I watched several Chinese RUclipsrs doing real world gas consumption testing on the new BYD hybrid, and most of them reached 2400 Km (with a full tank of 65 Liters gas), which is equivalent to 80+ miles per gallon (on mix of highway and local drive), which is insane.
Note: I suspect that the above results came from driving at relatively slower speeds.
I later found another two real world tests, who drove mostly on highway at speed limits (120-100 km/h), and their results are about 1950-2000 km, which is very close to BYD’s official number. This is still quite impressive.
Note 2: I later found another testing video from a group who always does some kind of “abusive”tests, who test drove this car to another extreme, five big guys, heavy load in trunk, driving above speed limit on highway (which is real bad for any hybrid fuel economy), AC to very low, sometimes windows open … ended up merely 1200km, far below its advertised 2000km.
So I would say the range varies quite a lot, depending on your driving conditions or habits.
And, 2400 km with the air conditioning on!

I was in Shanghai earlier this year. BYD isn’t the only cool Chinese car company. Aito and avatr are even better. At the rate the Chinese are innovating and backed with a world beating manufacturing output, they will dwarf not only the US but the EU as well. The west is more focused on no bail, female sports, victimization, DEI, LGBT, ESG movements than actual scientific development.

One Didi driver owned 2017 BYD EV ran 370000km with no issues just changed 4 sets of tires and 4 brake pads X2...also the original battery but drawn down to 80 %

Hybrids are really the future.. 2000 km is incredibly a game changer and totally eliminates range anxiety into oblivion.
It is the first time that the gas/electric costs of a hybrid is lower than battery EVs. It is a game changer.
Maybe not so much range anxiety, since the ability to put gas in the car basically eliminates range anxiety, and you wouldn't need more than say 1000 km on a tank anyways. What 2000 km (some city driving tests suggest at lower speeds you might get something like 2800 km range!) plus range means is that you no longer have to go wait in line at Costco gas every week. Just put gas in the tank once a month is enough due to how efficient it is.

It's actually up to 2500km not 2000km. All tested trails passed 2300km mark. 2500km = 1563 miles

I don't know if the west is serious about dealing the climate change issue or not, when they don't even have enuf charging station for EVs.
The purpose of them using climate change was simple: to stop emerging contries like China and others from rising in manufacturing by limiting their carbon output. 106 MPG or 2.2L/100KM, it can go even under 1.9-2.0L/100KM without turning on the AC. Which is 123MPG beating the Prius into ash.

Real life test results are 115 miles per gallon or better is revolutionary! No matter what is your political point of view, at least we have to be honest to ourselves.

@@DaddyBear205 I've watched several of those long distance tests already. Most of them got around 2400 km (1500 mile) out of a full tank of gas, which holds 17 gallons. 1500/17 works out to around 88 mpg. It is the city runs at lower speeds where they are getting over 100 mpg.
@@Qianbao1 One quick test I watched they did 110 km loop in Xian city at lower speeds, which only consumed like 2.4 liter of fuel. By that measure a full 65 liter tank of gas might get 3000 km of city range!

Imagine this technique is developed in the US. Half year before product launch, there has been news and publicities. Months before launch, stock of that company starts skyrocketing. And the suggested retail price will start at $69,999.

Just looked at online test drives from China. With full tank of gas, it went 1560 miles. At it has 110 MPG. Have no idea how it achieve that. And it costs $13000 in China. It is amazing.

所以国内应该搞一个跟国外lease车一样的系统。车企牵头，每月交贷款可以开新的或者二手车，合同可以签三年左右，到时候就还车，根据磨损度补差价，或者想要买了它也可以折价买。

They've spent nearly 2 decades building up an entire EV value chain, and if the US wants to rival that, it'll take 20 years too. A couple of years ago, I also had a Tesla Model 3. Currently, my daily drivers are the Zeeker 001 and Xiaomi SU7, which indeed surpass many traditional performance and luxury cars. Once you've driven them, there's simply no going back.

As battery technology improves, you'll always have access to the most efficient batteries. Plus, you can rent the batteries, which cuts down on the cost of buying the car a lot. NIO might not be able to compete with BYD in overall tech, but many Chinese manufacturers have joined NIO's battery swap alliance. If they come out with battery swap cars (even though none have yet), they'll definitely use NIO's standards.
