rockstar rocks for the bomber pilots that don’t space or base camp, I have no problem with them. It’s the ones that sit on their AF and J out when you dive to kill them. The first ones I have mentioned are very rare.
I like the plane a lot. Sure thing, it doesn't have good high alt performance and a mediocre climbrate above 3-4k, but it's great divespeed makes this thing perfect to pull enemies low and bait them for the team, while extending from them and repositioning afterwards is easy, as long as you have a decent team that knows what it is doing. The plane forces a more supportive role than an aggressive role, yet still the guns are good enough to wreak havoc at times and thus have the ability to 'twist plots' suprisingly well - as shown in your video. However, a disciplined and overall patient playstyle is the most rewarding from my experience, because winning matches is my way to go, with or without kills. On the other hand I can understand that impatient players who want a lot of kills do not fav this plane, but in my opinion that is not the way how to play this game in the end, regardless of the plane used. Nicely done, Adam!
The more I watch your videos, the better I get at wt, I usually do props in ab but I don't use lock on, and since watching your vids my accuracy has improved and so has my flying, new players should definitely take all of your tips into account. Very helpful thank u

That last shot! I also don't play this plane to much even though i love it's high speed maneuverability, but i realized why. It's because around this br there are simply better meta fitting planes such as C 205 serie 3 , J2M2, g 55 serie-0. There is also F4U-1A 1 br lower with overall better performance than P51 so...
Hahaha execution efficiency! Hmm P51 fits the meta at that tier pretty well, since the fights end up at low altitude nearly every time, and it's fast with great armament. I do agree that it's BS that the F4U1A is at 2.7, wtf. Same BR as Wildcat. I'd say it has the same performance as the P51, but faces way worse enemies.

Once I chased an enemy and my teammate went for head-on with him and tbh I didn't expect it cuz he only turned towards me when I was very close. So I shot down the enemy and unfortunately my teammate as well .
Yeah that's also a risk. I stop firing when a teammate is going head on and could be shot by me, and I also don't go directly behind the enemy or I'll get shot by my teammate too.
I fell in love with this fighter just recently because of her best kept secret abilities and not just for her looks like before. She's a beast yet to be tamed but fly her like a P-51 should be flown and you'll receive exeptional results! I like to fly her in arcade and I got the same amount of kills you got in realistic...6 without dying and Iam looking forward to more in the future as I get to know her better....Awesome flying as usual and thanks for sharing Adam!👍😎✈
8:48 I think because it has this thing where it oscillates back and forth quite violently in the roll axis when it is diving. Makes it hard to accurately control the plane while looking behind you with camera, or in general while approaching a target at high speed. The same problem is there in spitfires and yaks but they make up for it with great low speed performance. Oh yeah and iirc the 190's also had this problem before their FM buff. Also, speaking of rolling and low speed performance, the P-51A's flaps cause it to do very very very very weird things while rolling at near-stall speeds - sometimes it gets stuck upside down, for example. So I can't ever use landing flaps when doing energy traps. But yeah, for me at least, this is why I don't find this plane particularly enjoyable to fly even though it seems really good. The weird roll oscillations and the very bad landing flaps. They just make it difficult to handle. And especially when the... inconsistent... cannons often require you (or me, at least) to make multiple passes on enemies, I can't afford the random oscillations throwing off my aim even more, or the inability to do rope-a-dopes at medium to low speeds.
Yeah that may be it. When inverted at low speed, the more flaps you have the harder it is to roll back, especially in P51s. "inconsistent cannons" that's generous ;).
That P47 that started shooting the plane in front of you at 4:39 would have been enough to cause me to shoot that p47 down that's some bs shooting while you have the lead on a target
I understand that you are already pre-occupied with your plane requests, but I would strongly recommend you try playing out the B-34 as a heavy fighter. It plays that role surprisingly well with its air spawn and 50s. Also recommend the BV238 as a heavy fighter as well lol.
Nice vídeo! The "CannonStang" is lethal! But this video shows clearly how the new damage model affects performance. If you are shot, you are dead. Not instantly, but it's impossible to keep flying after a shot. The pilot's wounds model make the plane sluggish and gravity does the finishing.
Thanks! Pilot damage is still relatively rare, but I agree it's a death sentence if there's still an enemy on you. No defensive flying capability at all. At least it forces you to conserve energy ;).
Depends on the model. All 190s maneuver well for their BR at high speed, earlier Bf109s not so much. Also things change with time as aircraft are changed and tweaked.

Hmm are you turning with a plane that turns better than the enemy? Also if you get into a turnfight/scissor when you started with a higher speed than the enemy, there's a good chance you'll end up in front of them.

