Our birth story was also a very traumatic event and it took me also a very long time before I felt comfortable talking about it. One feels so 'robbed of the happy event you imagined it would be'.
So me and hubby fell pregnant with twins. At 32 weeks I was dilated 1cm and therefore admitted to hospital for observation and getting meds to try and stop the process. One evening as I was bringing a glass of water to mouth, a nurse rushed in and told me "don't drink that water, you are giving birth ASAP". Bloodwork showed I had pre-eclampsia and had to get an emergency c-section. Immediately I was transferred to another hospital (due to their very good neonatal ICU). SO within the hour I was rolled into a theatre (in the other hospital). I was overwhelmed with the amount of medical staff (a medical team for me, as well as a team for each one of the twins). This is where I went into shock, everything was happening so fast. So, I got the c-section, twins was born, I barely saw them before they were rushed to the NICU (my husband going with them). Doctor started to close me up, and here I started get vary sleepy, I just want to pass out, and everybody tries to keep me awake. Ok, sowed up, wheeled to recovery, doctor goes to family to report. Doctor comes back to check up on me, and this is when sh*t got real. Also same story, uterus didn't contract and I am laying in a pool of blood. Doctor starts massaging uterus (one hand inside, other hand on top) ON TOP OF THE C-SECTION I just had! (spinal block was working out, and I started to feel everything). That hurt like a b***tch. Doctor said she was vary sorry, but she has no other choice. At this point my husband was freaking out (he saw the doctor standing in a pool of my blood and trying to save my life, and in another part the hospital our two vary small babies are also connected to machines) I went in and out of consciousness several times from the pain. After hours of struggling, bleeding stopped, but instead of going to the maternity ward I was send to the ICU as I had to receive several units of blood. SO put on morphine for the pain and drama over right? No! Within the next 24 hours I contracted an infection and had a terrible fever. So more days in ICU with antibiotics to fight the infection. After a few more days, I was taken to see the twins for the first time. Seeing those small babies broke my heart. I felt this extreme guilt that my body failed them. But, long story short, after 6 weeks they were discharged from hospital and today they are perfect, 100% healthy 13 year olds.

You are a strong momma Tricia. When I was pregnant with my second child, my son. The last week so of my pregnancy I couldn't feel him move any more. I told my partner that I don't feel the baby kicking or turning anymore. A week before my due date I was feeling slight contractions but not enough to put me in labor. It felt like slight menstrual pains nothing serious. This went on for a while. I called my doctor and he said to come to the hospital that they will monitor the contractions and the baby's heartbeat. After a couple of hours went by they were still not strong enough. I started walking up and down just to see if that would help but nothing. It was almost night time and still no strong contractions. They put the thing on my belly to monitor the baby heartbeat but could not find it. They pushed and shook my belly still nothing. I could hear them talking to each other about not finding it and what they were gonna do. My partner was sweating in panick and I was so worried about my baby. Then an older nurse came and she literally lifted the baby inside my belly (she pushed her hands in the sides of my belly and lifted and shook him). It hurt but then we could finally see the baby's heartbeat on the monitor. Because the contractions were still not strong enough after so many hours they said that they would give me something to make them stronger. My water didn't break fully by itself. It was just dripping small bits of fluid. So they broke it with that thing that looked like a hooking needle. And in minutes the pain started getting worse and the baby was coming. While I was pushing the nurse told me to stop. Because the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck and would get tighter if I pushed. She put het hand between his neck and the cord so it would not choke him. It was almost impossible to just stop pushing in the middle of having strong contractions. She removed it from his neck and told me I could push again. When he was born they had to put him in a box for oxygen and light because he was a little yellow and you could hear fluid on his lungs because he stayed in my belly so long before they got him out.
Now he is 3 years old with no problems at all and just being a boy 😅.
It was the most traumatic and wonderful day of my life. I love him so much

Our birth story was similar except our baby was 8 weeks early and struggling to breath and they rushed her out of the room to the NICU. I was hysterically crying and being stitched up. They’re giving me meds and everyone seems in a panic. My poor husband didn’t know what to do. I yelled at him to go with the baby. It was the scariest day of our lives. She stayed in the hospital for a month because she just couldn’t swallow and breath without choking. After a month she came home and it was the most amazing day we could have imagined. She is our only baby and she’s now 20 yrs old. It honestly traumatized my husband and we agreed to just have one child. The thought of that happening again was more than he could handle.

