I was at this concert in 94, god almost 27 years ago. Having seen Journey in 2014 with Ariel Pineda, I was so glad to have been to see Perry in 1994. Pineda is a real good vocalist, but nobody is Perry. It also didn't help that by 2014 Cain, Schon and Valory were all so much older than Pineda, the contrast in a young guy running around and 3 senior citizens stationary was just strange.

Arnel will always be the copy cat of Steve Perry, he can not have his own identity, unless he sings songs of original composition.
To be fair Journey beat the hell out of Steve's voice in the 80's ... the touring schedule was brutal for a lead singer ... so yes he's a little off Steve of the early 80's ... 1981 and 1983 with good reason
Compare how? Arnel sounds a little like Steve Perry, that's about it. There is no competitive comparison but it usually turns out that way, People like to go with one better than the other. Hes a great singer, has great vocals but no Steve Perry, and Im not even a fan of Journey.

But singer back in the 1980s and 1990s were amazing, and steve Perry had such a powerful voices and sang from the heart. and with such depth...you can feel there emotions. he is the top singer I have ever heard, when it comes to male singers.
