The problem with brands like TCL and Hisense is the same models in different parts of the world have different chipsets, stripped back features and different operating systems. Once this is fixed they will get closer to the big 3 brands.

Vincent states very clearly in every comparison video that we shouldn‘t pay attention to what we see in the video but instead to what he is saying. No cameras are good enough to capture the entire dynamic range of any of those TVs and additionaly you would need to watch the video on a reference monitor that necessarily has to be more capable than the displays he is capturing. So no, I don‘t believe that this is a factor and that his decisions are much more based on demand and what he thinks is worthwhile for consumers in the market he is in which is the British/European. He hasn‘t tested any more budget focused TVs in quite a long time.

Nice seeing again an interview with you and Mr. Maciejewski :-) ... some very interesting things came up:
    - printed OLED sounds extremely interesting ... TCL now seems to have a OLED development link to BOE(?) as well as to JOLED via CSOT (need to go for some research^^)
    - the UK and Germany seem to be quite similar markets in Europe re no. of tvs sold/installed and content being used ... interesting ... this may also be reflected in the model options offered by the tv OEMs in both markets
    - again noted there are no other HDMI-ports now than HDMI 2.1 (although they can massively differ) ... means we have to be more careful now, when looking for "full-fat" 2.1-port(s)

Hard to tell from his presentation but I would be interested to see a set calibrated for color accuracy and whether it can produce an immersive image in movies, games, sports content. one thing I can agree with is that Miniled TV's are very good in a living room if you have lights on. But now they are making OLED TVs brighter and they are almost as good in a bright room. Overall I think it's preference for which technology is best for your use case. I have both Miniled in my living room and OLED in my bedroom. I'm a fan of both but I watch my OLED much more than my Miniled and FALD TV's.

FALD comes in bigger sizes, higher resolutions and doesn't have burn-in ... if any of those things matter or you have a bright room then FALD wins. otherwise OLED wins. i never had OLED but i noticed that OLED demos always use completely unrealistic footage with solid black background - something you never get in real life. there is no 100% black in real life nor could real cameras capture it if there was. OLED looks impressive in demos but with real content good FALD looks almost the same, but is bigger, brighter, sharper ( 8K ) and has no burn-in ...

Switched to a dlp projector for quite a few years thinking I'd never go back to led tech. However, my current monitor is an LG VA panel and I was blown away by how far led tech has come. Any ghosting it has seems to be from transitioning from one specific color to another but it's somewhat rare and more importantly it doesn't give me eyestrain. Quality wise it's leaps and bounds over my first hdtv.

People aren't spending "2k+ on a TV that is overshadowed in less than 2 years". They are spending that money on sets that can produce the best picture quality today. Technology will always become 'overshadowed' in short order. There is no point at which you can buy something won't have better versions in a few years. So you can pay less for older tech that is good enough for you or you can spend more for tech that is the most modern.
As for QD OLED, if you are thinking that living room size sets are going to be below 1k in just a 'few more years', you will likely need to make sure your definition of "a few" is more than 2.

Any chance of reviewing the Samsung QN90/95B soon, now that Filmmaker mode has accurate colours and properly tracks the PQ EOTF like the S95B? Especially the 43-50 inch model (popular for a gaming monitor choice) would be awesome to see the better clarity and contrast this model has but also how bad the off axis viewing suffers as well because of this. And see the motion improvements if any as well as general blooming mitigation. I want to see how close it gets to an oled, it seems like the best alternative. You would be the only one with a proper review of this model..... ; ) The TCLs sound like it might beat it in contrast with 7000:1 native panel contrast which is exceptional for a VA (only the Samsung Q60T got that high by using dual temp led lights, but of course depends on the local dimming quality to increase it further) but not sure how the smaller Samsung QN90Bs do in contrast.....? ; ) I wonder how TCL achieves that high with a WVA layer as well? But the Samsung might be a better overall bet for quality and size, we'll see if TCL delivers....

Some people like the punchy bright colours, brighter specular highlights and generally brighter picture of LED TV's, whilst others prefer the perfect blacks and superior contrast of OLED's - it's literally just personal taste but the gap between the 2 technologies gets smaller every year.

Nice specifications on the paper but the Warranty Support in Turkey is very catastrophic. Many panels have ghosting, light leak, CI Module problems and the service centers can only do software update to solve these issues. The reason is that TCL (and its distributor in Turkey) doesn't have its own service centers. This job is delegated to a 3rd Party Company which also empowers to other local service shops because most of them see the TV when they came to open the box in the customer's house. They can not fix C7xx direct led systems and with such a high knowledge and they will fix miniLED panels.