    My traumatic birth story:
The day before I had my son I went to the hospital. They did blood work, took urine, monitored my son's heartbeat and my contractions. They also checked to see if my cervix was still closed. I was there for probably about 2 hours and they never once did an ultrasound. They discharged me so we went home. 5am the following morning, my contractions came back and then I felt a really warm gush of something. I ran into my bathroom and there was nothing but blood running down my legs. I ran back into my room and told my boyfriend to call 911. They rushed me to the hospital, and I was actively bleeding throughout the whole time. I was cut out of my clothes and rushed into an emergency c section. What happened was my placenta had ruptured so I had an abruption. If the hospital would have done an ultrasound, I would have been admitted because my placenta was detaching from my uterus.
I was exactly 35 weeks when my son was born, he had to stay a week in the nicu but now in just 2 days he'll be 2 months old. A perfect happy and healthy baby boy. ❤

First let me say, thank you for being brave enough to share this story. You are right, it happens way more than it's ever talked about. And it's so scary. I am so sorry you went through that. Second, you are both so strong for different reasons. Tricia you made it through a life or death situation. And Kam, you checked to make sure she was okay. Most men don't think like that honestly. I know Kylah is worth it all ten times over. But it's still a traumatizing experience. And I'm glad to see that you are working through those feelings and emotions in such a healthy way. I had tears running down my cheeks as you were talking Tricia, because I'm a mom and I know how scary it can be. I was 19 years old when I had my twins via c-section, and one of them wasn't breathing when he was born. I felt so helpless because I couldn't get up and help him. And I was so traumatized. Make sure you keep talking about it and processing it in a healthy way. Those negative feelings can sneak up when you least expect them, so processing is the best thing you can do. Maybe talk to your obgyn and get information about why it could have happened. I honestly believe education can help everything. But you guys are amazing! Tricia you are such a strong woman and I respect you so much! And you have such a beautiful baby girl! I hope you keep sharing her as she grows... Lol I'm invested now 😂 love you guys❤❤❤

I felt the emotions from this video, when Tricia started crying telling her story she had tears coming out of my eyes. You had every right to not want to share this story right away but thank you so much for sharing your birth story. Kam is so supportive and it’s amazing that he kept Tricia in mind and was worried about her. I’m so glad you and the baby came out of this experience healthy! I love you guys and Tricia you are so strong and are just such an amazing person ❤

Both of you guys are amazing and Trish, you're a warrior, no need to explain if it was less than others, it's your story and valid. Kam, you're amazing! You were being a father but most of all of being a husband, you were present in the toughest of times. A huge hug to both and blessings to the three of you ❤.
My mom went through something similar when she had my little sister. I wasn't there because I was 9 at the time but both of my parents told me what had happened. She actully passed out and had to receive blood. Stayed in the hospital for a week and went through the same feeling of guilt for leaving my newborn sister and me behind but she's a tough one and thank God she's still with us ❤ I'm currently 35.

My birth story was almost exactly the same as yours. Only thing different is that my daughter was born not breathing and I was not clotting. I had two doctors and a room full of 10 other people working on me as I was going in and out of consciousness. It all happens so fast and I remember screaming “is my baby okay,” over and over as I watched them scream on the phone and up the hall for the NICU nurse. My mother was in the room and had to catch my husband because he collapsed as he watched them prep me for emergency surgery. Birth can be very traumatic but to this day me and my daughter are happy and healthy. You are so strong and she will look up to you one day as you tell her that story!❤

I have a story kinda similar but different, I had twin daughters back in 1996 and I had to have a c-section.. I remember waking up out of recovery to the nurss saying I need help we are going to lose her.. I was hemmorrhaging badly and I immediately started crying for my mom.. The doctor came in and pulled big huge blood clots out of me.. I was pale and week, but long story short they caught it just in time.. Thank you God and my twins are now 26..