Best plane the US have at 3.7 is the captured 109 **Grabs popcorn**, And the "headon an enemy while a teammate is on his 6" is like whatever as long as idiot friendlies don't blow you up in the process..
Captured F4 is probably the most useful teammate at 3.7, because it can't load ordnance lmao. I mostly avoid the damage, but the teammate heading on who dies uselessly is the main issue for me.
I honestly much prefer to use the A36 without additional guns over the P51 A. They’re basically the same but the A36 uses .50 cals instead of Hisparkos and it also gets an airspawn making it good for getting kills on bombers or getting altitude advantages on the enemy.
I got my best game yesterday in this, mostly stock besides the engine, radiator, new 20mm belts, and the 1st modification to the guns. 2 kills, 1 assist, 3 ground targets.
I've recently found a love for jet games in wt, and I've noticed that you dont upload jet videos to your channel, is there a reason for this? I love the prop videos btw, I use whatever strats I see on your videos and it has helped a lot.
I can't thank you enough for how much you taught me...Anyway, I play WarThunder at around 10-11 fps(sometimes spikes to 45-47 fps for somereason). I didn't download Full client for obvious reasons, I keep a dark background, close all other programmes etc...But still get to around 15 fps average. Any tips to improve this?
You basically are already doing the best you can. I used to play on a bad laptop and was in a similar situation, the game improved a lot after I upgraded.

Well now if they can fix it AND make sure those things don't fight 5.3-5.7 german planes on a regular basis, I would be glad. I mean, what do you do against that in a FW 190D or a Ta152 ? The version with the cal .50 would be somewhat balanced but nobody played/play it.
So at 2:30, the 190 does an excellent job of dodging your shots, but then dumps all his energy. Am I correct that in that situation, he should have extended in a shallower climb to try and drain your energy?
We outnumbered him, if he tried to do anything except dive he was going to get shot down. If he extended straight I might not have gotten a shot, but the F4U coming in would have caught him easily.
Adam514 ah, gotcha. So perhaps a dive down with some defensive flying to force a reversal? Just trying to figure out what to do, as I greatly enjoy the Antons
Antons are pretty good at forcing reversals at medium speeds. You need to be careful though, because P51s turn pretty well at high speed and have good flaps, you may need to chop throttle.
Would you be so kind as to upload a video on the Hunter? I don't know how to realistically use it as it constantly faces the Mig-17 which is better in absolutely every regard, and considering mine isn't spaded, CL-13's and the like more than often chase me down and kill me, there's literally nothing I can do.
Armament is better on the Hunter ;). I'm no jet expert however. I recommend asking the same question on DEFYN's channel ( ruclips.net/user/DEFYN90 ), he's a jet expert and can answer your question way better than I would. What I can say is that when facing faster aircraft that also outmaneuver you, you must rely on your team to get them off your 6, but also avoid getting some on your 6 in the first place. Hunter is more of a support plane to the team, it can't do the dogfighting but it can capitalize on baits really well.
Ah fair enough, it's a shame that it's Britains top jet because realistically I can't think of any other jet they have that can carry either. Ah well, worth asking I suppose.
I guess I've just been too late to the party, but to be fair I don't find the air gameplay in War Thunder anywhere near as fun as tanks or ships. Since leaving my comment I quickly hopped into the hunter to see how it'd perform, managed to spark on a CL-13 that an ally set up for me, continued to dive away and somehow managed to get chased and caught by a mig-15, which I didn't even know was possible, I thought there was supposed to be a huge gap in terms of (speed) performance but I guess not.
Depends at what speed you're going. Mig15Bis will accelerate way better than the Hunter under 800km/h, and Mig15Bis was probably spaded. The top speed gap is around 75km/h or so.

My Dad had a Cessna 210, it only took 3 hrs to fly from Indiana to Armstrong. Now it's a 18 hour drive. Thank you Adam

