referred to / speaking in Wind and Truth. It’s like why can’t Sanderson just fully close the loop on certain things…..
Anyways I’m more excited to see what’s happening with characters like Venli / Renarin / Rlain / Szeth than I am with Kaladin at this point. I did like the touching moment between him and Shallan.
