GTA Online BattlEye Anti-Cheat kicks Linux players (No Audio) - Check Pinned Comment

- GTA Online has finally been updated to use BattleEye Anti-Cheat, which is great news, but unfortunately, it causes players who play on Linux through Proton/Wine to get kicked out. Hopefully it won't stay like this for long

I have found a possible fix for Steam players, it's all over ProtonDB atm and people claim that it both works and it doesn't which confuses me.
All you have to do is to:
-install Proton BattlEye Runtime from the steam library;
-add the following launch option to the game:
PROTON_BATTLEYE_RUNTIME="$HOME/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Proton BattlEye Runtime/" %command% (change the directory if you installed it somewhere else)
Please test this for me and let me know if it works, i can't do it myself as i only own the Rockstar Launcher version which requires me to use Lutris and i tried my hardest to fix that as well, but to no avail.

tried it works for a min until i guess the anticheat tries to work and that's without any mods or anything just the proton battleye runtime and the launch command

IIRC, the devs who use either BattlEye or Easy Anti-Cheat in their games have the ability to allow wine/proton players to play their online component of the game. I guess we just have to wait and see if Rockstar actually patches this or not, only time will tell.
Also, if anyone has a workaround to this (besides dual-booting Windows or anything alike), let me know here and i'll pin the comment so anyone with this issue can see it
yeah people just need to wait and hopefully they fixed it, Rockstar do listen to this kind of oversight since they also need Linux userbase for Online to fill the match queues. Theres also other talks of it being updated to use the Expanded enhanced version so we'll see
if u have steam deck is useless to dual boot u need a new drive just for windows and no sd card is not an option
@Ssebyt12 i don't think anyone would even consider doing so, unless it's for a video idea or something along these lines
@R0by_0802 running windows 10 or 11 whit atlas os the run steam big picture should be ok

I found that It's not just Linux but also windows systems I contacted rockstar support and everything they gave me to help didn't help then they said they were going to send me to another department to investigate the issue so I'll update once I get a response back that helps

I'm using windows and today after updating GTA 5, since then while i was playing suddenly battleye kicked me out and now it's keep kicking me out to. i don't use any mode.

Believe it or not but I figured out how to get it working on Linux. If there are people interested in the solution I can post it here. Just a command line and pointing to the BattleEye folder in main game folder did the trick for me. I can explain step by step instructions for people wanting to join GTA V Online on Linux

@MeetJain-m3d it should work, but the guy never told us the actual fix, just some clues. He didn’t reply yet, but i’ll try to find and pin the fix myself, hope i can find anything based on what he said

for a Linux user, i guess that's one way to put it. Of course, Rockstar won't be affected by this at all as the vast majority of PC players use Windows anyway, just sucks for us and the people who want to play the game on a Steam Deck

Idk if youll be able to load mod menus on linux but if you can force season host itll fix the issue
The issue isn't that i'm trying to play with mods, the issue is that no one using Linux (even Steam Deck players) can play online at all
And yes, mod menus for Linux aren't a thing if i recall correctly

@@R0by_0802 No the vast majority plays GTA because there are cheat to have fun, if you don't know, go to look at forums and you'll see.
I know for a fact that ain't true, there are more players playing on console than on pc, enjoying their time in a game where it's practically impossible to play with mods, or at least not in public lobbies
If you think that ruining the experience for other people in exchange for personal satisfaction is a good thing to do then good for you. I just want to enjoy my game without having to deal with crashes, being endlessly exploded and killed for no reason, being caged randomly or having the whole map duplicated in the sky randomly, it just ruins the fun
BattlEye doesn't work and never will especially for GTA 5 there are menus up already so they killed a whole platform for no reason whatsoever rip non windows users

first copy ur gta file and put it in external hard drive download revo uninstaller and delete rockstar it removes all files on the pc and uninstall gta and open ur %appdata% and remove any client hack if u have and if u found an fsl file delete it in appdata it the all cause when it happen to me the fsl so harmful file and paste ur gta file from ur external hard drive agian if u dont have external hard drive if u dont have u will download gta 5 agian and i hope it work it worked for BTW

as i said to the other person, it might just be a program that’s running in the background that triggers it (AutoHotKey or an antivirus for example). if not, then ig you’ll have to google this a bit more
I just got a 3mb update today and after i updated started the heist i got kicked saying you are being kicked from this session by battle eye am on windows 11 and i never used any mods is anyone else facing this issue?
@@kaizad811 there’s a bunch in the comments here facing this issue and i told them a fix that should work, cause like, if you’re on windows there’s no way the game would show you this if you don’t have some sort of cheat or something that BattlEye doesn’t like on your pc

Not only linux players, im kicked everyday by battleEye. Congratulations "bugstar". Making unplayable a broken game...
Its so annoying i cant even play for 5 mins without getting kicked
use 2take1 and anticheat to be disabled, enter the modder session and you're done.

2. from what i’ve seen, the cheat isn’t working on the latest patch
@@R0by_0802 I don't know why Rockstar put in anticheat, I liked to play with others in missions with the menu. and 2take1 can no longer bypass because it is not safe, the anticheat must be disabled and after that you can enter Multiplayer, but on the modders' servers that have the menu.
@@R0by_0802 it's the same in the rules after 2take1, he can do a bypass but it's not safe. if it's safe if someone can report you to get banned. so now we hackers can enter special sessions with BattlEye disabled. but I don't know if I play alone or with other modders.
@@andreinitu603 Not the best place to complain about this, i’m totally against modding of any kind and the whole purpose of the anticheat is to stop modders. It was also mostly player demand and the fact that they want to experiment with it for gta 6, so it had to happen at some point anyway
gta has too many bugs... and yet they added more
