- Okay - maybe it is not the coolest electric bass guitar ever... let me know what you think? Gold never goes out of style, apparently. This video series will document trying to put this bass together, for a friend, with the parts that he has left me to work with. There are going to be some issues, so be prepared to discover them with me over the next few videos. Thanks again for watching!

Ah yes a reminder of why im going to plug the old larger holes and Re drill for this style tuner.
You’re more patient than me. I’d hand it back when became clear the post holes were too large.
Right??? LOL... new screws worked fine.
Apparently it became necessary to cut off parts of the body of the instrument in order to compensate for the added weight of the "gold" foil..... not to mention the weight of the Krylon or Rustoleum spray paint.😉
Vintage Dimarzio pickups. I have them in one of my basses. Quite nice.
They will be the best part of this bass 😁

Somebody misunderstood the directions on how to shield the guitar and put the foil on the wrong side of the pick guard! 😉

@@ManotickGuitarTech , was this an actual Fender P-bass, or a Japanese or Asian copy? It'd be a shame to cut up an actual Fender like that. Regardless, I bet that thing could cause temporary blindness in the audience if a spotlight hits it...

As a retired audio repair tech who can't play worth a darn but can do basic guitar/bass setups, I sometimes wish I was an orphan and didn't have any musician friends so that I wouldn't have been asked to fix these types of basket cases for free or nearly so!