Also - just wanted to say because you guys keep saying “y’all thought Tricia was selfish and going to wait until next week to get induced” - Tricia, in no way would you have been selfish for doing that. Your body is made to do this and God prepared you for it and if you waited to do it when you felt ready then you would still be every bit as incredible and loving of a mom as you are having not waited. Of course I fully respect your choice to have her that night and we’re so excited she’s here, but just wanted to assure you that whatever choice you made would be perfect for you and your baby and you don’t have to justify it to anyone.

This brought back many scary memories! I was induced (never again) and then the epidural took 3 hours to come. Pushing was absolutely fine, but I lost a lot of blood afterwards and couldn’t even hold my son. I kept passing out, my blood pressure was SO low and I felt like I was going to die. My son was taken to NICU as we both got an infection from my waters being broken too. We spent days in hospital and I nearly had a blood transfusion but I have bad allergies to things so they did everything they could to avoid it. It was just horrific and I never want to be induced again 🥲 I’m SO glad you guys are ok and i’m so sorry you had that experience! But like you said, it’s worth every minute 👶🏼🫶🏼

An extremely similar situation happened with me! I could feel exactly what you were saying. When I got the vitamin k shot in my leg, I was also hyper focused on my baby & just trying to role play in my head what would come next. I thought they would take my son away from me & roll me away for a blood transfusion. I was calm but also really scared. I also get super emotional when I tell our story, and he just turned 2! Thank God our bodies clotted properly and we're both here to be moms to our babies!! 🥹 Big hugs!!

Watching this was so emotional for me. I was also induced but ended up having a c section and also started hemorrhaging in the recovery room. I tried telling a nurse 3 separate times that something wasn’t right before my boyfriend looked under my blanket and called a nurse so they could actually check on me! I remember having similar thoughts as all the doctors rushed into my room and handed my newborn to my boyfriend and told them they have to leave the room…. Very traumatic for me. I ended up pregnant again within a year and although my second birth was also a c section, it was sooo much smoother so please don’t let this scare you for future pregnancies. They really are all so different. I’m happy Tricia and baby girl are here and healthy and I’m excited to watch you guys as you grow along this new journey ❤️❤️❤️

They literally said the same thing, I was bleeding so much and they had a hard time figuring out where it was coming from. I heard them say it & I was aware but at the same time I was also holding my son & I guess that was what kept me calm too.. very scary time for us mamas!

Thank you for your story Tricia! I got pregnant with my 3rd LO around the same time as you & Rissa & I to had a traumatic experience (I had just found out I was pregnant about a week before leaving) I went on a road trip & once back home I started to feel unwell to the point where I was having pain in my chest & could barely breathe & went to the emergency room to find out I had not 1 but about 3 blood clots in my lungs & if I would’ve waited another day I could’ve died! So I then have to start taking blood thinner shots immediately twice a day my entire pregnancy & 6 weeks after birth! So I to was actually induced at 38 weeks I was terrified !! (mainly because I went natural with my other 2) so I was told that if things went wrong I could basically die or need a blood transfusion, so after birth I to was bleeding none stop like constantly to where they told me I’ll possibly need that blood transfusion if I made it to that certain amount of blood lost (Thankfully I did not) but I was extremely close but after making it through all of that it kind of scared me BUT as you said seeing your baby just makes you forget all about the negative & I’ll honestly do it again as long as my LO’s are healthy & ok . Sorry for the long post just thought I’d share my story as well 🫶🏽
