Excellent video that really gets to the soul of what Royal County Down is all about. I am lucky enough to have played it once but you really need to play it a few times as there is so much subtlety to the course and a lot of blind shots unless you hit in the perfect position on every tee shot
Has been my favourite course in the world since I played it in junior golf. The par 3 7th is one of the best short par 3s in the world, in my opinion. Yes, it needs wind to make it tricky, but it’s so memorable for all the right reasons. And the par 3 4th is a beast off the back tees. In cross winds you’re delighted to hit the green on either of those holes. Special place!
Certainly one of the best on Earth and my favorite in Northern Ireland (played Portrush twice and also great but I would take RCD over it). Am I the only one who wishes that they flipped the nines? Then the round isn’t anticlimactic. If flipped, it would still be a great 4 hole start then you would good go through the merely good holes and the last nine would be amazing as the best front nine on Earth would become the best back 9 on Earth.
I think it's a great course but not number one in the world or Ireland by a good margin. Royal portrush is easily the better course. That said RCD is a great course too many blind shots for my taste but if does have incredible stretches
I 100% agree I think it's a great course but not number one in the world or Ireland by a good margin. Royal portrush is easily the better course. That said RCD is a great course too many blind shots for my taste but if does have incredible stretches
I disagree as well as the three friends I golfed with. We played both back to back in 2023 with Portrush being first. All of us agreed RCD was the better of the two. We also played the European Club and Portmarnock. All were great courses don’t get me wrong but that’s our opinion.
Going to play there in the spring and can't wait!
What a tremendous course. Dream trip to get there and tee it up.
You guys crushed the visual capture on this one. Prob the best course review I’ve seen on here!
Thanks for watching!

That was amazing thanks Andy!
Thanks Andy and FEG Team for showcasing this course. Those scenes and those descriptions gave me goosebumps as I watched.
Thank you for watching!
Wow, what a stunning course!
Great stuff as always! - Get Andy rambling on golf courses and I will listen or watch whatever it is

Can't wait to get back there. Amazing place.
I hope the Irish Open coverage is able to do the course justice.
Great work putting this together, looks like an amazing place to play a round. Hope to get out there one day.
Got to play there this summer. Unbelievable track, unbelievable staff, great group of caddies!
I would love to go there
First time I ever beat my dad at golf was age 13, and it was at Royal County Down. He grew up there, I think it stung a little lol.
My favorite in all of Ireland, Scotland and the rest of the UK. While Portrush is terrific, I like RCD better!

Looks damn tough to me 12 handicap.Prefer west coast Scotland courses,Troon &Western Gailes😊
Ballyneal hat, nice!!
Had to rep America's dunesland
@@mattfriedegg it's the best!
Andy’s got very “that wasn’t a microdose” vibes. Guy’s just perpetually holding back a laugh.
Especially when you listen to the Yolk with Doak podcast series.
Would love to play there but I’m afraid £425 for a round is way out of my league
Target golf, made for the 10% that know exactly where their ball is going.
I'm not gonna fly across the Atlantic to shoot 120.

Don't agree. I have played RCD and it is very over rated. No idea how it is ranked so high. Portrush is twice the course.
Can you give us some more insight as to why you rated it so poorly in comparison to the video?

@@GM2401 Portrush is on a better piece of land and has 18 strong holes. RCD front 9 is good but back nine is weak.
Have to disagree. I shot a better score at Portrush but RCD has more magic and tests more facets of your game.