I don't play aircraft that at least don't have forward facing guns. Bombing isn't useful in RB, so the thing that really matters is aircraft vs aircraft performance. I've got something with a turret played in the next few weeks if that satisfies you.
00:41 How do you know exactly that P51 has only 60% engine power at that alt? Is this simple math or is this somewhere to find in the manuels or wiki entries?
It's from the local host (black box). P51 has a bit over 1500HP at low altitude, while it was a bit less than 1000HP at high altitude where I said that. Simple math.
I do what's best for the team. If I'm needed elsewhere and all the critted enemy can do is limp back to base, I'll leave him for later. The first 5 minutes of combat decide 80%+ of matches, 1 minute of my time during those 5 minutes is not worth chasing a damaged aircraft. If the crit isn't a major one and the enemy can still fight, I usually finish him off.
Maybe it's because this plane suck when stock. Then again even spaded it's pretty bad when you see what it faces. Seriously for me the A4 is the last "good" FW Anton, the A-5 and especially the A-8 are just bad imo. The A5/U12 (or U2 I don't know now that they divide it in two planes) and the F8 are far better.
I think the problem with this P 51 is that it’s at a BR that Germany dominates. I mean have you flown the bf 109 F4? That thing is the definition of sealclubber. It doesn’t suffer from Hisparkos too! Allied planes explode to pieces so violently that it takes you by surprise. I’ve been getting 4-5 kill matches almost every 5 games with it, and I’m pretty garbage with most other planes. Imagine what you’d do with it. So this P 51 is at a tough place. You get your typical garbage Allied teams but you also have to face the best German plane in the game for its BR flown by level 100 sealclubbers. It’s poor climb performance and poor high altitude performance doesn’t help either when facing planes with twice the climb rate you have as well, especially in small maps like Normandy. It’s no surprise you don’t particularly like it I guess.
Yeah F4 is its most dangerous foe that's for sure. F4 deserves 4.0 BR, it's almost better than the G2 Trop. I only do well in the F4 though, not sure why. On paper it's as you say, one of the best German props for its BR.
I started off with TAS, that's what I'm used to. TAS is a better measure of your energy, as in how high you can zoom up to someone to shoot him down, while IAS makes it easier to maneuver because turns behave the same at the same IAS. There are props and cons to both.
I shallow climb (10-15°) straight towards the enemies, and bait some to chase me low while I go for lower enemies, then extend and wait for teammates if they keep chasing me.
9:00 I don't care for the P-51 (I play AB) because it's too darned easy. Seriously clubby. When I was just starting, the skies were full of these things, as soon as you hit BR 2.7 or 3.0 (I think the plane had a different BR back then...) Clubbers would fly them out, downtiered and with backups. It really got tedious to fight players who could erase anything they saw if they just started spamming the 20s.

Used to fly this plane a lot in Arcade a couple years ago. It was a clubber then as well.
Stuff with a lot of cannons is effective in AB.

I mostly avoid the damage, but the teammate heading on who dies uselessly is the main issue for me.
I honestly much prefer to use the A36 without additional guns over the P51 A. They’re basically the same but the A36 uses .50 cals instead of Hisparkos and it also gets an airspawn making it good for getting kills on bombers or getting altitude advantages on the enemy.
I don't really like the A36 haha, I prefer Hispanos over the early 50 cal guns too.
I got my best game yesterday in this, mostly stock besides the engine, radiator, new 20mm belts, and the 1st modification to the guns. 2 kills, 1 assist, 3 ground targets.

I've recently found a love for jet games in wt, and I've noticed that you dont upload jet videos to your channel, is there a reason for this? I love the prop videos btw, I use whatever strats I see on your videos and it has helped a lot.

I can't thank you enough for how much you taught me...Anyway, I play WarThunder at around 10-11 fps(sometimes spikes to 45-47 fps for somereason). I didn't download Full client for obvious reasons, I keep a dark background, close all other programmes etc...But still get to around 15 fps average. Any tips to improve this?
You basically are already doing the best you can. I used to play on a bad laptop and was in a similar situation, the game improved a lot after I upgraded.
How did you got the black box with the stats? Is it something you can seen in the actual game live or only during replays?
It's called the "local host".
How to access the "local host":
You need to be running War Thunder or it won't work!
Option 1: on the same computer that is running WT:
-Type localhost:8111/ in the address bar and press enter and voila.
Option 2 (which also works on the computer that runs WT):
-Type Your_IP_Address:8111/ where you replace "Your_IP_Address" by your IP Address (192.168.X.XXX) in the address bar and press enter and voila, you can look at the characteristics on another device while flying.
It works live and during replays.

I mean, what do you do against that in a FW 190D or a Ta152 ? The version with the cal .50 would be somewhat balanced but nobody played/play it.