Mini-LED is for sure going to be a huge leap forward in visual quality and intensity. Although not sure if it will replace OLED outright. Examining this comparison through a video one can already see how obnoxiously bright it is in a completely lit room. Imagine in a dark environment, or as a computer monitor. It is getting dangerously strong at this point. Only downside is that there is no 55 inch or lower version for DPI precision, although I'd guess that more real estate would come at a lower cost. At this point deciding factor would lie behind preference, specific viewing scenario and software calibration / functionality comparison. Interesting to see yet another option and competition continuing to push innovation forward in application

      @@NexGenTek .. You don't understand..
Real MiniLED TV's already exists in 1080p, where all pixels are an actual Light emitting diode (LED)
this is the end game, and is self-emisive.
We don't want organic light emitting diodes.. They degrade over time, you need to dim static elements and a ton of other stuff running in the background to watch over your fragile Organic light emitting diode pixels (OLED)
The S95B can hit 1500 nits for a fraction of a second, it's actual peak brightness is around 1050 nits. And restrictive ABL kicks in very soon to reduce brightness, with a full-field of only 200 nits.
With actual real miniLED there will be no ABL, insanely high dynamic range (peak brightness) perfect black, and no degeneration of the pixels over time.
This is the true end-game. Organic LED's is only a temporary solution because it's currently impossible to make a 2160p miniLED TV, the LED's are too large.
An OLED panel is 'grown' while a MiniLED panel is "build"
The actual 1080p MiniLED Tv's in existence right now, cost a fortune.

      @@Lasse3 I don't think you understand..
Where did you come up with real miniLed being self-emissive. They aren't where are you getting that information? What 1080p displays?
Do you mean micro-led because mini led will never be self-emissive for that they have to be organic hence the saying "self-emissive" and highlights happen for fraction of a second they are instant flashing and ABL has gotten better to the point they'll probably be a different solution in the future not to mention you can disable it.
Mini-led will never give you perfect black and the ones that exist now also dimmed during highlights or suffer extreme blooming and haloing,DSE etc. Contrast is the most important part of the picture. So until micro-led which will give us perfect black and crazy high peak brightness. OLED is the way to go especially now that the color and high color volume has reached high levels of Rec 20/20 and high peak brightness.

Dual cell LCD's only let about 2-3% of the light come through.
It was also not a first generation technology, dual cell LCDs have been used for a long time in various applications such as medical imaging and color grading monitors.

emissive technology is really the only way forward weather it's organic or conventional LEDs it doesn't matter.

The industry needs to focus on micro-LED technology instead - this is the future and current prices and limitations prevent it from being commercially viable. More R&D is needed in micro-LED tech.

There's still life in OLED so I don't expect to see micro led for a while yet.

Unfortunately MicroLED likely isn't going to be available at decent sizes(55in to 75in) at reasonable consumer prices for a long time. The smallest size right now is an 89in, but it costs somewhere between $50,000 and $100,000. However, NanoLED, which is more or less equivalent to MicroLED, but not quite on the same level, is supposedly going to be available in 2026 and they claim it'll be cheaper than current TV's. We'll see how that pans out.

The problem is this shit never seems to go down in price over time anymore. Technology used to get cheaper as it aged, but it seems like now all the prices just stay the same and new products just increase the price over time.

I still am rocking my 2020 TCL 55r635
What's everyone's thoughts on that TV? I have a Series X so the fact that my ports are only 2.0, I can only get 1440/120. But I'm more than fine with 4k/60 because as soon as I put my tv in 1440/120 Xbox disables HDR and the image doesn't look nearly as good. I guess the Xbox only allows HDR on 4k signals?

    There's a 99% chance I buy the C93.
7,000:1 contrast AND less color shift AND 1920 zones AND it should work almost the same at low latency AND 4K144hz.
TCL has analyzed the enthusiast market perfectly.

@@adhom9053 I've been watching prices on the QN90A recently and right now I'm glad I never found a sale. Samsung local dimming in game mode is horrendous, and if TCL really does have the full dimming algorithm working with just an extra few milliseconds delay that's fantastic.
Before now I thought we'd have to wait to 2023 for upgrades from TCL, but as soon as RTINGS confirms everything is working correctly I will buy the C93 ASAP.

In Germany I will never buy a TCL TV again. I have 2 TCL. And I get no Updates. The Menü speed is horrible, TV Start slow. No Sky Ticket App. Why in Europe I became no Firmware Updates? That sucks. I shit on this Firma. Never again. No Firmware Updates, that's a no go. The Security Updates over 1 Year old.

Specifically when you're viewing in brighter light environment - mini-LED can offer a better experience.
But still for gaming and viewing at night or in a dark room- OLED is king.
