Bosch AS vs Older Wheelock AS
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 19 янв 2020
- A comparison between an older Wheelock AS and a Bosch rebranded newer style AS. In this video, I compare similarities and differences between both devices.
Carter: The Wheelock AS is my least favorite alarm
Also Carter: *owns 4 ASs and has a Wheelock AS in his profile picture*
LOL!
the classic is my lease favorite cuz it’s soooo loud it’s the loudest fire alarm right or is it the advance but i love the advance
@@jonathanstarling1082 The Wheelock AS is not very loud. Wheelock's loudest alarm is the Exceder. Yes, the SpectrAlert Advance is the loudest of all.
@@jonathanstarling1082 I mean fire alarms are supposed to be loud
@@lightsfansofthewest481 it's pretty loud and has three volume settings like some exceders do but the pitch is higher and doesn't carry as far
I have an older ceiling mount AS. It Works well. Mine is a fixed 75 candela and it was made in 1997.
Wish I could find a salvage shop that has this stuff in my town. btw, nice video, very informative.
The most oldest wheelock AS is sideways
Apparently it has no volume setting so you probably can’t switch to strobe only mode idk about the second generation ones but those have a code-3 jumper
i fell asleep to this video like an idiot. i got scared awake because i thought my dorm’s fire alarm was going off.
Waaait, if your least favorite alarm is the AS how come it’s your profile picture?
Ironic, isn't it?
😂😂😂😂😂
Nice!! I've seen a Bosch AS at the Walmart in falmouth Massachusetts.
That doesn't make me surprised at all. The one in Claremont, NH, started getting Bosch components for their system.
i can imagine doing a trashy youtube prank at a mall or something and bringing this in and hooking up the wires to a 9v battery or some power source
Funny you pointed out the noisy strobe. A few weeks ago, I pulled my fire alarm crap out of the closet after almost 7 years of forgetting about it and finally got around to fulfilling my childhood dream of making a fire alarm mock up board. After getting everything set up and finished and testing it for the first time, I instantly remembered just how stupidly whiny the 90s Wheelock strobes are (NS dated 98 and RSS dated 99).
But I would get the older stuff anyway. Like so much from the 90s, the fire alarms are weirdly nostalgic-even though I wasn’t even alive in the 90s. Maybe because of a lot of the buildings and culture still around when our generation grew up.
I saw a crazy fire alarm fail at a museum! The walls were painted green-ish/gray, and the fire alarms are red, but now gray. Not just one, but two! They even got paint on one of the lights!
Cool stuff! I might get an AS in the future.
Well good luck 😢
Me too
also, there is a miscomseption about knock-offs and rebrands. Knock offs are copies that are not the actual thing, but tried to mimick it. Rebrands are the same thing, but just branded by another company
I noticed my newer style as is kinda whiny and the strobe doesn’t flash much if at all with certain candela settings if underpowered and also if you wanna set the horn to continuous high volume you can put both jumpers on the four in a row pins the medium and low settings get overridden that’s how you can avoid keeping track of the jumpers if they’re right there
Thats a cool fire alarm that was branded by bosch
Every single company all ways rebrand this alarm along with the NS,RSS, and the MT
Yep
Nice! Never knew Bosch rebranded the as
I just got the ceiling mount version by wheelock apparently the highest candela setting is 95 not 110 and the strobe is whiny but the edges are curved so idk if it’s as loud as this one
I do like the multi candela, round-edged and the vertical strobe Wheelock ASs better than the other ones.
Yes I never cared for AS either and probably because those were the alarms used in Elementary school for all those drills! I remember our former Walmart having those style alarms, and that one had the older AS alarms with the strobe on the side interestingly enough!
This is the sound that Wheelock Products used to make.
Does the AS use the same jumpers as the Wheeloc CH70? Mine came without a jumper, so I'm in search for some.
@Wheelove fire alarms outside my middle school, I have a wheelock AS. And it sounds like a cricket, seems like its broken.
I have a harrington rebranded wheelock as. Anyway cool video
❤ wow amazing these days
The Thumbnail of the video that displays "Hot or Not?" Is a reference to the Hot or Not rating site that allowed users to rate the attractiveness of photos submitted voluntarily by others.
