- Two Las Vegas teens accused of intentionally hitting and killing a bicyclist appeared in court Tuesday morning, one day after being formally charged with murder and other crimes.
Jesus Ayala,18, and Jzamir Keys, 16, were arraigned in Clark County Justice Court in separate courtrooms.

Supreme Court ruled in 2005 that people who were juveniles at the time of the crime cannot be given the death penalty.

There is legal precedent to convict to a life sentence or worse. Last Oct 2022, two different Las Vegas teens were sentenced to life in prison for the murder of one of the teen’s father. There is no question that these teens that tried to kill these cyclists should receive a life sentence or worse.
What about Ruggs and Collins getting 60, days thru two years for driving high and drunk and both at high speeds were people were killed why others get life and others get 60, days or the minimum 10, years? The ex play boy model ( whore) only got ten years for killing her sugar daddy.
There is no "or worse." Both suspects were minors at the time of the crime, so the death penalty is off the table. If I'm not mistaken, in the case of minors, the sentence must be reviewed after 25 years. These little shits are likely to be walking before they're 45.
The two criminals need to be put on a chain gang that works 12 hour days picking up trash, cutting brush, busting rocks, cutting firewood, cleaning clogged sewers, etc. and given the bare minimum to eat to keep them alive. No t.v.'s, only the bible to read, no privileges of any kind for the first 10 years.

Of course the private attorney asked for more time, they are running up the tab. His family is throwing good money away figuring a private attorney will do a better job. One needs to rat out the other and take a plea deal if offered one. There's no way out of this but I'm predicting one of them will claim mental health issues.
