HAHAHHA!! I’m pregnant and breastfeeding and therefore don’t drink, but my husband does. We just went on a 7 day cruise in November, called ahead and they said sorry we can’t help you from our end but, yea just tell them on board hopefully they can help you. Once aboard, they said they can’t help us, and after some back and forth, they said they would send an email to the folks in charge of the bars. Manager calls the stateroom and tells us it’s totally fine! Helps us out and allows my husband to be the only adult with the alcohol package. Ok great! Once we’re back home you know what I find? They charged me for the drink package too, on the back end. So this is great in theory, and may work for some, but please be wary.
I was able to call and update from the a Deluxe Drink package to Refreshment package without any issues. Not sure what happened in your case. Royal Caribbean was very helpful in this regard and many other scenarios. I just am a FAN of them and will cruise with them for the next several cruises unless something else changes!!
If the drink packages are abt $100 a day and most cocktails cost btwn $12-$15, one would have to drink 7-8 drinks to get their money's worth. I think most people would be in a drunken stupor almost everyday of the cruise. Even if I had two drinks a day at $30, I'm still ahead of the game and saving abt 70 bucks a day. I rather treat myself to a couple massages instead lol.
And you get off the ship early morning debarking day, but you pay for it, that's literally giving away money. Let's not forget either day 1 is not a full day either. Unless you're a drinking machine, it's never worth it.
@@michaelkustin7990 You got a point lol. While not a lightweight, I'm only 5ft tall. My brother-in-law is over 6ft, weighs abt a hundred pounds more and can definitely do damage to a drinking package lol. It's probably one of the few times a cruise line LOSES money haha. He rarely drinks in his daily life so he likes to let loose when cruising.
Tried this they refused had to go in the ship and still was told even though my cabin mate had the refreshment package I couldn’t purchase the unlimited drink package. My cabin mate was 21 years old didn’t drink. After about 20 min of arguing and proving that 8 others in my group had the unlimited drink package they let me purchase it for $90 a day. It is an unfair rule that the staff is not very pleasant bypassing the rule.
You shoulda said your staying in the room with all alcohol drinkers then go stay in your room which could be booked with your non drinker and the groups other non drinkers. Obviously this would only work with more then one non drinker since cabins are double occupancy or better.
It’s a stupid rule. I didn’t know this until right now which would suck for me because I don’t like to drink, and if I do I’m not drinking a lot, just a social drink here and there not 8 plus drinks a day.
Me and my wife don't drink a lot so we get the refresher package and when we order frozen drinks we ask for the Alcohol on the side. As long as we don't have more then 10 drinks a day we save money this way. Only downside is if you want mixed drinks with more then 1 Alcohol.
This is what we did, my brother and I don’t think alcohol, my husband and sister in law do. We didn’t have to specify who was sleeping where, my husband called and said we needed two alcohol packages, and two soda packages for our party of four. It worked. We’ve decided moving forward that we will bring a 12 pack, and then the 1-2 beers/wine my husband might have will just be added on.
I did this with my sisters and nephew. My two sisters were in one room, and I put my 8-Year-old nephew in my room away from his mom. I had the alcohol package and gave him my cup for all the Soda he could drink. No other package was necessary. ;-)
Royal Caribbean needs to have a drink package for people who only are going to drink one or two drinks a day. not everyone wants to drink that much alcohol. Maybe they could offer a package you could spend $100 for the week.
The fact drink packages aren’t charged per stateroom is obscene. Let’s put it this way, I’ve been at sea on odyssey of the seas for almost 10 days now. The drink package for this cruise was $700. I purchased 6 drinks and two shots on day one, and no more than 4 drinks every day since then. I also purchased the WiFi package. My total expense thus far is $680 TOTAL INCLUDING WIFI. Without the WiFi package I’d only have paid for about $380 worth of drinks. I’m one adult. Unless you are actually an alcoholic, or have some extreme limit for alcohol, the drink package is useless.
What if your a diamond level or higher and you get the 4+ drink coupons a day cruising with someone who’s not diamond and they want the drink package. Why would I pay for the package when 4 a day is plenty for me
I feel like the only one in the comments who might not drink as much as their significant other. I will still put down 12 drinks on a port day though. I understand the rule and why it might be a gray area for them but I feel like charging unlimited alcohol for a pregnant wife is just wrong for them to do. Some exceptions need to be made and that’s a clear one.
Wow. Thank you for the info that was great. I’m going to use that info on my next cruise which is in November we’re going to Rome, Spain, Greece. Thank you and have a blessed day.
i usually have about 3 mimosa in the AM and 2 cups of wine for dinner. during the day just depends on the amount of activity but if i was pregnant just be like F it I'll order and give it to someone who pays since they want to charge a delux for someone who OBVIOUSLY CAN'T DRINK ALCHOLO. bear them at their own game🤷♀️ make it seem like the pregnant lady in board is drinking alcholo 😂
I’m turning 21 on the last night of the cruise but the website is still trying to make me pay for the package because my boyfriends getting one. Thanks for this tip.
It does trust me I've had plenty of hangovers. It's just that they measure pour so you're typically getting less in your drinks than at a free pour bar - takes more drinks.