If the photos of these fire alarms were on that website then I would rate the Wheelock AS a 5/10 and the Bosch AS 10/10
Where I work at has them rebranded as Siemens.
Edit: I heard them go off last week, and honestly they weren't as ear piercing as I thought they'd be.
Unless I'm just made differently.
The temporal is much faster than the other Wheelock As's
The loudest alarm shall remain the Spectralert Advance in my opinion.
were they the newer as
@@michaelgrahamwongacutemadness Yeah. Sorry for the late response, I've been busy.
Ive got a wheelock AS horn strobe in which the horn works but the strobe does not work. I hoomed it up to 24 dc from an ac to dc converter and a "potentiometer". Is there anything I need to look at?
Bosch makes lots of stuff like laundry machines and so much more
You ever try circuit bending these things?
I'm kinda starting to get into Wheelock. Nice video.
So you're saying you hate wheelock as's but you have one as your profile pic
Hayden Swena wow
Holy shit, you fucking killed him dude.
@@nws_of_cushing_ok7188 why the heck are you even cussing
1:18 my favorite part
Good video on RUclips. For me, it's the older Simplex, the 7001 & 7002 & both the 34-24 & 34Ts that are my least favorite model of Fire Alarms. Btw, I like the newer & the original model of the Wheellock Horn strobes, honestly.
I have seen a Bosch AS at a Fred Meyer before. (If you don’t know Fred Meyer. It basically a Kroger but it sells more stuff).
I might get a wheelock as horn strobe to in the future
The AS is on my bottom tier too. I'm more of a speaker strobe fan, so my top tier is the EST Genesis speaker-strobe, which my stepmother's high rise is filled with. I love that place but I have yet to hear the alarms.
my top tier is the simplex 9846
I've found that the newer Wheelock devices sound smoother if that makes any sense. This applies to both the AS and NS. The older ones are slightly lower pitched and scratchy sounding while the new ones have a more crisp and clear sound, which I like a lot more.
Oh my heck. It's a bosch
What is the model number of the as on the right
When was the rebranded as made?
These alarms were in the science wings at my high school in the class rooms. They were on code 3 and way too loud to be inside a class room in my opinion.
I haven't seen those fire alarms in that brand
Can you make a video of how to wire a commander 1 to a bg 12l?
Nice video
I strongly dislike wheelock as alarms because of their looks and screetching sound and i never plan on getting a wheelock as
4:09
i don’t who why but i think the classic seems louder then the advance
Why does that have to be certified to be used in New York…
Personally I think system sensor spectralerts sound bad/ my least favorite. But I,see why you might not like the AS.
What store are you going to?
Idk early 2000s in 1990s there was 0% of the regular alarms was only gent fire alarms
These things are incredibly loud oh my goodness they would hurt my ears if they were my school
bro has a weelock as as his profile pic so if its your profile photo why is it your least favor
ight
like the intro
If a Weelock AS was you least favorite, why is your RUclips picture a weelock AS?!
Illuminati confirmed.
It's a mystery .m.
The AS alarms aren’t my favorite.. get an MT, has the same noise but more easily supports audible silence
But let’s see if it’s worth the $5
Yup. Much worth the $5
I have an AS made in 1997
I saw a Wheelock
Is that real or toys 0:44
I would get an NS.
try siemens ones

😇😇HEADS UP HEADPHONE USERS😇😇
Beeeeezzzzz
What salvage store online or real life
Cuz I want alarms from that store
RaccoonAlarms 57 there is a place called Alarmax that you can buy fire alarms from
@@savagedude9689 thanks I subed to u btw
@@savagedude9689 they are very expensive. They only sell B2B. You have to have a business license and work for an alarm installer to get products from there.
@@savagedude9689 its not just a store that you walk into, pick up an alarm, and check out. you have to be a technician.
Carter can you talk louder in your videos because sometimes i can't here you.
I agree, he needs a good mic.
I don’t like horn strobes
l o u d
You don’t like the AS 😭✋🏼
