    Hi from Gainesville, GA USA.
    Yeaaaaah! Great job. It started and parts didn't go flying. Yippi! Dust devils have eaten more awning straps than I can remember. We're glad there was no more damage than there was. I loved the intro fron inside the vet and the great socket escape was pretty cool. You have matured into your RUclips. Super good job. Keep the fun coming! Be happy, safe and stay healthy 😷⚒ FYI... in your information about you, add all the things a search would make it bring to you. Desert, Arizona, fast cars, corvettes, repair, replace, you get the idea. It should drive more traffic to you. Same with the title.

    Wait a minute! Didn't you notice your LS1 cast crank has NO KEYWAY and the new harmonic balancer is made for a crank with a keyway. When I installed a procharger supercharger the instructions have you pin the pulley to the crank by drilling a hole from the front and pinning it so the pulley cannot rotate on the crankshaft. Shame on GM for removing the key and the keyway. It must have the capability to slip to require that modification. The position of the harmonic balancer used to be critical because of the top dead center timing mark that was used with the timing light, but the distributor is gone along with the manual ignition timing adjustment. I'm going to check mine as the added supercharger puts that pulley under greater stress.

      @PootsGarage  2 месяца назад

      You are correct! But the press-on is perfectly fine for stock applications. Pinning the crank is absolutely necessary when you add a supercharger.

    Greetings Again:
    Moving the steering rack to the right and not removing it was the left tie rod end in your way in any fashion or did you remove it? Stand it straight up? Your way, much quicker than removal of the rack. Also, your C5 being Z/51 option has an actual P/S cooler all C5s not having Z/51 option only has a series of stupid piping (useless). Going to be looking for one of the Z/51 units. Thanks.

    Hey guys, installing the C2501 on my 05 c6. Wondering if there’s a method to pin this to the crank? I see there’s a square notch cutout but I’m wondering how this can be added to the crank

    • @PootsGarage
      @PootsGarage  Год назад

      The square notch would be for a factory type woodruff key, which we obviously don't have. A machine shop would have to do that with the crank out of the vehicle. Now from what I've understood, pinning is different. You basically just drill a hole, from the front, with the harmonic balancer in place. The hole would be half in the balancer and half in the crank. Then a round pin can be inserted into the hole to act just like the square woodruff key would.

      I used this same balancer on my 98 C5 and I pinned the crank. It was pretty straightforward. They make a kit for it. Was a little tricky getting a drill in there. I have a question though. My new balancer has a lot of surface rust now. Have you noticed that with yours?

    Does the summit pulley require balancing or weights?

    • @PootsGarage
      @PootsGarage  Год назад

      Nope, the LS1 motors are internally balanced and the balancer is naturally balanced.

    • @PootsGarage
      @PootsGarage  10 месяцев назад +1

      @@galencaudill6462 I’m sorry, but your statement is just wrong. All LS motors are internally balanced. Which means dampeners and flywheels/flex plates are neutrally balanced.

    OUTSTANDING! Did you just run in the ARP bolt on do what others do by using a new stock GM HB bolt first to "seat" the HB? Those GM "originals" are now made in China and the thought of putting that much torque on a China bolt scares the crap outta me snapping inside the crankshaft, then what? Also, did you heat that Summit HB first or just tap it on the crankshaft? Any deviations not shown in your video? My C5 also a 2004 same color. Thanks!!!!!!

    • @PootsGarage
      @PootsGarage  Год назад

      I used an install tool to seat the balancer all the way in. Then torqued the new ARP bolt. I did not heat the balancer. Just get it in place and let the install tool do the work.