It's manageable with MEC.
So at 2:30, the 190 does an excellent job of dodging your shots, but then dumps all his energy. Am I correct that in that situation, he should have extended in a shallower climb to try and drain your energy?
We outnumbered him, if he tried to do anything except dive he was going to get shot down. If he extended straight I might not have gotten a shot, but the F4U coming in would have caught him easily.
Adam514 ah, gotcha. So perhaps a dive down with some defensive flying to force a reversal? Just trying to figure out what to do, as I greatly enjoy the Antons
Antons are pretty good at forcing reversals at medium speeds. You need to be careful though, because P51s turn pretty well at high speed and have good flaps, you may need to chop throttle.
Would you be so kind as to upload a video on the Hunter? I don't know how to realistically use it as it constantly faces the Mig-17 which is better in absolutely every regard, and considering mine isn't spaded, CL-13's and the like more than often chase me down and kill me, there's literally nothing I can do.
Armament is better on the Hunter ;).
I'm no jet expert however. I recommend asking the same question on DEFYN's channel ( ruclips.net/user/DEFYN90 ), he's a jet expert and can answer your question way better than I would.
What I can say is that when facing faster aircraft that also outmaneuver you, you must rely on your team to get them off your 6, but also avoid getting some on your 6 in the first place. Hunter is more of a support plane to the team, it can't do the dogfighting but it can capitalize on baits really well.
Ah fair enough, it's a shame that it's Britains top jet because realistically I can't think of any other jet they have that can carry either. Ah well, worth asking I suppose.
Hunters used to carry the team at top tier in its early days, then it got nerfed a bit I think and people learned counters.
I guess I've just been too late to the party, but to be fair I don't find the air gameplay in War Thunder anywhere near as fun as tanks or ships. Since leaving my comment I quickly hopped into the hunter to see how it'd perform, managed to spark on a CL-13 that an ally set up for me, continued to dive away and somehow managed to get chased and caught by a mig-15, which I didn't even know was possible, I thought there was supposed to be a huge gap in terms of (speed) performance but I guess not.
Depends at what speed you're going. Mig15Bis will accelerate way better than the Hunter under 800km/h, and Mig15Bis was probably spaded. The top speed gap is around 75km/h or so.

I don't play aircraft that at least don't have forward facing guns. Bombing isn't useful in RB, so the thing that really matters is aircraft vs aircraft performance.
I've got something with a turret played in the next few weeks if that satisfies you.

00:41 How do you know exactly that P51 has only 60% engine power at that alt? Is this simple math or is this somewhere to find in the manuels or wiki entries?
It's from the local host (black box). P51 has a bit over 1500HP at low altitude, while it was a bit less than 1000HP at high altitude where I said that. Simple math.

I just got the fw 190 d12 and its just like the d9 which i love
D9 is slightly better at low altitude (under 4km), while D12 is better at high alt. For what I do, D9 is better.

I do what's best for the team. If I'm needed elsewhere and all the critted enemy can do is limp back to base, I'll leave him for later. The first 5 minutes of combat decide 80%+ of matches, 1 minute of my time during those 5 minutes is not worth chasing a damaged aircraft. If the crit isn't a major one and the enemy can still fight, I usually finish him off.

Maybe it's because this plane suck when stock. Then again even spaded it's pretty bad when you see what it faces.
Seriously for me the A4 is the last "good" FW Anton, the A-5 and especially the A-8 are just bad imo. The A5/U12 (or U2 I don't know now that they divide it in two planes) and the F8 are far better.

I think the problem with this P 51 is that it’s at a BR that Germany dominates. I mean have you flown the bf 109 F4? That thing is the definition of sealclubber. It doesn’t suffer from Hisparkos too! Allied planes explode to pieces so violently that it takes you by surprise. I’ve been getting 4-5 kill matches almost every 5 games with it, and I’m pretty garbage with most other planes. Imagine what you’d do with it.
So this P 51 is at a tough place. You get your typical garbage Allied teams but you also have to face the best German plane in the game for its BR flown by level 100 sealclubbers. It’s poor climb performance and poor high altitude performance doesn’t help either when facing planes with twice the climb rate you have as well, especially in small maps like Normandy. It’s no surprise you don’t particularly like it I guess.
Yeah F4 is its most dangerous foe that's for sure. F4 deserves 4.0 BR, it's almost better than the G2 Trop. I only do well in the F4 though, not sure why. On paper it's as you say, one of the best German props for its BR.

I started off with TAS, that's what I'm used to. TAS is a better measure of your energy, as in how high you can zoom up to someone to shoot him down, while IAS makes it easier to maneuver because turns behave the same at the same IAS. There are props and cons to both.

I used the P-51 today and I honestly love the thing. I use it to grind. I have no problems with the Hispanos. They just shoot fast.
They are significantly worse than German and US cannons though.

I shallow climb (10-15°) straight towards the enemies, and bait some to chase me low while I go for lower enemies, then extend and wait for teammates if they keep chasing me.

9:00 I don't care for the P-51 (I play AB) because it's too darned easy. Seriously clubby. When I was just starting, the skies were full of these things, as soon as you hit BR 2.7 or 3.0 (I think the plane had a different BR back then...) Clubbers would fly them out, downtiered and with backups. It really got tedious to fight players who could erase anything they saw if they just started spamming the 20s.
Haha sounds fun! Armament is even more important in AB, and I imagine it's satisfying.
