😯😧😮 ... I don't know what Seal is ON ABOUT. Work for me then & still does. The magical characteristic is awesome. Don't fall for crooked standard, especially from scholars.
@@koyakream We the fans have demanded that he sing it at every concert since 1995...he can literally do it in his sleep..nothing beats that kind of practice.
Seal, respectfully, the fact that you blending two differing genres so well not only shows that it does work, but also shows you're a fucking legend in making it work. Also goes to show how music is very versatile. I mean if it wasn't, DJs would be out of the job.
It doesn't. If it did, this song would be nothing special but it is because it's unusual. This is a very unique hit that doesn't work. This is an anomaly. Let's not act like it isn't
If you’re good enough, you CAN make it work, even if it "shouldn’t." That's the grand part about being a true artist. He not only made it work.... he made it beautiful!
He broke down the mechanics of the song like a true artist. I replayed the part how he analyzed "Kiss from a Rose," and it's like a master class example in explaining your work as a creator. He expands on each element as part of a formula. Seal describing his own song as "blissful ignorance" shows just how serious he is as a performer. 👏
When I was little, I was obsessed with Batman Forever. My sister had the soundtrack on cassette. I would ask her to play "The Batman Song" and she had to rewind that cassette over and over. Kiss From a Rose brings me back to my childhood whenever I hear it, and it's my all-time favorite song because of it.
For me the reason why it was successful is because it felt like a story. The beginning is like 'once upon a time' ie the set up, then the rockish part feels like a strong emotion, his heart has been changed and he's screaming it out to the world. The last part he mentioned feels like triumph, "I've been kissed by a rose on the gray!" Repeating it over and over. It's a really beautiful song compensation. He's not giving himself enough credit!
He's giving himself a ton of credit. Where is the perception he's not taking credit coming from? Because he's accurately analyzing the fact that it shouldn't have worked on paper? It did work, and it was beautiful. He knows that, we all know that. His point is that it was arguably the greatest song ever made, and he's an amazing musician for it, due to the fact that he produced it without even following the established "rules". Ya'll saying "oh come on Seal, take more credit, you should be proud of yourself" are *totally* missing his point.
Gorgeous song , sung perfectly by Seal it’s fluid and stunning in so many parts , gorgeous song whatever the break down of the chords , it works and not just for the movie , it’s perfection in expressing love.
It wasn’t instant. It entered the charts at 60, dropped to 78 and disappeared. The producer of Batman forever used it as soundtrack and then it became a sensation
This song embodied what Batman was about, it reminds me of what would have been played if Batman found love one day. It honored Batman Forever beautifully. Especially with Kilmer and Kidman in that film. It synced perfectly imo.
This is an example of someone with a god given talent that doesn’t realise how good they truly are, he could probably come back now and still reach number 1

Well Seal, sir… when you think of earth the way it spins imperfectly and it gives us all of the four seasons in 365 days, i think you nailed all the four seasons eternally in this song… Naturally, it’s just a beautiful song.
This song is awesome because Seal followed his souls leading and not some predetermined formula. He let his soul resonate, and people connected strongly with it because of that. 🎉
I thought the same thing just a few days ago, listening to this song on repeat while driving home. It pulled several non-typical, almost incongruous elements together. I need to look up the composer. Then they rightly chose you, Seal, to sing the balad. Your earthy, musky, tone did a fantastic delivering this.
I completely agree! After learning piano for the past couple of years, musically, the melodies and styles within the song are all over the place and you can easily create variations of it. When creating music, sometimes the result is just "willed" out of nowhere.
"Kiss From A Rose" from his second album is his best song but "Seal I" from 1991 was his best album. Play the whole record from beginning to end, it just flows.
