my tuner told me that putting a intake on one of these dont really do much, they migth sound nicer but he says that it doesnt add any power and is basically useless unless you want the sound
Depends on the tune really. But honestly I just wanted the sound and peace of mid I was getting clean air. The factory box was always a very weird design to me.
Awesome video! Do you have any clearance issues when closing the hood? It looks like it sits up pretty high.
No sir, mine does touch the hood with the silicone slightly but closes and latches like normal!

The 45 degree piece is meant to turn the horizontal part to point straight forward so the 90 that turns down to the filter isn't crooked in the hole. See Evan's intake in the diesel group, and you'll see what I mean.

BBS 219 wheels and 33” BFG Allterrain Tires. Hood closes like normal with not adjustment! 😬

Thank You Sir! X5 content will be returning soon as summer heat winds down 😁 Yes, they are Bmw E92 BBS 219s with a 2” spacer! Try FB marketplace, can hopefully pick some up for cheap around your area!
What did you do about the CCV hose and plugs from the stock tube that was removed?? Also is there any downsides since you installed this?

Plugged any loos hoses that weren't required to route back into the intake pipe.

Thank you! I don’t remember the offset but I’m running 2” spacers and wheels are BBS 219s

The x5 has a pretty good ram air intake, if the box was taller, with a better filter, it be a much better option
So i built this myself, but i have no flutter, just the sustained air hiss. Does that mean i have a leak domewhere?
Yes very possible, try the connection going to the turbo inlet at the maf. Very easy for the clamp to slip on you and create a leak.

so i ordered the metal intake tube how did you bend it ?
I wrapped a microfiber towel around it and put it in my vice. Be careful to do it slow to help ensure it won’t crack.

No sir, still wash her with a pressure washer as well. Just don’t aim it directly at the filter with 1700psi of course hahah
how did you bend the piping ??
I wrapped the pipe in a microfiber towel and then slowly squeezed in my vice. Go slow to help ensure it won’t crack.

What was the reducer used for?
To go from Turbo inlet to intake inlet. I believe size is 2.25 on turbo inlet.
Guess this wouldn’t work well for winter conditions 😅
Works very well for winter conditions. My IATs were 30 degrees in Windrock with this rig as your gathering true ambient air not hot engine bay air. Also with the protective sock over the air filter water/snow is no worry 😎

I don’t believe so, ATM currently makes a cold air intake for them so the desire is not their.
